The salads here are ok. I don't know if it's what I got that day but I didn't care for their food. I ordered the mezzi bowl which came with a mix of different greens, saffron rice, falalel, and pita chips. I love saffron rice and falafel so I thought it would be a good choice. The falafel was a little dry and had a lemony taste which I didn't really like and the rice didn't taste like it had saffron in it (which defeats the whole purpose of calling it SAFFRON rice). My sister got the Sante Fe which we both didn't really care for. The sandwiches looked good and the staff was very nice and friendly. The seating inside is cute and they have some booths as well as tables (and outdoor seating). I'm willing to give this place another try and give their sandwich or different salad a shot. read more

The place is very small. It's picnic bench seating and the tables are shaped oddly...as in the shape of a slice of tree trunk. The ordering process is similar to that of a subway or Quiznos, however the menu is unique. I had the British Sandwich. The sandwich itself is $7.95 (comes with meat and cheese) and you get 4 additional toppings. There are a variety of toppings you can select from such as pesto, roasted tomatoes, lettuce, avocadoes etc etc...I would be careful though because the cashier machine screwed up the prices so my sandwich rang up at a higher price than it should have. The cashier was very lazy and didn't want to fix the price discrepancy until I asked her to talk to her manager....so the service isn't all that fab. But they are unintrusive and polite at best. The sandwich was delicious, but I don't know if I would go out of my way to come back here....it wouldn't be on the forefront of my eating list! read more

Prices seem to have increased since they got a new menu. Plus, I used to ask for a side of something like roasted kale or edamame and get it for free, now they charge me for it! Great salad place with a lot of vegetarian protein options, such as grilled tofu. I'm usually pretty sensitive to vegetables that haven't been sufficiently cleaned, and stay away from most salad bars, but I've never had a problem here. The dill dressing is worth the trip alone, and I've yet to find anything similar at the grocery store. The service staff is always pleasant and efficient. Since I live in the area, this is my go-to place whenever I feel like a salad (specifically, Asian chicken salad). Salad in general seem to be trendy right now, and while I feel that the quality of salads across most of these places are about the same, Sweet Leaf is cheaper, so it's a winner in my book. I think I've had a sandwich or two (probably the egg salad, but it's been a while and I don't remember exactly) here before and they were fine. I've come here with a friend and he was also impressed with his salad and sandwich choices. I've been here with my youngest daughter (when she was 4-6) and she was easily able to find food she could eat (although I'll say I the "kids' menu" feels a little limited, if you like having a separate kids' menu). I've never tried their shakes or ice cream, although during the warmer months, it seems like people come here specifically for that, so there must be something to it. The staff is friendly. I've come here once during the lunch time rush, when it was rather busy and finding a seat was a little difficult, but my experience during non-lunch time hours is that the place is much emptier, sometimes even rather dead (once, I wasn't even sure they were open, it was so empty - it could have been because it was an early dinner the day after Christmas and things seemed slow in general all over). I like the irregularly shaped hewn wood tables. During nice weather, I enjoy bringing my dog and eating outside. read more

I've been here twice and did not have that problem. They have wifi. A sub on a toasted baguette is pretty good. The pesto is garlicky goodness. A salad or a sub and a coke with tax is 10 bones. 6 stars for the place/menu... 4 stars for the kabobi bowl LOVE this place (specifically making my own salad with spinach and smoked salmon). I tried the kabobi bowl today (think Cava). It was delicious and (in typical Sweetleaf fashion) HUGE. Now, I also LOVE Cava, so that's what I used as a measuring stick. While I didn't love the overall taste (as compared to Cava), it was still delicious and best of all you get a lot. For my money I'd definitely come here and mix it into my Cava rotation. read more

I met my mom for a quick lunch near her office, she suggested we go to Sweet Leaf. When we arrived, there was no parking which at 1:15pm was fine with me, I figured it would be a good meal! We parked around the corner and went in. It is a very eclectic set-up with funky yet homey decor. A range of menu items from soup, sandwiches, and salads to ice cream and sweet treats! I had the California Cobb salad and my mom ordered the soup of the day. I really enjoyed my salad, it seemed healthy and filling. They don't skimp on your portions and the menu is reasonably priced. I was disappointed in the soup, the Barley Vegetable I think it was, was not very exciting. It reminded me of salted, celery water with small chunks of barley and carrot in it. Horrible customer service on the 9th-April-2021. Me and a coworker experienced a long wait time even though we were the only ones in line. They were filling online orders without acknowledging our presence at the counter. We had to wait for 10 minutes. However we remained calm and didn't say anything as this was our first time in the store. Meaning, the wait gave us time to look over the menu. However when paying for my to go order, I had to ask for a bag. I thought this was unusual she didn't automatically bag my food. Moreover when I asked for a bag, she threw it on the counter for me to bag it myself. I'm not sure where the hostility comes from, as we didn't complain or say anything negative to the staff. Clean inside, fresh and organized food layout, and friendly smiles with light banter. I ordered the California Cobb salad and it was a hefty portion. Very bad experience, for starters they changed the menu to a smaller section of menu. They don't have as much salad as they use to have. Now they only have 3 types of salad. Second the service was very bad, we waited for a long time to get our salad. The portion isn't equal the amount of money the Cobb salad was awful they literally put on the salad 2 squished cherry tomatoes the portion was awful the avacados where old and it was less than 1/3 of a whole avocado. Avoid this place at all cost save your money. Go to cava or Zoe's, cheaper and better quality of food. read more

They made my salad pretty quick, but it was not mixed. What was the reason? They were very slow considering it was the middle of the day and the global pandemic is definitely slowing things down. There was no excuse to not mix my salad. If I wanted unmixed salad ingredients, I would have saved my money and gone to a grocery store. We were so excited about trying this place but ended up very disappointed. Though we are not vegetarian we never eat conventional meat and usually try not to eat meat products most of the time. It took us some time to sort through the menu. We found only two salads and one sandwich that was vegetarian, so we ordered the salads. The lady started suggesting that we add some chicken or egg and I told her we are vegetarians and she said "oh, you came to the right place". With puzzlement we just looked at each other and smiled. The guy who was about to make our salad was wearing gloves and wiping down the cutting board with a towel. He put the towel down in a small container behind him and started making our salads without changing the gloves. Hello? Cross-contamination! I only hope that container had sanitizer in it. The salads were mediocre at best. My salad, the Santa Fe, had some sort of creamy dressing on it but very little so I went back to ask for more and the lady gave me a salsa dressing different from what the guy put on. Ok fine, didn't think it would matter since the guy used so little of the other one. My wife's salad was the Positano which had so sort of Italian dressing. Both dressings had no balance to them and were overly acidic. Generic food service stuff perhaps. When you look around there is no mention of anything organic just innuendo of healthy.... good for you blah blah blah. This place is a obviously a SweetGreen rip off. Excellent food and service in a great location! The San Remo sandwich is phenomenal, especially paired with a smoothie in which you choose any combination of fruits you like. Love the healthy menu and the earthy decor, it fits the vibe of the restaurant to a T! Service is fast and friendly and the owner, Arita, is courteous and always on top of all operations. San Remo is the way to go - I usually get it on a French baguette. If you are into salads go with the Southwestern. Love the vibe at the venue, the staff is nice and always remembers me which is really awesome. I've talked to the owner a couple times, they seem like they really care about your experience there. This is my new favorite salad place. I used to go to Potbelly for salads but this place is way better. Everything is really fresh and you can see them make your salad so you can see what's going in. The portions are large and they also give you a piece of bread and you can request pickles free of charge too! For the price you get a lot of food, way more than Potbelly or Panera. The staff is also really friendly and it's very clean. So far, I've tried the Cobb and Asian Chicken and both were delicious. I want to try them all! I go there all the time for lunch. The owner is always there with a smile and you can tell because the quality of both food and service are excellent. The salad bar is sparkling with fresh ingredients and the sandwiches are top notch. Sometimes, I splurge and get the smoothies or soups which are freshly made. I used to go to the bakery shop down the street but the service was bad (owner always yelling at his employees) and the sandwiches have average. Lastly, I think the other reviews are a bit harsh, especially when they complain of the prices being expensive. Fresh produce is not cheap, if you want a cheap salad or sandwich then go to McDonalds or Subway. I think $7-8 for a gourmet salad with fresh cut avocado, roasted peppers, etc is very fair. As for finding the portion being small that is crazy, the salads are the size of a child's head. Definitely I gem in Vienna!!! read more

I had the Asian Chicken salad and it was super yummy. It has a strong lime flavor, so if you like that kind of thing you should try it. Funnily, the chicken itself wasn't that good...still, I'm a big fan of the various salad bars in DC. So it's nice to finally have one in Vienna. The place is small - cozy - but cute. Thrilled to have this adorable spot close to home. When I stopped in for dinner, there were a few customers eating, but no line. I was a bit hesitant to order the Fresh Stack sandwich, since all-veggie sandwiches sometimes end up being more like crudites stuck between two slices of dry bread. I'm so glad I took the risk. This sandwich far exceeded expectations. The farmer bread (a soft, fresh sourdough) was toasted with swiss cheese, and then topped with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, sprouts, bell pepper, and red onion. I appreciated the obvious care taken by the ladies behind the counter as they meticulously stacked the veggies onto the broad leaf of lettuce before carefully placing the whole stack on the sandwich. As a finishing touch, the bread was slathered with guacamole. My sandwich came with a side of spicy veggie relish salsa, and the guacamole had a bit of a kick, so be warned if you are sensitive to spicy foods. The sandwich was definitely big enough for me, although I do see other reviewers' points that Sweetleaf doesn't compare to the portion sizes at Chipotle. One thing I would like to see are more side dish options, like potato or macaroni salad, or maybe a half sandwich with salad option. They may already have these options, but I didn't see them on the menu board. For the outstanding quality here, I will definitely be skipping past the Chipotle and Noodles and Co. across the street and grabbing my lunch at Sweetleaf from now on. read more
