The place is over priced, very dirty, and it appears they should have more than 2 people working. Walking up to the business the trash can outside, which they may not manage, but needed emptied, was so full trash was all over the ground leading to the business. I was already becoming turned off. Even if they don't manage the outside trash can it's a representation of your business and you should empty it. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it was dirty. I went with other people so we ordered together. I repeated my order at least 3 times and it was still wrong on the receipt, so I politely told the cashier I needed a "Unicorn." We went to sit down at the table, which was dirty with smeared ice cream on it. I looked around and some of the other tables and the counter where you pick up your ice cream had smeared ice cream on them. All of us received our ice cream, except the person that ordered the unicorn. I told the cashier, the one I told the first time, we still haven't received the unicorn. After waiting even longer maybe 30 minutes from the time we arrived and everyone else finishing their ice cream we finally got the unicorn. The ice cream is good, but the portions are too much for people who just want a little bit of ice cream. The toppings are good, but over kill for adults. Pretty good ice cream - I had the pumpkin, my husband got the Cookie Monster and my daughter got the strawberry cheesecake. All were tasty and we definitely enjoyed watching how they rolled the ice cream after making it fresh on the frozen counter. Pretty cool how it worked. First off, this was a great experience. You go in and choose the flavor you'd like. I got one with nutter butter cookies an it was delicious. Next you watch as the ice cream artists mix and chop your ingredients in the cold plate, they slowly become frozen ice cream. When it's finally frozen through, they use what looks like a paint scraper and scrape the ice cream into little rolls and into a bowl. Then a finishing person adds your toppings and hands you the masterpiece. The reasons I gave only 4 stars are because of the wait and lack of seating. From ordering to in my hand, it took 30 minutes to get ice cream, and there was no place to sit while we waited. Overall it was a nice visit, and the price, at $5 pet bowl, is pretty reasonable, as it's more than enough for 2 people to share! read more

Just tried them for the first time. They make the ice cream right in front of you! It's definitely more interesting to watch these "ice cream artists" than those "sandwich artists" up the road. They have many delicious flavors (I chose blue raspberry) on which you can mix in various items (I chose popping strawberry boba). I came to Sweet Monster with a group of coworkers soon after it first opened. We wanted to check it out and see if it was worth the hype. It was fun to see the ice cream get rolled, but the final product was just okay, not great. The servings were also way too large, I would have been happy to pay $1-2 yes for a product 1/2 the size. All of the toppings were also too sweet. For a place inspired by an Asian trend I was expecting different flavors, but this place didn't taste any different than what I would have gotten at a Coldstone Creamery. I was initially excited about trying this new ice cream place. When we arrived, it was chaotic. The lines were a little hectic and there was no intent on fixing the mess, but nevertheless, we were fine waiting to order. I ordered two ice cream roll cups and a small boba tea and the bill was 22 dollars. A little pricey for what it actually is. The ice cream rolls are made with a mixture of heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk and some kind of topping, like cookies or fruit (I've made them before). While waiting, which was about 35 minutes, I felt like I had seen the logo and the name somewhere else before. I shoved this thought behind me thinking it was a case of deja vu. We get our ice cream and it was okay. A little watery for the ice cream, and it bothered me that I ordered a chocolate strawberry roll but it taster like peanut butter, likely from not cleaning, but the toppings were great, the tea was delicious, the boba was not so good. After getting home, the thought clicked to me and realized Sweet monster is ripping off an establishment called Snow Monster in Los Angeles, California. I used to Live in LA and go to Snow Monster a lot and when I pulled up a picture of their logo, it was EXTREMELY similar. I was so upset about this, more than I should have to be honest. What this place dwindles down to is a slightly overpriced ice cream place, that is mediocre at best, and lacks creativity if they have to rip off the ideas of another establishment. I give it two stars because some items they have are good but the concept that they took someone else's idea, tweaked a thing or two, and claim it as their own success, really bothers me. I heard down the grapevine of local ice cream owners that Sweet Monster is actually in a legal battle because of the copyright issues I mentioned. What a fun concept and spin on the traditional presentation of ice cream! Sweet Monster offers not only fun and unique ice cream options, but fresh fruit teas. I love this idea because my kiddos enjoyed their ice cream concoctions while I was able to enjoy a healthier tea option, so we were all happy. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and took the time to explain the menu and options. My kids shared the Cookie Monster in a taco waffle. The ice cream was tasty and fun to watch it being prepared, however the taco waffle was served in a paper french fry container which made it super hard to eat because the vessel was way too small and the waffle taco was a bit stale tasting. Next time we would skip the waffle taco and go with the traditional preparation. There are alot of intriguing flavor combos including one with pretzels, another with candied bacon and smores with toasted marshmallows. Be prepared to wait because the ice cream prep time is a bit slow as it takes some time for it to freeze on the metal prep surface. I can see lines being pretty long during peak times. I chose the kumquat and lemon black tea with mango and chia. I loved it. What I really appreciated is that it was not loaded with ice and so I felt like I actually got more tea than ice, which is typically an issue at alot of places that serve iced teas. We stopped in on a snowy April Monday evening. It wasn't busy but certainly steady. They really don't have a large amount of seating. Maybe 6 four top tables. They were patient while you looked at the menu. Each bowl is pretty large and shareable. We were 4 (2 adults and 2 elementary kids). Each sundae is $5.95. We didn't get milkshakes and they are $5.50. It was fun to watch them make and roll the ice cream. The finishing girl really made them look spectacular. The ice cream is cream and smooth. They move pretty quickly but I can imagine in prime time ice season the wait will seem long. As for the person who said they only take credit cards, it must have been temporary because the two people behind is paid with cash. They only had dairy options. We had the "It's my birthday" and "frozen s'more". They had a latte one that sounded good and a peanut butter with butter butters that was tempting. read more

It is a unique concept and a bit of a show watching the crew mix, freeze and roll the ice cream right in front of you. There are some good standard combos and a list of available mix-ins to allow your imagination to create your special combo. Well worth a trip -- but will it keep me coming back? Two sundaes were $15 with tax. The ice cream mix itself had a lingering aftertaste, more like corn syrup than cream. Our sundaes had little discernible flavor of either Nutella or the peanut butter my wife ordered. The final creations looked wonderful and would post well in a picture, but the overall flavor was a little lacking. Seating was minimal. The ingredients mixed-in contribute to the overall sinfulness as well. In this way (and in terms of cost) Sweet Monster reminds me very much of Cold Stone Creamery. Even the fact that your dessert is made to order in front of the customer on a cold surface reminded me of CSC. That being said, for myself, CSC and now Sweet Monster are just too rich and pricey for my taste. However, let me say what I did enjoy about the experience. The uniqueness of the preparation is such that really should be experienced - do NOT come here and fail to watch them create your order! The process is very different from anything you could/would do at home! They also take the "rolled" ice cream once it is in the dish and complete the presentation with additional toppings to give the customer an impressive looking product. So in short, come here once, enjoy it, and then decide where you'd like to spend your ice cream money and calories! read more
