The staff was extremely friendly and the aroma was to die for I just didn't have time to sit down and eat since were about to close , so I ordered a sweet potato biscuit a slice of key lime and red velvet cake. the biscuit was good but needed something maybe butter , or honey not sure but needless to say it was still good. I have dined here before so I knew the food was good but I wanted to dine there and thankfully I rolled up after the lunch rush and was able to dine outside on their porch in some shade yay for me! I was told they would probably be opening for dine in soon with a limited amount of guest. In the meantime I was able to place my order outside because when you walk up the full menu is right there for you to glance through. I ordered fried green tomatoes, salmon, sweet potato soufflé with pecans and creamed greens, my kids ordered sweet potato shepherds pie, and meatloaf with sweet potato soufflé with pecans. I've eaten here a few times and love the atmosphere. At times it can get crowded and since it's a small space it feels cramped when eating. The menu is nice, but limited. Since it's the Sweet Potato Cafe, I feel like more sweet potato dishes should be served. For instance, the sweet potato waffle is only offered on Saturdays during a specific timeframe. I REALLY want to try it, but never seem to make it the window. There's a sweet potato something in every category but not in big selection. I've had the bean burger, grilled veggie panini and chicken panini all were very tasty. Saturday's there's live music which was amazing. Also there's a small garden next door, I wouldn't be surprised if fresh veggies are picked and used in the menu. Overall, it's a great spot to grab a meal and enjoy Friends. The fries were served with an unusual thick "sweet potato mustard," which had a unique, almost honey mustard taste. My friends enjoyed their salmon dinner and BBQ Mac and cheese, which was large enough to serve 2-3 people. Well, I finally made it to this place! It's a tiny, quirky joint with random odds and ends scattered about like kitschy junkyard finds that an old aunt or grandma would certainly love. Was hoping that this southern vibe place would have a fried chicken plate with veggies, and I was disappointed to be told that it's an after 4pm dish. So, I went with the kids' menu and ordered chicken tenders and fries. My order was to go. The place was busy, so my guest and I waited outside... at a table that was polluted with ants. If it wasn't the ants we were dodging, it was the carpenter bee handling its business on the bright, sunny day. The wait time felt like decades, but the orders were finally ready. But wait... my sweet tea. That was another 10 mins. The food was a resounding no for me. But like I said, the place was busy, so it obviously has fans. My fries were undercooked, and I was given a week's worth of tenders, which I guess would be great for some, but it was too much for me. I'd rather have a week's worth of fries-- properly cooked, that is! The tea that I waited extra for... I spied the guy behind the counter open up a plastic jug and pour my tea in a to-go coffee cup. Southern violation #1: Where's the pitcher of tea? If I see a jug being twisted open, it makes me wonder who made it? Publix? Milo's? Patti LaBelle? Southern violation #2: Never put iced tea in a lil' styrofoam coffee cup with the hot sip lid! Really? C'mon! That was like 4 swallows of tea! I paid how much for that rip?? My friends and I came here after hiking Stone Mountain. We were craving food and this place came up as having a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. It's a cute little shop that looks like a house from the outside. The interior has a series of tables and it's very cute and homey. I started with the sweet potato hummus which was EXCELLENT. Savory, slightly sweet and light and buttery pita chips. I ordered the loaded veggie sweet potato for my entree. The sweet potato itself was great but the broccoli was not cooked well enough. My friend had the chicken panini- she said it was seasoned well but too dense to be on a sandwich. My other friend had the salmon croquettes and corn nuggets and LOVED her food. Enjoyed Sweet Potato today! I enjoyed the Turkey burger with smoked gouda, lettuce and tomato. It was ok. Had to send the burger back to be cooked a little more and the break wasnt my favorite, but the seasoning on the burger was good. I had that with sweet potato fries...of course! Lol My drink was blueberry tea! Never had it, but it was Amazing! My highlight of today was our server, Ms Vita! She greeted us so pleasantly and complimented my Fuschia! I also like that there are rocking chairs on the porch & a dining area outside, which could be enjoyed on a cooler day or in the evening. As for the food, there's an option for all your tastebuds like Chicken, Fried Fish, Sweet Potato casserole, Cabbage, creamed collards, house potatoes, biscuits, Grits, scrambled eggs made to order, & sweet potato pancakes (made with REAL sweet potatoes) made to order. It's so much food that you try to get a taste of everything. The owner is really sweet & is good at engaging the customers in conversation & pictures all while going in the back & cooking the vittles. I also liked the fact that it's run by the family so at any given time you would se her husband & son serving, as well. The other servers are friendly & engaging, as well, adding to that southern hospitality feel! The only downsides to this restaurant are that you can see the inventory in the space across from He kitchen & there are some other things on the porch that are not related to dining. A storage unit or d fashioned buffet set would be good to hide those items. I order a coffee ( pretty good coffee) black bean burgers with sweat potatoes fries ( the best sweet potato fries I have ever tasted -not exaggerating) . The meal was well cooked and seasoned and fresh..quality takes time to prepare and I was served just that...quality. My son ordered the smoked Gouda burger and he absolutely loved it...I was not eating meat but I couldn't resist trying his burger and it was soooo worth the cheat. They have outdoor seating, enough seating for 35 or more. Alcohol selection was nice also. I've had breakfast/brunch here a few times in the last few years and it has been a hit or miss. I like the quaint feel, overall the food is good. The one feedback for improvement would be the grits.
