First time customer and it did not disappoint! It's so cute when you walk in, you see a wall filled with breakfast art drawn all over and hear good vibes music playing. The menu has so many options, there's definitely something for everyone! The gentleman who helped me even helped me decide what to order and the food came out in record time, it was so fast! I had eggs, sausage and chocolate strawberries and cream crepes. It was all so yummy and hit the spot!

Everything on the menu looked delicious, but the real standout for me were the crêpes -- absolutely amazing. They were light, fresh, and perfectly prepared with just the right balance of sweetness. Every bite felt like a little moment of happiness. The café itself has a warm, inviting vibe, and the staff were friendly and attentive, making the visit even better. If you're craving something sweet and satisfying, Sweet Dessert Café is definitely the spot. And trust me -- don't leave without trying the crêpes!

First things first: this place is wildly unassuming. Tucked into a shopping center next to Food City, you might not give it a second glance from the outside... but the second you step inside, it's a totally different story. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and full of personality -- with cute doodles on the walls and a cozy, homey vibe that immediately makes you feel like you're in the right place. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Lafayette (who I somehow knew from like 20 years ago -- small world moment!) and told I could sit wherever I liked. Within minutes, I had a menu in hand and water from their self-serve station -- which, by the way, I LOVE. The menu? Massive. We're talking everything from crepes and waffles to sandwiches, chilaquiles, and more. Basically, if you're craving it, they probably have it. Naturally, I went with my classic comfort order -- biscuits and gravy -- but I couldn't resist adding a dulce de leche crepe and their dirty horchata for my drink. Y'all. Let me tell you. That dirty horchata? Changed my life. Every flavor note was beautifully layered, rich, and perfectly balanced. It set the tone for what ended up being one of the best brunches I've had in recent memory. The biscuits and gravy? The best I've ever had at a restaurant. Period. The gravy was rich, savory, and loaded with flavor (plus topped with bacon because they understood the assignment), and the biscuits were perfectly textured -- dense but not heavy, fluffy without being dry. It came with seasoned, crispy hash browns and the portion was enormous. I took half of it home and was still full. And the crepe? Sweet, decadent, and absolutely delicious. A perfect dessert-for-breakfast moment. Service was just as impressive as the food. I was seated immediately, brought a menu quickly, and my drink arrived within five minutes. The food came out fast, I was checked on regularly, and both owners were walking around chatting with patrons -- you can tell they care about their customers and love what they do. The total cost was about $30, which felt more than fair for the quality, portion size, and overall experience. I'd happily pay that again and again for a meal this good. TL;DR: Sweet Desert Café is a low-key, high-reward brunch haven. Go. Go now.

We were looking for a brunch place that had a variety of everything. Found this on yelp and decided to give this place a try. Coming in, the staff was welcoming and very nice. We got to sit anywhere. Looked at the menu and wow there was a lot of food to choose from. The food was a lot of delicious savory food like all kinds of croissant sandwiches and other brunch food to sweet food and desserts. I tried the strawberry & cream crepes and my husband got the Monte Cristo crepe with hash browns and we got a club sandwich to split. The crepes were so delicious, smooth and silky and delicious and creamy. Loved the way it was made and I'm very picky. I felt like these were better than we ones I get when I go to work in Paris. The hash browns were the my husband and I have ever had. The seasoning was so good and it was a nice and crispy. My husband loved his monte cristo crepe. The club sandwich tasted so good. I actually got full fast and took mine to go for leftovers and I never usually take leftovers. We ordered 3 waffles to go for our teenage sons. The banana and cream and mixed berry and strawberry Nutella waffles is what we brought them and all were so good. I don't like pancakes or waffles but the banana one was my favorite. My boys raved about how good it was. It was one of the best they had too. Our waiter was amazing and great at checking on us but not over checking on us. He was excellent !! The place is very cute and clean!! They had a nice water jug with lemon and oranges it looked like for customers. Highly recommend this place and will come back to try everything. Everything in that menu looked amazing. We are new to Arizona and this will be one of our 'go to' spots.

The server was very friendly. I really enjoyed the hash browns that came with the breakfast burrito. I'd say the crepe was fine but I'd probably skip it next time.

Great food but be ready to practice your virtue of patience! This hidden gem is a family run business in the place you would least expect, next to a barber shop and a Food City. From the outside I expected it to be just a small coffee shop but as I sat down and took a look at the menu I was absolutely shocked at the huge number of choices for all types of breakfast meals! From waffles to Phillycheese steaks and from Montecristos to chilaquiles. We had to start with the waffles because that was what brought us here in the first place and there was nothing disappointing about them! Everything was delicious! But patience is definitely needed because this place was fully packed on Saturday and although the staff was incredibly nice and working as hard as possible it was just not humanly possible to take care of all the customers they have with the staff on hand. So our food came out at different times and one of our drinks did not arrive until our meal was almost done but despite this still enjoyed the food and look forward to going again and trying different items on the menu!

First time visiting Sweet Desert Cafe, the reviews lured us in. Ambiance- 3.5- it's a small diner style restaurant. Nothing fancy but ok. Service -3 - There is one person hosting, taking orders, managing and checking people out. I would not be surprised if he is also helping cook the food. All of which makes things slow and inefficient. I gave service a 3 since he is very nice and friendly. Food - 5 - We all thought our food was excellent. The strawberry waffle was light, fluffy and not dense, the best. As another reviewer said, if you want good food, I guess you have to be patient and wait.

S-D-C is a cute and homey cafe with a knock-it-out-of-the-park menu; seriously, if you can't find something on this menu that excites you, you need to have your pulse checked. The service is nothing short of top notch as are the breakfast items we chose. If you want a taste tour de force, do yourself a favor and get the coconut pancakes with mango topping. It has such an excellent flavor that it is impossible to put into words. A handful of bennys that cover the spectrum are available for you to try also. Be patient once your order is placed- this isn't IHOP, they are hand crafting tasty delights with care in the kitchen to order. Maybe have an old-school conversation with the person or persons at the table with you. There probably won't be time to say much more than YUM! when your meals arrive. Just go and give them a try- you'll thank me later for certain!

I was looking for a breakfast spot on my last morning in Phoenix and decided on this place after seeing the good reviews and the menu. When I walked in there were a few tables with people and the host/server greeted me immediately. I sat myself and he brought me a menu. I decided on the banana Nutella waffle with a side of scrambled eggs. The server took my order and pointed me towards the water dispenser that I could use to pour myself some lemon water. The food came 10-15 minutes later. The waffle was pretty good and was the perfect size for how hungry I was. The bananas were fresh and the cream on top tasted homemade and was really good. The eggs were a little overcooked and had some griddle gristle mixed in, so I got some bites with burnt something from another order mixed in. The waffle was definitely the star of the dish and I would get it again. The lemon water was nice and refreshing. The restaurant was fairly loud due to a family with several rambunctious kids sitting right next to the door. The kids kept screaming and talking loudly. Luckily I was dining by myself so I didn't have to worry about hearing anyone I was sitting with. Given how loud it was with just one family, I'm sure it's even louder during peak times over the weekend. The host/server was an absolute delight. I didn't catch his name but the receipt says Laf, that may be it? He was a tall Black gentleman with a cross necklace. He was so friendly and made me feel right at home. I was worried about it being awkward that I was dining alone as I had never done so in a sit-down restaurant before, but he made me feel completely normal and I was so grateful for that. I walked away from my experience here texting my friends about how nice and lovely he was. I don't live in Arizona anymore but if I visit Phoenix again I would definitely consider going here if I'm in the area. It's definitely worth a try!

Had some time to kill before visiting clients have been in a mood for crêpes in a while. Ordered a strawberry and banana Nutella crêpe. It was delicious. Hit the spot. The decor inside is actually pretty cute. I like how they have this chalkboard on the top part with lots of drawings. I was able to seat myself, and I love the booth options. The server who served me was very nice He was friendly. Definitely next time I'm back on the side of town and wanting crêpes I know where to go

I am a HUGE fan of pistachio and gin so immediately I had to get his drink but it was beyond mediocre. Are we drinking only syrup??? My last complaint is the coconut tres leches dessert.... Do we actually know how to make tres leches or we just naming desserts however we want? Just curious. It came out super hot, steaming more like a molten cake. As a Hispanic woman, I was expecting a creamy moist cake to celebrate my graduation but this was not it as well. Last but not least if the bald manager with the orange shirt wants to eat in the back of the kitchen, not the problem I get it (I work at restaurants) HOWEVER shoving your two index fingers into your mouth to get your debris out was my last straw. The guy who took our order was uncheerful & came across as "I don't want to be here; what do you want?" Not the best impression. We placed our order & were lucky enough to find a seat. The space is so bright and sunny. I love the cute style of the little diner lots of yellows to help you wake up. There is a bar area to sit inside at a big picture window overseeing the Novus Place structure and greenspace. There is a lot of outdoor seating for the nice weather months. They have a drink bar for special cocktail drinks and coffees. They had little league championships on the tvs. The menu doesn't have a lot of vegetarian choices listed but they do have many gluten free options. I special ordered my chiliquiles without chicken with no issues. The waitress even offered to check on the sauce to see if there were any animal based broths in the recipe. The dish was so flavorful topped with sour cream, and very fresh tomatoes and green onions in the salsa. The tortilla chips were perfectly done not soggy like they can get if not prepared carefully. I ordered my eggs scrambled and they were very cheesy and so delicious. I ordered a single pancake as pancakes are my favorite breakfast food. I can say it was perfectly fluffy and tasty and I am picky about my pancakes. My husband ordered a California Omelet he said it was absolutely delicious with very fresh vegetables. His exact words were this was night and day from the first time we came. I am so happy to say that we will definitely be returning, confidently bring out of state visitors, and recommend this cute diner to others. For locals I noticed they offer a day with 20% for students and faculty at ASU. I am very pleasantly surprised by the difference from the first experience. The management was very respectful and receptive. I appreciate it so much when a business can work to make things right. Thank you for the wonderful breakfast experience I really wanted to like this little brunch place in the Novus Plaza. As a vegetarian it is often hard to find good choices at a standard restaurant. Usually breakfast, brunch style is the best for me because I still eat dairy and eggs. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with the food. The menu was cute and had trendy food from their "As Seen on TV" menu from TV shows featuring certain recipes. I had high hopes as the reviews have been overall good. So after searching the menu for a good vegetarian choice I could only find pancakes and had to order my protein * scrambled eggs separately to fill out my meal. Saying the quality of my food was horrendous is an understatement. I haven't seen burnt pancakes since I was making them myself at 10 years old. Not only did they burn them but they served them to me that way. The cook obviously realized it because he put the worst burnt one on the bottom of the stack. I was so hungry so I tried to eat them but just couldn't yuck. . I enjoyed my scrambled eggs and watched my husband enjoy his bisuits and gravy which he said was decent. The server (singular) was so busy. He was running the bar area and the tables. Not totally his fault but he didn't get back to check on us until my husband had almost finished his entire meal and I still had burnt pancakes. He offered to get me something else but there was nothing else on the menu for me and the experience put me off of pancakes. The menu online looked like it had many more choices maybe the Tempe restaurant limited their menu, I'm not sure. I ended up getting a refund for my pancakes and going home hungry. The restaurant itself was adorable, it had a retro-ish vibe and the server really was trying to get to the 4 or 5 tables that had customers at the time.

Now listen... the spot itself is cute. Once we actually got service, our waiter was cool. It just took forevvverrrrr & I ended up having to request cutlery after food was served. To be fair, it was busy, but there also seemed to be plenty of wait staff, so I'm not exactly sure where the disconnect was. Food-wise: the spinach artichoke dip was definitely the table favorite. My caprese panini was ok, it was sadly lacking pesto which feels a little criminal for a caprese situation. Our friends loved the fancy French toast & I was absolutely there for the prickly pear mimosas The entire brunch honestly felt like it was one dropped plate away from becoming a sitcom episode. One poor new waiter dropped a plate on the floor, then later knocked glasses off the rack above the bar & shattered a couple right next to guests sitting there. I genuinely felt bad for him because you could tell he was having a rough shift. That said, I really appreciated that they acknowledged the long wait & gave us a discount without us having to ask. Both came quickly and was yummy but I was disappointed that I wasn't asked if I wanted the turkey sausage or duck bacon so I forgot to even ask for the duck bacon and I wanted the sandwich specifically to try that. Pleasantly surprised by the scrumptious food here! Everything I got was devine! The steak frites…read morewere cooked to perfection. The shrimp ceviche was bright, fresh, and balanced with acidity, sweetness, heat, and crunch. The brussel sprouts were grilled and flavored to perfection! My Gold Rush cocktail, exquisite! My servers, on both visits, were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive! Like I said, everything, perfection! Restaurant is located on the 1st floor inside the Omni hotel. I absolutely love the restaurant layout and decor. It's very chic and modern! They also have happy hour from 3-5pm! Give them a try! They're spectacular!

Our experience at Neighborhood Services Bar + Restaurant, located beneath the Omni Hotel in Tempe,…read morewas unfortunately not a particularly memorable meal. While I can certainly understand the convenience for hotel guests, I would recommend managing expectations if you are visiting specifically for the dining experience. We started with the Chili Chilies, which I was especially excited to try because it's a personal favorite. Unfortunately, the eggs arrived burnt rather than over-easy, sitting on what we could only describe as Mexican masa--almost like an attempt at corn chips. Next came the Hash, but unfortunately, it also seemed to have spent far too long under the heating lamp. By that point, I decided the safest choice for my breakfast experience was simply going to be the poached eggs. I do want to be fair and say that every restaurant can have an off morning, and perhaps this was simply ours. However, between the food being overcooked or seemingly held under the heat lamp too long, the meal just didn't leave the impression we had hoped for. One other thing worth knowing if you're visiting: parking is a challenge. The nearby garages appeared to be reserved for valet parking, leaving us to park about a block away to avoid any possibility of being towed. Overall, I'd probably keep this one primarily on the radar for Omni hotel guests looking for convenience, rather than making it a destination breakfast. Hopefully, our experience was an exception, because the concept certainly has potential.
