We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. Went for dinner on a Thursday night (group of 6) and we had the place to ourselves for most of the night. On Thursday's, they have a Special 3 Course Menu for $30 from 5-9PM. You get a house salad, soup of the day and (1) Entree. It's also BYOB :) so we had brought wine; our waitress brought us a bucket with ice right away. We started with an appetizer (not included in the special) and tried the Crab Bites with remoulade dip. I ordered a $48 ribeye and asked for medium rare. There was no pink at all. It was well done. I needed to add salt as there seemed to be no seasonings except for the canned corn that was on top. The steak seemed to be a very low grade choice cut of meat. I needed to saw it and could only stomach eating half of the steak. The mashed potatoes it came with was okay. $48 seems like a normal price for a mid level restaurant that serves prime steak. This steak did not even live up to chain restaurant quality. It did however have beautiful crossed grill marks. Sad to say, it was just not good. The calamari was mushy, overly fishy and very very salty. I typically expect the breading to be crispy. But this seemed like it was pre-prepared frozen and microwaved. The sauce was pretty much like pizza sauce. I did not care for the ambience, but I can see where some people might find it fun. My server was very polite. The person running the meals out seemed very rushed. The location is great in the middle of Pitman. I feel like there's potential, but Sweet Lula's definitely needs to up the quality of the ingredients, especially the steak being the most expensive item on the menu. read more

Very accommodating for our big party of 11. Our group had a variety of appetizers and meals. Cheese plate, calamari, tuna. Bang bang shrimp was a standout. Pastas were tasty, salmon great, and chicken tikka masala a surprise hit. Steaks came out a little undercooked first time out but were quickly rectified. Just went here for valentine's day and had an awful experience. Not only did it take over an hour and a half for our entrees. Our waitress took our order and didn't come back until it was time for the check. She didn't refill waters or even ask if we wanted a soft drink or cocktail (which I would have asked for if she had came around more than one time) Nobody in the restaurant including the owner even looked our way when we walked in. Let's start with the food. My chicken Florentine had no spinach and it was drenched with sauce. The place is a BYOB. It took forever to get wine glasses so my husband went up and grabbed two wine glasses from the wine rack. They forgot to give us our appetizers which they left them on someone else's table, so we canceled the apps. The service was horrible not enough servers and this was on Saturday, 2/15/25 to celebrate Valentines. The restaurant is so bright and not romantic at all. We will not be coming back. When we asked if she would offer us a discount to come back & try again another time, she just said "no we don't do discounts". She tried to say they didn't have time to fix us our food because we had show tickets at the theater across the street for 2:00 but I know that they close at 2:00 pm & we're cleaning up so guess we just weren't worth staying open later to make our eggs & avocado toast. The service, staff & ownership here were all the worst. Not worth your time or money. Wish I could give them zero stars! We ended up going across the street to Mama Marie's deli who went out of their way to whip us up a really great chicken salad sandwich in minutes. They are the ones who deserve 5 stars. read more

I don't like writing bad reviews, unless it is really warranted. I'm not going to offer all the details, yet I will underscore the inappropriate behavior of the owner with the hope she finds away to apologize to us. And in the hope that she learns about professionalism, Courteousness, respect for her guests, and that she understands that there is always an expectation of customer service excellence, especially at the price points on the food. 1. Learn to smile and greet your guests with concern about their experience, not yours. We are about to spend a few $100 at your place to have a good time. 2. Never challenge a customer when they tell you they don't like their meal and want to send it back. To stand there and berate her was something I have never seen in my 50 years of dining. Take the dish away and ask if she wants something else. You don't come back and say " the Chef said it was perfect" everyone at our table has money. No one was trying to get out of paying. To cause a scene and ruin our night, is inexcusable. Everyone has a bad night. We are all carrying a burden no one knows about. You need to build the competency of self awareness if you going to be at the front end of the restaurant. 3. As for the food: one guest didn't get her meal. And when she did, it was meh. The wedge salad was blah. And one meal was over salty. Everyone has an off night in the kitchen. But marry that with an owner with a bad attitude, it makes the entire experience at your restaurant a bad one. I hope you get your act together. I will never come back. Where to begin.. The hostess was rude and the food was cold. Not just some of the food, every plate! The servers were very nice and you could tell they were trying their best to take care of their tables. The food looked pretty but it was completely unorganized coming out of the kitchen. The servers were stumbling over each other trying to find what food was for what table and the warming lights they had the food under must of just been for show because they weren't warming anything. The best part of the meal was the champagne we brought and we were lucky to have an hour to enjoy it before any of our cold food came out. I also drug my kids to two different bathrooms looking for soap which neither of them had. Oh, they had white paper on the table tops so at least the crayons I brought kept my kids busy. Unfortunately when we told the front of house about our meals being cold, he said he would take care of it and not sure what he took care of because the bill was the same and he was then taking pictures of the food sitting under the fake warming lights instead of helping the servers get their food out faster. I really wanted this to be a great meal and to find a nice local place to enjoy with my family. I'll keep looking. read more

They had posted a special Mother's Day Brunch menu and I was very excited about the menu items. When my son and I arrived we were told they were only serving the dinner menu. Apps were not hot. Chicken picatta was ok but did not resemble picatta. The one positive was that the salmon was good. We will obviously never return and we will be sure to share our experience! The waitress said our food would take longer than normal because of the show which is fine but then people started coming in after us and getting served before us after waiting over and hour. The waitress came over to us and asked if we had received our food yet. When we finally got it mine was fine but my husbands steak was over cooked. They offered to make a new one and so we decided to wait. When it came out the second time with was practically raw. Even the couple sitting next to us said the steak didn't look cooked. In Pitman's redevelopment, Sweet Lulas has emerged as perhaps its most upscale restaurant. It is conveniently located on Broadway across from the Broadway Theatre and also it is right around the corner from the historic district of Pitman Grove. But the food is of course the primary interest here and Sweet Lulas does deliver. A small group of us ordered and shared many items on the menu beginning with a tasty fried and shredded Brussels sprouts appetizer. This is a great shared item that pairs nicely with the biscuit-like bread brought to the table. I really enjoyed my bacon, mushroom, walnuts, and gorgonzola salad while others raved about the roasted beet and caprese salads. My entrée of Chicken Marsala Oscar registered high on the likeability scale with a nice blend of the marsala sauce with crabmeat, mushrooms, and asparagus. A crisp ahi tuna entrée was also a hit as well as pretty to look at. The lobster ravioli was good with perhaps just a tad too much pesto in the sauce. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. This is a BYO so even though the entrees are slightly on the expensive side, you save money on the drinks side. Sweet Lulas is a restaurant that I think a lot of Yelpers and non-Yelpers will find as a pleasant and pretty delicious surprise. And it's perfect for a pre-theatre meal! read more

My husband ordered chicken picatta and it was also tough and overly salted but he knew it was futile to mention that to the owner, she would only disagree and be nasty. The steak was taken off the check and the waitress told us that it would be taken from her tip pool..imagine that!!! The cherry on top, as I was leaving I told the owner that I hope that steak was worth my yelp review, she said to me, "well next time don't lie, your a liar" Can you imagine that? she actually called a costumer a LIAR!! Visited before a Broadway show on a recent Saturday night. Place is busy-busy with servers running around trying to get all of us out before 8 pm. Problem was that the theater added an earlier matinee which really destroyed any chance of convenient parking. Service was good, had to ask for bread and water, but no problem. Calamari app was absolutely overcooked and tough, let's call it burnt and shriveled up. My pork tenderloin dinner, especially the sauce, was excellent as was my companion's shrimp pasta.
