It amazes me when I haven't left a review for a place that I've been to many times and is something I really like. I probably just assumed that I had already done it. Well, now I am :) Sweet republic is an amazing ice cream shop in the valley. With multiple locations and rotating ice cream flavors with new seasonal options, It's pretty fun to come here. The ice cream tastes great and the staff are friendly. I come here typically on a bike ride as I live not too far from this Tempe Town Lake location. I know I don't need a "treat" to ride my bike since riding when the weather is nice really is a treat itself, but this also doesn't hurt ;) If you go enough, be sure to sign up for the rewards so that when you get scoops or other items, you can get some points for toppings or free cones. This location is located in the Watermark shopping area, adjacent to Tempe Town Lake, and right outside the ice cream shop there are water fountains and seating areas and when the weather is nice it's really beautiful to sit out here and eat ice cream. There's a small 4 spot parking lot directly in front of it, but if you need more there's also garage and street spots in Watermark. I usually get a different flavor every time I come and have to sample 2 to 3 options see which one I like best. This time I had their seasonal flavor-- blueberry lemon custard pie, and it was absolutely delicious. Of course I'll definitely be back on another night, or day, bike ride, so here's my overdue review.

They have some flavors I would never think of trying but if you are adventurous then be my guest. They don't have any seating inside but there is plenty of seating outside. For customer's there is a restroom too...very important! Enjoy!

( This is the third of five reviews I've prepared for describing some of the food I ate while I was out in Phoenix, Arizona. ) When it's hot out, it's the perfect time to get ice cream. In-between work, I explored outside just to take in the sights -- on the one hand, it's a great way to experience a new location for yourself! On the other hand, though, it was in the high 90s to low 100s when I was out there; probably not a good idea to be outside for a long time when it's that hot out. Thankfully, as I was in the Tempe Town Lake area, it didn't take me long to find Sweet Republic! A small, locally-owned ice cream shop with three locations in Phoenix and Tempe, they're well-known for using locally sourced ingredients and having some of the wildest and most interesting flavor combinations I've seen. This isn't your grandma's old-time ice cream shop, that's for sure. Between the heat, and the fact that we didn't grab dessert from Mi Amigo Ricardo earlier in the day ( see my review on that place for details ), it was inevitable that I'd be lured in to try what they had to offer. As I was saving my appetite for later that day, I opted to get two scoops. Not only was the ice cream refreshing, the combinations were unlike anything I'd tried. I got their blue moon and blueberry honey basil flavors, which presented a very intersting, complex mix of sweet, a little bit of savory, and even some floral flavorings. Of the two, I think I liked their blueberry honey basil the most, because the combo of blueberry and basil was surprisingly very good and something I hadn't tasted anywhere else. The blue moon was also good, but I will admit that the combination of blue spirulina and lemon made it taste a bit too medicinal for my liking. Those kinds of unique ice cream flavors are the kind that I wish we had out here in Vegas, honestly; our most well-known spots tend to be a bit heavy on the classic flavors like vanilla and chocolate. Certainly, if we had more places like Sweet Republic in town, I'd be more willing to brave the summer heat to get ice cream! For now, though, all I can do is think about when I plan to come back to Phoenix next time -- until then, please come out here and try Sweet Republic! I guarantee you'll like it.
I learned about Sweet Republic last week and just had to bring my mother to try their delicious ice cream over the weekend. This location caught my attention because they have a sliding window to take your order so you could stand outside if you have a pup with you! I love that idea and totally plan on returning with my dog when it's a bit cooler out. As for our visit, I ordered a two scoop sundae, with buttermilk strawberry and almond buttercrunch ice cream. For my toppings, I did the toffee and hot fudge. The toffee is a must try and I believe it is made in house. My mother had a two scoop waffle cone with almond buttercrunch and rocky road ice cream. She was really pleased with her selections as well. One thing worth mentioning is that parking initially seemed quite scarce near this spot, but there is a parking structure nearby and the friendly employee at Sweet Republic validated our parking so we didn't even have to pay to park!
Our experience with Sweet Republic has never changed; the quality of their ice cream and their service is always top notch! The weather in Arizona is dropping, which means that it's perfect ice cream weather! If you have never been to this location, you will find it near Tempe Town Lake, by the water fountains and palm trees. The parking is located inside the garage, but four parking spots are available in front of the shop if you are lucky!! I recommend signing up for emails and following their instagram for all flavor updates. They also sell pints of some of their flavors. This is a wonderful location with a beautiful view especially at sunset and night.
I love ice cream and this place did not disappoint. Their scoops ofice cream was a good size. I should have just ordered 1 flavor. I got the Almond Buttercrunch Ice Cream and Strawberry Buttermilk Ice Cream, these flavors were so good that I craved it after I got back home. The place was small, there were no indoor seating. The workers were kinda friendly. At least they were not rude or too nice, kinda cold but professional.
Sweet Republic really is some of the best ice cream you can find in AZ. Don't believe me? Then believe all of the awards that they continue to rack up. We finally made it to the Tempe location. There's limited parking is available, but we lucked out and found a spot during our visit. The shop is pretty tiny inside, so definitely recommend grabbing your scoops to go. If the weather's nice, take a stroll along Tempe Town Lake with your treat. The staff was super chill and didn't rush us, even though we couldn't decide (everything looked so good!). We finally settled on scoops of their always flavors - Salted Caramel Swirl and Brown Butter Pecan and seasonal summer flavors - Sweet Berry Cobbler and Peaches & Cream. So worth it! The flavors are top-notch and you can really taste the quality. If you're in Tempe and craving something sweet, you've gotta hit up this Sweet Republic location. And seriously, don't miss out on trying some of the fantastic seasonal flavors or their specialty sundaes!

My friend and I each tried a few of the flavors, the ice cream wasn't as creamy as we'd like and we were a little disgusted by all of the gnats flying around in the store. At night, you can see a whole swarm of them on the walls, not sure if they can help that but didn't leave a great impression. The almond toffee brittle was the best thing here. The dark chocolate sorbet is a good choice for a non dairy alternative.

Yes, it's as amazing as everyone says. Sweet Republic offers a great assortment of classic ice cream flavors, along with unusual, interesting flavors. The sundaes are amazing. The ice cream is not overly sweet with great creamy texture. This location is pretty small so I always sit outside, where there is lots of seating, some trees, and a soothing water feature, as well as lovely views of Tempe Town Lake. I think the pricing is pretty darn reasonable, about $8 for two big scoops on a fresh made waffle cone. read more

Stopped by for ice cream on a sunny day and it really hit the spot. I tried the dairy-free peach flavor and it was super refreshing without being overly sweet. The shop itself is small but clean, and there was no line when we went. One of the best parts of this location is the lake nearby, you can walk around or sit and enjoy your ice cream outside. Parking is pretty limited, so we got lucky finding a spot right in front. read more

The perfect post-run treat with friends! Stopped by this cute little place to reward ourselves and tried their seasonal Mango Rice Ice Cream topped with a toasted marshmallow. I don't get a lot of ice cream but after a long walk at night we were looking for something sweet and this place hit the spot. They have some flavors I would never think of trying but if you are adventurous then be my guest. They don't have any seating inside but there is plenty of seating outside. The banana ice cream is bussing and I really dont care for bananas but that hit the spot. Paired it with the blue moon which tasted like fruity peebles icecream. Man oh man! The waffled cone tho wasnt the best I have had but it did the trick. read more

Sweet Republic is my favorite place in Phoenix for dairy-free treats! I love sweet republic! The ice cream tasted great and is so smooth! There are no ice crystals in the ice cream. The employees are nice and helpful. I like how they are patient with my questions. The mint tasted like it was freshly made with a real mint plant rather than with mint extract. The flavor is light and refreshing. The ice cream is neither runny or too frozen. The store is small and quiet. Now that I know where it is located, it is much easier for me to find and go to more frequently. I am glad they have a Tempe location. I hope that they open more locations in the South and East valley. I wish that they had peach cobbler with sweet cream all year around, but I was told that they made the ice cream with in season ingredients. I also think it would be great if they made brownies with sweet cream instead of brownie with vanilla. Otherwise, I highly recommend this ice cream shop and it will be at the top of my list when I am in the mood for getting ice cream with my friends and family. They have great parking spaces right out front, but even more in a nearby parking garage. I also love that they have a parking garage that's free to use in the same plaza because then when I go back to my car I don't boil up alive. read more
Stopped in on Sunday. This place was a little hard to find. Tried the banana toffee pudding in a waffle cone. Very strong banana flavor but the cone was a bit off, maybe slight stale. I had the sweet berry cobbler. Excellent ice cream and flavor. The cobbler pieces were nice but did give the overall ice cream a bit of grainy feel. read more

Wow! I work in the offices near by so catch myself coming here once a week. From the customer service, to the ice cream itself, it's to die for! Every employee I've had has been nothing but nice and helpful. Always have the best recommendations. Ambiance is very laid back. Pricier on the ice cream side but worth it in my opinion! Very rich & creamy and many unique flavors to choose from. Last week I came to get this flavor in a small and came back this week for the pint lol. Definitely recommend read more

A good place for a quick stop to relieve your sweet tooth! It's a small hidden spot, we honestly had a bit of trouble finding it, the whole area itself is a bit confusing. We didn't realize there was parking right in front but once we found it, it was easy to get to. The staff is friendly and greeted us. I ended up getting a scoop of the brownie fudge swirl and it was really good! Super creamy and not too sweet. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area. read more
Hmmm a republic of sweets? That would be one the best democracies ever, especially around Halloween time! Anyways, I love the ice cream from Sweet Republic. It's consistently smooth + rich and I appreciate that they are always thinking of unique flavors for the shop. Coming back home from an outdoor outing, ice cream sounded like a wonderful sweet treat since it had been a bit warm towards the end of our travels. I had some of the blue moon ice cream. I would never think to put spirulina in ice cream and I was intrigued by this mix of spirulina, with lemon, raspberry and vanilla flavors in a custard base. To be honest, I wasn't that big of a fan of this flavor. I was hoping to taste more of the lemon and raspberry but I should have known it would be just a trace amount of it since the description said a "hint" of those flavors. For me it had a weird background flavor that was a bit hard to place, maybe it was due to the spirulina? Although I didn't enjoy it the toddler had no problem polishing it off for me! Other flavors I've had from here have been good though, especially their pineapple whip. Oh so good! read more

This little spot is BEAUTIFUL. They have sorbet for those avoiding dairy and the Blue Moon flavor is Fruity Pebbles ( in my humble opinion). I loved it. They have a tomato Basil sorbet that reminds me of a National chain's tomato basil bread with the cinnamon crust. The host was pleasant and showed us the differences in the flavors. You can take a pint to go and there's some seating outside. It's a beautiful experience. The seating is limited inside but the trip is worth it. read more
I'm not really sure what we were doing to end up in Tempe, but we stumbled upon Sweet Republic and are glad we did. Parking is not the greatest but we lucked out and found a spot as someone was leaving. We then ordered a scoop each of ice cream and walked along the canal and hung out in the sun. The service was great, the staff was extremely helpful and the ice cream was very creamy and delicious. They have multiple locations across the metro area, so pick whichever is closest to you and check them out. read more
Pro-tip: They offer samples. Yelp check-in for a small discount. There's limited parking right in front of Sweet Republic, but there's a free parking structure that's pretty close by too. There isn't indoor seating, so be prepared to eat it outside. Highlights: They have really unique flavors and the texture of their ice cream is really creamy and delicious. Lowlights: Lately the flavors I've sampled have all been overly sweet for my taste and it's one of the pricey places nowadays considering the size of scoop you get. read more

We always have to make a stop here whenever we are back in town because I live for the real mint chip ice cream. I have never in my life ever liked mint chip ice cream, but holy cow, Sweet Republic's real mint chip ice cream is one of the few ice creams I actually crave and dream about. The real mint is soooo refreshing unlike the toothpaste-y taste of regular mint chip ice cream. My boyfriend's mom had the gingerbread this time around and she LOVED it. She said she never loves ice cream, but this was the first ice cream she LOVED. The rest of the family loves it every time we come and like to try new flavors. My boyfriend's favorite is also the real mint but he loves to try the new seasonal flavors and is never disappointed. We also saw they have black sesame by the pint, so we'll have to try that next time - although it's going to be really hard to not get the real mint chip! The service is great and fast too - they're always super friendly and let us try samples of new flavors! read more
The only negative I have to say about this place is that it's hard to find. But once you find it, it's all good. I was lucky and there were only a few people ahead of us in line. It gave me just enough time to assess the flavor options. My husband opted for a single scoop of Belgian chocolate in a waffle cone and I got my 2 scoops in a waffle cone as well. His chocolate was rich and smooth. My salted butter caramel was very good as well. I would have liked more caramel in it but I love toppings and fillings. I sampled the blue moon and I think that will be my go to next time. The waffle cones were just right for me. They held up but didn't crack under pressure. It crumbled nicely when I bit into it. My husband said it wasn't crunchy enough. The young ladies working were friendly and attentive. read more

This local joint has a cool feature where you can have a freshly roasted and toasted marshmallow on top of your ice cream. The flavors are lighter tasting yet unique. I opted for the carrot cake and I got to try the horchata too. There were so many great flavors to choose from including black earl grey tea and oatmeal cookie and even a black sesame seed flavor. The pricing is a bit high for the scoop and i wish there were half scoops to get a couple flavors in one cup for those of us watching our figures yet love variety :) I'll definitely be back for more.
