It's a cute restaurant with a nice atmosphere and great workers. However the food is abundantly average. Nothing really stood out or wowed me. Their smoothies also don't have all the ingredients listed. I assumed that they were. All smoothies get frozen yogurt and milk added to them unless you ask them not to, they can make it with orange juice and ice instead. As someone with a dairy allergy this was extremely frustrating. Court House has been missing a dedicated salad place, so Sweet Leaf is a welcome addition. What I hadn't realized, having only been for lunch at their Vienna and McLean locations, is how good their breakfast sandwiches are. Get the Malibu Melt, which has an egg, bacon, avocado, and provolone cheese. They should really just call it the All That Is Good In The World sandwich. I haven't tried the salads at the Arlington location, but when I've gone to the others, the Santa Fe has been my favorite. Or really anything with cranberries in a salad. I'm a sucker for cranberries in a salad. I can't recommend the smoothies, unfortunately. They're made with frozen yogurt, which gives it a really odd taste. But if you're really craving a smoothie, just go a block over to Euro Market. One other thing to note: The interior is really well done. Apparently one of the owners has a degree in interior design, and it shows. There is a neat little sitting room in the back. I got two sandwiches here for a bus trip and they held up really well until we finally dove into them 7 hours later. I chose the SoCali sandwich on a french baguette. The baguette had a nutty aroma and was chewy and delicious. The SoCali had a generous heaping of turkey, herb aioli, and alfafa sprouts that worked well together. BUT the staff either forgot to put in bacon or put very little in because I couldn't taste it at all. I mean, don't we sometimes order something for the sake of bacon as an ingredient? I've been to this location a few times, as well as the Mclean location. I love Sweet Leaf. I keep wanting to try one of their salads, but the caprese panini keeps pulling me back. I like it on farmers bread (ask for light on the pesto). They use a nice amount of fresh, thick mozzarella, which is good. I recently tried their vegetable noodle soup, which I liked, but was a bit oily. I've had the cookies and ice cream as well, and the flavors I've tried are tasty. Initially someone reached out and I went back and this became a go to for me. I loved the breakfasts and the sandwiches and of course, the salads. A few weeks ago, while they were making a salad for my husband, we saw a cockroach crawl up and around the food. The food here is on point. Well, the one salad I've tried is so good that I can't even bring myself to try anything else! But the whole menu looks great. I come here exclusively for the San Ramon salad. Fresh pesto made in-house, freshly sliced Provolone, freshly cut avocado, fresh greens... You see where I'm going here! Fresh! I sub in smoked salmon for the chicken (which is no extra charge by the way) and add in sprouts. I'm a Chop't loyalist but this salad is making me stray. Also these salads are BIG, people! Come hungry! Great study spot too-- strong coffee, wi-fi, outlets a plenty, good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. And a little cozy nook in the back. Way better study/work spot than Cozi or Corner Bakery if you're in Courthouse. They lose a star for me on the service. Sweet leaf...apple of my eye... Sweet leaf is a really good lunch time spot. For the most part, I try to eat healthy and sweet leaf doesn't disappoint with its healthy options. I mostly go there because of their leaf wrap, its the same exact concept of a regular wrap but they use a leaf instead - cuts down the calories and carbs. I made my own wrap and it was very good, I do sometimes think the prices might be too high for lunch but the ingredients are fresh and the product is always good - so I can I don't mind paying it every so often. I made my own wrap and added avocado for $1 extra and got a banana - the total came around to $11. I'm happy that sweet leaf is in the courthouse area, it's a great place to frequent for a healthy meal. read more

I've been to Sweat Leaf twice now. It sort of feels like a less-healthy Sweetgreen, and ordering is a lot more confusing. First time I got a Harvest Bowl, which is actually a pretty good deal for the price, but they forgot the quinoa until I noticed and pointed it out to them. Second time, I got a Fresh Stack veggie sandwich and a California Cobb salad. So, unlike Sweetgreen where you get helped by the same person the whole time while you build your salad there are about five different people at Sweet Leaf involved in making your food. When I ordered my salad and sandwich with the first person and requested customizations like no banana peppers and mustard instead of mayo, she shrugged and had me move down the line, and then there was no communication from staff about which food items were mine or whether I wanted to change anything up. So I ended up getting banana peppers I had asked to be left off and a ton of mayo I was hoping to replace with mustard. Speaking of mustard, when I asked for mustard instead of mayo, they said they didn't have mustard! So I had to press a bit and it turns out they only have spicy mustard. Which is fine, I like spicy mustard... that is still considered mustard! Altogether, it was a weird, confusing experience both times where I felt like I had to keep a close eye employees to make sure my food was as ordered. Really just hit or miss. I have gotten both the San Remo salad and the caprese sandwich. The food is pretty yummy, but it's the service that is so hit or miss. I went today and finally had to write a review after the service I received. I order the San remo salad and requested to sub tofu for chicken. He says ok, and proceeds to yell into the kitchen asking for tofu to which he returns and says oh we're out of tofu....okkk. I switch to the caprese sandwich as I don't want any meats. He says alright and STARES at me in silence for about 10 seconds to which I finally say "what?" And he shrugs towards the bread. Only then do I know that I'm supposed to make my bread selection. "Oh baguette" to which he chuckles. I think this was supposed to be a cute and charming joke ? But it was totally off putting and obnoxious. ASK and TELL the customer to select their bread first please. I asked for no balsamic but extra pesto. There is absolutely no more pesto than normal. The whole interaction was awkward and uncomfortable as I was the only one in the restaurant. At least attempt a tiiiiny but to improve your customers experience. I also wasn't offered a pickle at check out, which I have been every single other time I've been there. I wasn't asked whether I'd like it to go or to stay, it was just automatically shoved in a to go container. To top it off, I was asked if I wanted a bag after I paid, to which I said no. Literally within SECONDS I said "oh I'm sorry yes please!" To which he sighed and somewhat scoffed, causing me to apologize and say I'm so sorry. I should not need to be apologizing for changing my mind literally within 3 seconds. I'll give it another chance for the food, but the customer service is completely inconsistent and frustrating, so I don't know how much longer I'll keep coming. read more

For what it is, this place is ideal. I usually get a salad at this cozy eatery when I'm feeling like a healthy light meal. A suitable meal after a weekend of debauchery and gluttony. Having now ventured into the fast casual salad world of Chop't and sweet green, I can say that Sweet Leaf is the superior in this category. I think it's because the salad greens are fresher. All of the ingredients used just seem slightly better which gives them the edge. Maybe it's because when you dine-in they serve the salads in a big steel mixing bowl. The chicken is no doubt tastier and more recently cooked than other places. I feel like when I get a salad here it's worth the $ and it's cheaper than sweet green. I haven't tried any of the breakfast sandwich options. Coffee is good, especially iced. One critique: I'd like more breakfast options. read more

The smoothies are made with real fruit-they literally put it in the cup in front of you. Lots of options to choose from, like mango, blackberries, and strawberries. Then they top the cup with a large amount of frozen yogurt. I would eat it just like that, but since it's a smoothie they mix it together and whala! A healthy and delicious smoothie! On a Friday afternoon heading to the zoo with friends, we decided to order from Sweet Leaf for the first time & we were excited! We ordered 3 signature sandwiches, a quesadilla and grilled cheese, ordered over the phone and picked up 15 min later, upon picking up the order, we grabbed some cookies too :) Once at the zoo, we opened our meals, starving, ready for some tasty delights and were completely disappointed, NOTHING was toasted!!! None of the signature sandwiches, the quesadilla or grilled cheese, everything was just there.....after spending over $40 nothing was like their website described. For a place that just opened less than 3 weeks ago, we expected more. It seems like another spot opening up in this area, charging for pricey sandwiches and not delivering. The hope was this would be an amazing experience, considering we live across the street, total bummer! I thought nothing could compare to sweet green - but I was wrong. Sweet leaf is better! I go here all the time and have had the Asian salad, Cobb salad, Santa Fe and caprese salad... All delicious! Tip - if you get the Santa Fe salad and want to make it lighter (no sour cream dressing) - try the chipotle chili dressing or jalapeño. Frozen yogurt and milk shakes are also really good! Don't forget to ask for a pickle with your salad - it's complimentary. The "community cafe" feel is homey and almost southern - which I love. This is a nice fresh/healthy lunch option for Courthouse. I've come in the evenings, and the place is completely dead, but during the afternoon there is always a line. I eat here about once a week, given the convenience of it in relation to my office. I don't like that when you add meat/cheese to your salad that the price of a salad jumps over $10. The dressings could be better. I prefer the flavor profiles from Sweetgreen and Chop't dressings much better. Italian is way too tangy and over-powering, and the balsamic vinaigrette seems to be only composed of balsamic vinegar (where's the vinaigrette?). My favorite dressing at Sweet Leaf is the champagne vinaigrette. I really like that they offer a pickle as an option instead of just bread! Some of the staff are friendly, and some are more stern/unfriendly. I find certain individuals don't listen well, and things can get pretty confused if you make your own salad. read more
