It seemed off but perhaps it's a Jersey thing. I've been all over in Italy and have never seen this. Olive oil would have been fine along with a splash of balsamic vinegar. Either way I skipped bread condiments. Next came the Fried Tomatoes topped with Lump Crab as an appetizer, but once again I had another head-scratcher, as this dish wasn't typical. First the entire dish lacked seasoning plus salt. Then red tomatoes were used and we all know what happens when you try to fry one. It turns to water after you cut it. The lump crab is what probably made this dish pricey but 3 thinly slices of a red tomato caught me off guard. Now for the final knock out: I ordered the Bone In Pork Chop and impressed that I was asked how Iiked it prepared? I said 145 degrees. She said, you mean well- done. I stated no, that would be in a range of medium. Lo and behold, it was fantastically preparation temperature, but it came topped with the same peppers and onions concoction that came out with the bread. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at the bar, and we were so impressed by how friendly the bartenders were. They were engaging and social. They set off our evening on a high note! My Pink Jaguar cocktail was beautiful and caused quite a buzz among the bar patrons! We opted to sit outside, and we are glad we did. The space is open and breezy but fully covered. No need to worry if a passing shower makes its way overhead. Steamed clams in white wine and Truffle fries for the table to start. Yum! All entrees are accompanied by a house salad or Ceasar salad. Our group ordered the Limone Chicken, Chicken Sfiziosa, Steak Frite, and the Eggplant Meatballs/Risotto. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. We loved everything. I know their linguine is house made, but not certain of the other pasta varietals. Cheesecake and Cannoli for dessert, because why not? Really nice experience! Service was SSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW! From the very beginning until the very end. It took about 15 minutes before our server arrived to greet us, then another 15 for our first round of cocktails to come out, the about a half an hour for us to be told that they were out of 1 of the 3 appetizers we ordered ... so no lie, after being there a full hour we finally received 2 of the 3 appetizers and were then just able to order a second round of cocktails and our main courses. The cocktails weren't the greatest either. We thought perhaps the first round was our fault because we all tried their "blackberry espresso martini" and we knew it was a risk from the beginning ... so we ordered "safer" cocktails for round 2 and the prosecco based cocktails were even worse than the blackberry espresso martinis smh. I truly don't understand how one messes up prosecco + a splash of limoncello and cranberry (that was what was supposed to be in the cocktail) but they certainly messed it up, to the point where I didn't drink it. No real sauce on the plate. No flavor other than the chilis that were placed on top. One of the worst things I've ever been served. When our entrees came out first off, the French fries that we paid extra for were spare. My chicken avocado wrap tasted like nothing. It didn't have much chicken, I didn't notice any of the cheese or avocado ranch that was supposed to be on it. It was full of shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. My BF said his turkey sandwich had no taste either and he wasn't sure it had what it said it should have on it. Very little turkey, undercooked, limp bacon and bread he said that was stale. Walking away we were just shocked. A bad course is one thing but every dish was just abysmal. I couldn't tell you if the tuna was okay because I couldn't even eat it after the other fish almost made me sick at the table. When I made our reservation online, I included a special request asking if we could be seated by a window to enjoy the river and, hopefully, the sunset. They were able to accommodate our request, and we had a beautiful view of the river. It was a little cloudy, so the sunset wasn't spectacular, but the scenery still made for a wonderful evening. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the Fried Fresh Mozzarella Bruschetta, and it was outstanding. The fresh tomatoes, perfectly fried mozzarella, and balsamic reduction came together beautifully. The mozzarella was cooked just right--not overdone to the point where all the cheese oozes out--which made for a great bite every time. Cindy ordered the Scallop Risotto, served in a lemon butter wine sauce. The risotto had a great consistency--not watery at all--and the scallops were perfectly tender. The flavors were fresh, rich, and well-balanced. I chose the Frutti di Mare Risotto, featuring sautéed mussels, clams, jumbo shrimp, crab meat, broccoli rabe, and cherry tomatoes. This dish exceeded my expectations. Every piece of seafood was tender and flavorful. I did encounter a little sand in a couple of the mussels, which can occasionally happen with shellfish, but it certainly wasn't enough to take away from an otherwise fantastic meal. To finish the evening, the staff brought out a celebratory chocolate birthday cake for Cindy. It was incredibly moist with a delicious cream cheese filling--the perfect ending to a memorable birthday dinner. One final tip: if you decide to take a walk around the grounds after dinner, keep an eye out... you might find someone taking a nap outside. This place does not serve exceptional food. It's not a Michelin star stop. Actually, worse than that, screw these people. That's how pissed they made me. My rib eye wasn't even rendered properly with lots of connective tissue and thick hard fat. My kid's salad was drenched in dressing he didn't like despite us ordering it on the side. The $25 shrimp cocktail was literally 4 unseasoned shrimp. The $20 calamari app was half fried pepper rings. Everything was double what it should have cost. Are these morons serious with their prices? I can't believe this horrible place is still in business. It's insulting.
