Swanson recently did some major landscaping for us, which included pouring a rock textured slab and building above ground brick beds. They also put in weed barrier cloth and loose rocks in other areas, replaced our irrigation system and put in new lines. They were thousands of dollars less expensive than the next competitor, and I don't think anyone could have pleased us more. Their workman were wonderful, honest people. They worked very hard and quickly every day, and completed the job sooner that I had expected. Work quality was excellent. Geoff couldn't have been nicer to work with. The only minor problem was that we had talked about a general plan, and he never drew up, and we never approved, the specifics. It was our fault too. When the work was underway it did not go exactly as we thought it would, but Geoff more than made up for the discrepancy. It is better than if the original had been completed. read more

I found I had a large water leak and was able to narrow the source to landscape piping rather than house or main line. Geoff came out to check for leaks in the valves and risers and places where landscaping pipes most likely fail. Upon determination that I had a broken pipe at a valve box his team quickly replaced the pipe and manifold for an extremely fair and competitive price. Great communication. I will never go anywhere else for my outdoor landscaping and patio/living area needs. These guys were top notch from moment one. Geoff (owner) came out personally to walk the property and get an idea of what we wanted before providing a budget. I made an ungodly amount of changes and additions as we went through the project and without batting an eye I was given a fair price and they added the crews needed to keep things moving along. For as big of a nightmare that something like this could have been with the holidays and weather/rain we had, it was nothing but smooth and professional. We had the pleasure of working with Geoff's team at Swanson's Landscaping on an entire re-work/re-think of our front and back yards. Although we worked with an architect to develop and refine build plans, we were complete construction and renovation newbies--Geoff and his crew (headed by the incredibly thoughtful, thorough, patient, and kind Manuel) worked hard to make sure that not only was the work done beautifully, but that we understood when and why things were being done a particular way, etc. Our project involved a little bit of everything--complete demolition of existing structures, removal of dead/dying trees, pouring concrete, complex and detailed masonry work, creation of an exterior fireplace and kitchen/BBQ island, installation of new irrigation, installation of new exterior lighting, construction of a pergola, construction of TREX stairs and deck, laying of flagstone pathways, planting trees and plants, modifying a fence, and a complete on-the-fly fix of poor/broken irrigation from the original home builder (Toll). We are BEYOND-pleased with the results; we have a beautiful, functional, and livable space that our family will enjoy for years and years. A HUGE thank-you to Geoff, Manuel, Christian (AMAZING masonry!), Ceasar, Erick, Angel, Jose, and so many more whose names we unfortunately did not catch (but who all deserve to be acknowledged for their work); the entire Swanson crew was amazing, kind, polite, and always made sure to tidy at the end of the day. Just finished our front yard remodel with Swanson's. We couldn't be happier with the final result. Geoff was very attentive responding to texts every day and working with us as we changed or added things during the process. This review is long overdue. Geoff and his team remodeled my entire backyard in Spring 2021. I had a good idea of what I wanted but Geoff, Ernie and Manuel helped with the details to complete my vision. They offered great advice and their expertise clearly showed. I appreciated that every recommendation they made came with good examples and a clear explanation of pros and cons. This made my life a lot easier when making decisions that would have long term implications. Geoff quickly adapted to changes and communicated well. I had a very tight timeline to host a friend's party and I made some last minute additions to the project. When it looked like the extra work wouldn't be done in time, the crew worked extra days and long hours to ensure the project would be done to my satisfaction. A small section of the grass quickly died and was not to my satisfaction, but Geoff rapidly fixed the damaged area and adjusted the sprinkler head to ensure it wouldn't happen again. I just wanted to share how pleased we are with our backyard. Swanson's Landscaping recommended that we get a design done which we did, and they implemented it. I had a few changes like extending the seat wall and adding a counter for entertaining and they were very flexible. We have had several gatherings since and everyone is just so impressed. It is exactly what we wanted. Enough seating room under the pavilion and the gas fire pit with seat walls and pillars for additional seating where the young crowd seams to gather. All the workers were so polite and friendly. There were different crews who had their own specialty of installation. I love my backyard again because of Swanson's! We had a side yard that was full of weeds, and an old broken down deck in our backyard. They made a new deck out of Fiberon (like Trex), and I can't believe what a difference it makes. Then they cleared out the side yard, put in troughs for gardening, and put a week barrier with wood chips on top. Plus put in a few trees and plants. It's simple, good for the drought and beautiful! Our landscaper of a few years left the business about a month ago and we were really in need of a new service. We contacted a few companies but Geoff was quick on a reply. He set an appointment with us and showed up right on time. It was nice to meet with him and I liked that he grew up in Livermore like I did. He got us a quote that was very fair and we never did interview another company. His guys arrived for our first weekly service this afternoon and they had their hands full after a few weeks of really no yard maintenance. I cannot give more than 3 stars at this point, because we never got to work together with Swanson's landscaping. Too bad because I was really looking forward to seeing for myself what a 5 star reviewed contractor is. After obtaining an incomplete estimate ( not a contract), where I asked for two different price quotes on concrete yard vs pavers, and on fence pricing, and due to the fact that I had a lot of follow up questions regarding that estimate, Swanson got annoyed and canceled on me at the last moment. This was hugely unprofessional as I was filing in an application at the same time for my yard/landscape improvement with my HOA to begin this project. I was left stranded in the middle of the process and I didn't appreciate the abrupt ending of this project negotiation. This could stand improvement. It seems that for the high cash prices ( no credit cards accepted) that Swanson charges (for a small yard patio size a nearly $18,000!), there should be more flexibility when a customer wants to change an item on an estimate. For example, rather than haggling on the price, I was actually asking to obtain an additional quote on other types of floor coverings (stone, tile, concrete, etc) rather than choosing pavers right away that are very expensive, and also asked for pricing on a seat wall and fence with different building materials, etc. that's all - tweaking the estimate to fit my budget needs rather than take it or leave it pricing policy. On a positive note, I do greatly appreciate the effort of the super busy owners coming to measure and at least providing an initial estimate. I understand their time is valuable and I appreciate their effort, and so is my time too! I'm sure that if we had worked together, the results might have been great as per the high reviews here. read more

He removed concrete from all sides of house, old arbors and deck and replaced it will exceptional materials including stamped concrete, (2) travertine patios and grass side yard with trees that have given it a "wow" from all those that have seen the transition. We used Swanson recently to rebuilt our deck. The material we used to have was getting so bad that we couldn't use the Jacuzzi anymore. First Geoff, the owner, came and talk with me about what exactly I wanted, he gave me some ideas like adding lighting to the steps and the shape instead to be the typical bored rectangle, he recommend me to make it like "S" shape for the layout of my backyard. Manuel came to make sure the design was what I wanted and gave me some tips and recommendations too, we set up the final design. Finally they started to build it and finish in just 4 days. I had my front and back yards totally converted from lawns and sprinklers to rocks, succulents, and drip irrigation systems. I also added a 3 steps walkway in the front yard. Out of the 5 bids I received, I selected Swanson's. It is not because of the lowest price (it was 2nd highest of the 5). It is more on how the owner Geoff approaches to the process. He responded to the request for the estimates very quickly and timely, and provided written details itemized estimate as promised. This allow us to easily make changes and adjustments to our design. As we have better understanding of the cost (material & labor) for each item of work, he worked with us by adjusting the estimates for the changes we made. When the project started, we were still making changes and his team work closely with us for the changes as long as the material hasn't been order and the work hasn't been started. Swanson's has excellent team. Manuel (project manager), Louis (lead on site), Sergio (the cement guy), Jose (Manuel's brother). They are flexible and they listen. They will adjust to changes you like and suggest the cost effective way for doing it. They also recognized that I am paying the bill and as long as I understand the cost and is prepared to pay for it, they will do exactly the way I want. The project completed on time. While he was out, he troubleshot a BIG problem I had with my backyard irrigation that I couldn't figure it out. He took the time to ask questions, analyze the system and diagnose the problem. Worth the Wait! Geoff came out to give me an estimate to remove an old planter, plants, install pavers and replace the old planter with a new stone planter in my front yard.
