    Cocinha, cinnamon bun

This café is absolutely perfect! I recently moved and this place caught my eye from the moment I passed by it. When I walked in, I was struck by how bright, airy, and full of life the space felt. The interior is beautifully decorated--tons of natural light, cozy seating, and plenty of greenery, which added to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the chicken coxinha, a cinnamon bun, and a tea latte, and everything exceeded my expectations. Coming from a neighborhood rich in Brazilian culture, I've had my fair share of coxinha, but this one was by far the best I've ever had. (As you can see the picture was taken after I had a bite because I couldn't wait) The filling was flavorful, the dough perfectly crisp on the outside and I loved the added onions, and it had that just-right balance of creamy and savory inside. The cinnamon bun was another standout--so soft, gooey, and packed with cinnamon goodness. I barely got to enjoy it because my partner stole it from me (which pretty much says it all). This café is a place I'll be coming back to. If you love Brazilian treats, a beautiful ambiance, and a cozy spot to unwind, this is the place to be! I can't wait to try the brigadeiros next time.

The açaí flavor at Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe tastes just like what it does in Brazil! This place is a good way to taste the Brazilian Açaí in Wisconsin. I got my açaí bowl to-go & it was an easy delivery process. A few things I would change are making the bowls bigger (only one size) & making the açaí not as icy. I would come back here again.

I can't even gatekeep this place because it was so drop-dead aesthetic, it needed its moment here, hence the dump of pictures. Thanks to the Yelp event that was being hosted, I was able to find this cute, underrated cafe spot! We were treated to a brigadeiro (pictured) and two specialty drinks for the holiday season- the snowball latte topped with a coconut brigadeiro and peppermint latte with a dollop of whipped cream. Sweet Joy is the epitome of how a place enhances your cafe experience. For one, it's in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Brady St. Second, the natural light floods the space with no holding back. You walk in to a place decorated with plants vining in and out of window corners and a wonderful host, Marcia. If you take a second to Google Brazilian cafe aesthetic, you'll find a bunch of Pinterest boards "Best Brazil Cafe Ideas" and Sweet Joy looks just like it. The plants, the fragrance of coffee beans, and the faint rustle of people cooking in the kitchen is everything- this place serves. I'm sure I'll be back for the back room study spot here or deep catch-up convo with a friend.

A very hidden but amazing cafe on Brady St! I was in town for the day and looking to hit up as many coffee shops and I'm so glad we made it a priority to stop here! Everything was reasonably priced and the employee was really sweet and kind! Everything is so green and relaxing inside. I would love to go back and hang out and enjoy all of the sun light that comes in!

Beautiful and amazing small business. Got to meet the owner who was working and without knowing who she was we had a good chat going on. The coffee was really great and deliciously made. We ordered 2 ice coffees and a bunch of desserts. The coffee was freshly made. The pastries were recently made and warmed up. I fully recommend this coffee shop. Don't be in a rush as items are made to order to get them fresh. Coming back soon. I wanted to try and speak Portuguese with the owner but I was rusty. - Obrigado pelo café

Ambiance: love it! Very cozy and eclectic decor. Nicely done! The coffee was really good, it has a nice unique flavor. We also tried the Brazilian lemonade, one of my favorites theirs is a little limey but still good just be prepared it's sour. The brigadeiros are amazing!! The ham and cheese pastry was delicious.

Cute, well-themed cafe with delicious bites and sips! We got the Coxinha, Pão de queijo, Guaraná and the Salted Shaker with house-made caramel! The salted shaker was so rich and creamy and the Coxinha was crispy on the outside with a pillowy texture and bold flavor on the inside. The service was excellent, he offered to bring the drinks out first while the food cooks(made to order). Thoroughly enjoyed and it was a wonderful experience overall! I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu

Having lived in Brazil, I was excited to get in a place with "Brazil" in the name. It's quaint and refreshing, and a lot bigger than it seems at first sight. Just make sure you walk around the back behind the counter to find rooms with seating areas, including a swinging chair. Very "sweet" vibes all over. The gal at the front was also nice, but a bit on the quiet side. The owner moved back and forth from the kitchen and talked to the gal in Portuguese and had a lot more energy but didn't say anything to me personally. I wish she had - I love conversing with people from Brazil as it brings me back fond memories. Some suggestions is that I wish they had more Brazilian style coffee choices... Like cafe com leite, and cafezinho... Just bring a little more Brazil to the place. Other than "brigadeiro", they seem to shy away from Portuguese lingo in general in their menu. I was excited to see coxinhas in their warm case. They're chicken croquettes, which I used to eat almost everyday for lunch at school. They were smaller than I remembered, but quite delicious. I did feel that the curry taste was a bit stronger than I'm used to, but it has been a while since I've had authentic Brazilian fare. I got five that were hanging out in their wam case, and one that had just come out from the kitchen.... and the one that had just come out of the kitchen was sooo good. I wish they had just given all six from the kitchen. It really makes a difference! Maybe these would be better in a menu rather than displayed in a warm case... Very sweet experience and thankful to have discovered another Milwaukee gem! can't wait to try their other Brazilian treats!

I've been lucky to find another spot that offers an acai bowl that isn't soupy (seriously, not sure why it's hard to find good consistency with these bowls!). I mostly checked out Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe because I hadn't been and I was curious about what they had. My coffee order was simple - an iced latte. The bakery items in their window grabbed my attention when I saw the coffee cake. But on that menu were THREE Açaí bowl options - maybe that made me more excited than it should have - the photo doesn't do it justice, but it's definitely worth ordering (especially with the chocolate chips... treat yourself, haha!).

    Highly recommend the bakery mix!

Visited this cafe at about 12:30PM on a Saturday and it was quite busy! Surprised to see someone performing and singing with a guitar there and it was absolutely lovely. The staff are all very friendly. Pace could be a bit slow so it's not your workday grab n go type of coffee shop. They use beans from Ruby Coffee Roasters and have a shiny La Marzocco machine in store. Those definitely tell me they are serious about (or trying to be good at) their coffee. I got a cortado and I would say it's a bit over extracted so it tasted a bit bitter, but let's give the cafe some time to improve as it just opened! I also got a misto quente (ham and cheese w sweet mustard) sandwich and Brazilian bakery mix. They were served warm and tasted pretty good!

What a Sweet Joy Indeed! I was having a hard day at work and needed a treat to brighten my day. I headed to Sweet Joy, which is a new Brazilian Café on the East Side on Brady Street. The staff was super helpful in recommending what to get. They have a variety of Brazilian savory and sweet treats and really delicious coffee. The cafe is very bright, filled with gorgeous tropical plants, and as you step into the cafe, you feel warm and sunny and definitely changes your mood. I got the Brazilian mix of savory treats - bread, cheese, and meat with a cappuccino. I also got a mini cake to devour later. The cafe has a swing as well and was fun to forget the world around yourself and have fun swinging. Thank you SJ for a moment of fun!

I visited this cafe on the very snowy-est wisconsin morning so far this season. And the warm and sweet welcome, drinks, and desserts were just what the doctor ordered. They have all the usually coffee bar items you'd expect as well as some unusual items like matcha latte and passion fruit juice. I was pleased to see many of the old items I remember from brewed are still there (pressed tin ceiling, large painted angel, lots of plants). They also sell bulk coffee to go. Most importantly for a coffeehouse, the honey latte macciato I had was delicious! So glad to have this place back as a coffeehouse!

This is a cute cafe! I stopped in for an iced coffee. Staff were friendly and efficient. This place is honestly a lot larger than I anticipated! When you first walk in, it's the counter of baked goods and the area to order your beverage. Towards the back and side are a couple different seating areas. Would stop back next time I'm in the area.

Very small selection of pastries. Brigadeiros were cold, dry, and the chocolate was of low quality. Cute ambiance and friendly staff.

I love sandwiches and knew I had to try the pastrami. It was fantastic. I've been trying to cut back on caffeine and I instead went with one of their refreshers on the menu. It was I believe and 'Blue and Grapefruit' - and that wasn't my favorite as someone who doesn't really care for grapefruit that much. I got it thinking it would be diluted a bit, SO, if you like grapefruit, I'm sure it's perfect for you. I also got a peanut butter oreo pie and wish I took a picture of it...but I devoured it too quick to even think about it. For me, that dessert was the definite highlight of the cafe. I'll definitely come back on more weekends when I have a craving for pastrami.

I ordered a London Fog Tea Latte, with a little lavender and a little vanilla, in a mug. The barista did a nice job and gave the tea a good long steep. It had excellent flavor, and the temperature was right (about 140°F). It would have been even better with a bit more foam on top. For bakery items, they had a big pile of large cookies (cowboy?), but not much else. The food menu is a little sparse but has some good options for breakfast or lunch sandwiches. I ordered a Cubano sandwich, which turned out to be an excellent choice. It came out hot, with nicely grilled bread and savory meats inside. The roasted pork was especially tender and flavorful. It came with a small container of slaw, which was a little uninspiring. Service: The person who took my order and made my drink did a nice job. She took her time and did a good job with the drink. I appreciated that they delivered both the drink and the food to the table. She was a bit soft-spoken and a little hard to hear with the music playing. Efficient, but not especially outgoing. Atmosphere: The space has a bit of an industrial minimalist feel. High ceilings with the mechanicals in plain sight, along with colorful paint and design elements. Seating can accommodate groups of different sizes, though there aren't too many spots ideal for couples. The space can be a bit echoey, and the volume of the music could make conversation challenging at times. It's a nice spot for groups to hang out, and there was a larger table where people were working and collaborating. A decent spot for hanging out at lunch or later in the afternoon.
