I'm actually now subtracting a star from today's recent visit to the restaurant. Food was good overall, and I liked the new fish sandwich, but staff training on the menu could be improved. My brother asked about the pork souvlaki over the gyro, and the employee told him they were "the same," even though both are listed separately on the menu. As Greeks, we know they're different items with different cooking methods and textures. The employee ended up getting him a gyro even though he wanted souvlaki. Not a huge deal, but it could definitely confuse customers who specifically want one or the other. Hopefully this is something management can clarify with newer staff going forward. read more

We like the variety on the menu and having another causal Greek place in the area. We had the calamari for an app, I had pork souvlaki bowl (which was a tad heavy), and my wife had the shrimp salad. Good food, but I would need to remember to ask for no sauce next time (it wasn't listed among the toppings, so I didn't know). read more

Ever since Skorpios in Vienna closed down, my family has been searching high and low for a suitable replacement. We have found luck with Plaka's but in the spirit of trying new things I decided to check out The Big Greek Cafe on Doordash. My shrimp Greek salad was absolutely phenomenal: great portions, fresh veggies that were chopped in a dainty manner, and flavor for days. I can't wait to check out their other menu items which include $7 gyros on Wednesdays (a steal!) as well as catering options. I can see why this is a Maryland favorite and so glad to see this restaurant in my neck of the woods. read more

Welcome to Oakton! Best pita bread ever - so pillowy soft - the bomb. Sandwich was stuffed with chicken, yum, would have liked less sauce. Next time will order online where it's easy to customize (and maybe just get the pita only :) We live right around the corner, will def be back. read more

What a great find! Found this gem last week on the way home from the office. Great decor, bright and inviting. Associates working were friendly and made sure I understood the menu. Ordered the gyro pita and Big Greek gyro bowl. The presentation for both was amazing. Loved the gyro in paper rather than foil like I get it from other places. I lived overseas and this rivaled some of the great small family owned locations I've been to. The gyro sandwich was packed so full of meat I only ate half and ate the rest later. The Big Greek bowl was full of fresh veggies that provided a nice crunch and contrast to the gyro meat. When you made it to the bottom you find some rice that will help finish off the dressings you applied. Bowl was served with fresh, warm pita! Took my son two sittings to finish also. Great news is the veggies stayed crunchy the next day! Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in Oakton. read more

Enjoyed the dolmas and small Greek salad. SO had a gyro bowl. The dolmas were served warm which made them soft. I wasn't used to that, but the flavor was there. The Greek salad was very good I enjoyed the dressing. The pitawas soft , pillowy and fresh. Really enjoyed that. The gyro bowl was very large, and he could only eat half. Took the rest home, he said the meat was freshly carved and tasty. Service was very good, and everyone was kind. Will go again to try more things. read more

The food here was good, and the quantity was very generous, which I loved. We got the Chicken Bowls, and it was very filling! The taste was fresh and I enjoyed eating it. Restaurant was a little small but very clean. Overall, the service was friendly and fairly quick. read more

With the "Now Open" sign still outside, we tried this place for the first time on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. They were busy, but the line was short and we were able to order with a couple of minutes. I ordered the Moussaka and then learned it had two sides with it. It was a large portion for just one person. (This Moussaka had a lot of tomato sauce on it which I could have done without). After I ate half, I asked if they had a "Kids/Senior" size portion and the answer was no; so into the take home box it went. It had a nice taste but was rather plain.....just the way i like it. My wife had the Chicken Strips which was another large portion. Lesson learned: Order one entree and split or just know you will have something to take home. The Baklava went directly into the take home bag. It only survived until we arrived home. It was also very tasty. This restaurant was extremely clean and had nice Greek(?) music playing which helped set the mood. We will be back! read more

We have been looking for a replacement for skorpios since it closed and were very happy to be told about the Big Greek cafe in Oakton. Though it is a little ways down the street for us, it is well worth the trip. We started with the hummus and pita and then had the gyro pita and feta fries. Everything was tasty and the portions were good. The baklava was so yummy. I don't know what honey they use but it was especially tasty! The space is bright and cheerful as is the staff. They are super friendly! There is starting inside or you can carry out. The parking is a very big lot so it is never a problem read more

Big Greek Cafe is quickly becoming my go-to Greek restaurant in the area. The staff is friendly and the food delicious. My favorite order is the bowl. I've had it with pork and with salmon. It's always packed with fresh ingredients and generous portions (I usually end up with leftovers for the next couple days). The grape leaves are also delicious, and whatever you do, don't skip dessert. The baklava cheesecake is sooo good! read more

Stopped in for a Gyro Platter plus desserts and with at least 40 minutes until closing the clerk told me, rudely that they close at and will start clean up and I could not have it there!!! We order delivery through Uber regularly and the food is always hot and fresh. Our kids love the Greek style grilled cheese on pita bread. I usually get a bowl which is always filling and should last two meals but I end up eating the whole thing. My husband has gotten a gyro and the Greek lasagna. Both were delicious! Great addition to the Oakton Shopping Center! Love their $7 gyro special on Wednesdays which I try to fit in my schedule if I can keep my days straight. I am really disappointed that this restaurant replaced the Souvlaki Bar Cafe. The menu options and quality of food has definitely gone downhill. The Souvlaki Bar offered a delicious variety of tasty kebabs, exciting hummus choices, tasty bowls filled with abundant, flavorful toppings and of course Souvlaki. I'm not a gyro fan but I like authentic Greek Food with ties to Detroit's Greektown. I ordered moussaka with two sides: Greek potatoes and Greek salad. It was tasty but had too much salt to my taste. The moussaka was a large portion; almost two servings, get the tomato sauce on the side if you don't want too much sauce. The bottom of the moussaka was very thin and hard though; it might have been the potato layer; although the bechamel on top was very good. Got food here for the first time yesterday and will definitely be back! The Melizano Salata is delicious and the pita bread is a step above any I've had before. I also got the Spanakopita appetizer and the "Big Greek French Fries" side. The Spanakopita is very crispy and the filling has the perfect amount of mint flavor.
