It's great to have a nice breakfast spot nearby! We've been several times over the past few weeks and have enjoyed all of the dishes. A few standouts are the Fiesta Benedict featuring the excellent chicken carnitas and anything with the roasted rosemary potatoes. We also like the specialty canned drinks that you can customize. As sad as I was to see Bosackis close, it was cool that part of the bar was retained and that a good number of tables fit in what seemed like a small spot. With the high stars associated to this restaurant, I had some expectations. Unfortunately, I feel they missed. The restaurant is cute. The outside isn't much to see, but the inside had a nice hometown cafe feel to it. It wasn't too packed with seating and felt comfortable. The service was excellent! Bonnie was friendly, knows the regulars by name and came and checked on me several times. My iced tea was refilled without me even asking. She is holding a Sunday morning shift together. Then there is the food. I ordered one of the specials called "hearty breakfast". Biscuits and gravy with eggs and 2 links of sausage and 2 strips of bacon. The biscuits and gravy were Louie warm at best. No sign of sausage even though I asked if it had chunks of sausage. They may have used sausage drippings but that is all. The gravy lacked seasoning of any kind. The biscuit were cold, and lacked any biscuit-like flakiness. The scrambled eggs were grainy... usually caused by the eggs cooking too fast causing the proteins to bind up. They were also Luke warm. The sausage links were cooked to a shrivel and lost all juiciness. The bacon was really the only highlight for food. It's a shame. I really had hope. read more

Ate here on a whim with the hubs. The drinks were good and the food was decent. The blueberry pancakes and the specialty coffee drinks were the stars of the show. I had a Dubai iced coffee and the hubs had a caramel iced coffee. Both were sweet with a nice coffee, caffeinated undertone. Also, it was well priced and I thoroughly enjoyed the pop top for the coffee. It was a nice and unique enough touch. This is a little diner tucked into town so it has a very small town homey feel. The place itself wasn't too big but it wasn't too small either. The waitresses were nice and they took our orders fast, there was barely any waiting. My hubs and i ordered something similar to that of a country fried steak and a country fried chicken. It tasted okay, flavorful but still needed a punch. I don't know if it was more salt, more pepper or just more flavor overall that was needed. This was not the case with the blueberry pancakes which were very flavorful. I definitely would be willing to give this place another try but for our first time here, it wasn't bad. read more

This new spot is pretty tucked away but definitely worth checking out! We entered and were seated right away. Nice and clean little space, decorated with cute wall decor and such. The menu isn't huge but it's got all the breakfast staples and some lunch stuff as well. Specials on the menu board by the door, I missed this on my way in but the Dubai Chocolate Crepe sounded amazing. I opted for a half order of biscuits and gravy, with hashbrowns as well as a side order of sausage patties. I also tried the pancakes. They have a very nice little specialty drink menu as well with coffee options on one side and fancy fruit drinks on the other. I had to try the caramel iced coffee! The iced coffee comes in a fun little "can", a nice touch that makes for a good picture. This was really good! The coffee base itself tasted great and all the extras sweet stuff only made it better. I'd definitely get this again. Biscuits and gravy were very tasty. The gravy was perfect, but I really felt like biscuits were a bit small. My hashbrowns were done perfectly but lacked a little seasoning. Some salt and pepper from the table helped. Great sausage, but you get 2 small patties with your order which costs almost 5 bucks. A bit steep for what your getting in my opinion. Pancakes were decent. A good size and value with these but they're more dense than I like. They have cinnamon roll pancakes on the menu that I'd like to try on a re-visit, they looked amazing! Great food, good value, clean interior, and quiet setting! Great morning at breakfast. Very happy with our entire meal, skillets were amazing and pancakes were fluffy as pillows. Came with a large group of ladies for a brunch on the weekend. There are no reservations for this place but we were able to get on the wait-list once we arrived. We were seated and everyone had menus to order from. The orders were taken and food came out in a decent amount of time. The food was plenty and delicious. I ordered the hash stack which came with cinnamon toast already on the side. The pricing for this place you can't beat nowadays, breakfast dishes for under $20. Unassuming and hidden away from Downtown Mundelein, this breakfast and lunch place was a great find. Meeting up for breakfast for four at 1100am on a Sunday, we found this place nicely decorated and filling up with fellow diners--by 1130am it was packed. Our server, Liza, had us laughing as we ordered. Coffee and special "canned" non-alcoholic beverages were flavorful and innovative. Our food arrived very expeditiously and was perfect--crispy hash browns, and all. Nothing was missed, drinks were always filled, and entrees were delicious. California Omelettes, over medium eggs, crispy chicken fried steak and light, fluffy pancakes...everyone was happy! Liza is a true asset to this place as was our hostess. The restaurant is small on the inside. The decorations are cute. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast and lunch items. We ordered a meat lovers skillet and omelette. Both were absolutely delicious. You get a choice with the skillet of the type of potato you would like. I got the red potatoes and I definitely recommend that over hash browns. A must try. I came here a few weeks ago. I'll start by saying that the server was wonderful and attentive. I ordered the chicken and waffles and did not like it. There was way too much batter on the chicken and I think it was fried for too long. The chicken was dry and under seasoned on top of that. I want to suggest putting syrup or honey on the side instead of putting it on the waffle before serving it. It gave a sickly sweet feel to the dish. Maybe also include a dipping sauce read more

A hidden gem!! Yes, Hawley street is a busy street, but this restaurant is nestled in between a medical supply and an engine shop. First, the restaurant is very clean. My wife checked the bathrooms, always a good sign. The best part and most important is the food. I got their meat trio skillet, nothing fancy, but the scrambled eggs were delicious. Normally, the egg is an oversight and they are overcooked. These were light and fluffy. Their pancakes had a hint of vanilla, for next time not as much syrup needed. My wife got their vegetable omelette with their rosemary potatoes. It is a $1.00 up charge but worth for them. We found our new go to spot! Walking into a new breakfast restaurant in Mundelien and it was remodeled and clean. Coffee was thin and lack luster as it tasted like Folgers. The small stack chocolate chip pancakes were humongous but the chips were just placed on top and the pancakes were were dry. I guess worth the $9 to fill my 12 year old up but wouldn't go there for pancakes. The chicken fried steak was better with the eggs hash-browns, onions and cheese. It was a good deal and very flavorful for the $14. Bonnie was the only server working with 7 tables full when we got there and very overwhelmed. She had a bubbly personality and got us the food delivered to our table quickly. Management needs to get her help as she was the best part of this place. I give this a 5/10 and expected what we got out of a not so large restaurant in downtown Mundelein. It's not the $18 per plate place these other places are but food was a hit / miss so far. I'll try again in a few months but has to improve quality of pancakes and coffee. read more

We went Sunday morning at 8 am for the first time and REALLY enjoyed ourselves. It was not that busy at 8 am but started to very busy at we sat there. The place is very cute inside with a choice of booths and tables. The hostess and our waitress were very nice. Our food was delicious and the potions were pretty big. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled, bacon, hash browns, and English muffin. My husband got the breakfast sandwich that was on a croissant with sausage. Yummy! Coffee was great and they provided refills. This restaurant recently opened (within the past few weeks) and we saw it out of the corners of our eyes as we were driving past (it's slightly off of the main street) and decided we'd check it out. Today was that day. Upon entering, I'd say there about a half a dozen booths and probably a dozen or so other tables. The restaurant is very comfortable and inviting. As the restaurant is new, there were a few hiccups that I would probably due to the newness of getting procedures to flow. Bonnie, our waitress, was very attentive and professional. She was cordial with everyone at the restaurant and made them feel at home. She took our order: a hash scrambler, and a sweet honey omelet (named after the cafe, not the ingredients!) I did ask for omelet without green peppers and she did indicate it on her ordering pad. All of the food was good, but with one exception...the green pepper omission. Bonnie came over and asked how things were. I pointed out the pepper I had found and she was very apologetic (also checking to see if I was allergic--can you be allergic to green peppers?). I said it wasn't a big problem since I'd gone through about 1/3 of the omelet and only found the one, so I said no to having it remade. Unfortunately there were more hiding at the other end. When she came back to refill drinks and pick up plates, she was mortified at the little pile, and went back to the chef to talk to them. When she came with the bill, she apologized and said the owner would take a bit off the bill--it was a bit more generous than just a bit. Even though the peppers were a little off putting, the rest of the food was good, and the situation was handled very professionally. I'll definitely give it another go next time I'm in the area for breakfast (or lunch, since their menu did have burgers and cheese curds as a side!) read more
