This locally owned tiny but amazing gelato spot offers so many good, creamy but light-in-sweetness Asian-inspired flavors. They change their flavors all the time, so make sure to follow them on Instagram to get updates on the newest flavors. And don't forget to try the gelato samples before making a decision! The inside is pretty small and probably fits about 5 people while ordering. There is no indoor seating, but there are 2 tables and about 4 chairs outside of the shop for a quick after-meal treat. Service is usually fast.
I was craving a cold dessert and decided to stop by and check our their flavors. We were able to sample 3 flavors each and I loveed their durian and lychee. I'm a huge fan of durian and lychee and they blew this out the waters. It was soo good! So refreshing. I think they have improved their texture a lot too. It's a more buttery firm texture and doesn't melt to liquid as fast as before. I will be frequenting here during these hot months in AZ. So excited how they always rotate their flavors, so there's always great flavors to try.
This tiny gelato shop in Tempe serves up big flavors! We had a little bit of a hard time finding it since it is located in a little suite but there was ample parking on a weekend. No seating available inside due to space but some cute seating outside on a mini patio! I was amazed at the amount and variety of flavors they had (especially the Asian-inspired flavors). Staff were kind and provided good recommendations. I tried a sample of the white chocolate Sakura gelato but the matcha gelato eventually won over my heart. My boyfriend got the rose rugosa, which was sweet and had a floral taste, if you're into that! We will be back to try the other flavors. Of note, we didn't realize that we could put two flavors into one small cup, so we each got one small cup with our preferred flavors. Had we known, we definitely would have shared one small cup w/ two flavors, as the staff definitely put a decent portion of gelato into each cup that made it difficult for us to finish on our own (even though it was scrumptious)!
Love this tiny spot of sweets. The flavors all sounds so good here. Sampled some great flavors, we got ube & chocolate +orange; the cruffle adds a nice crunch. There's not much seating so you might need to get extra napkins and eat in the car :)

Highly recommend the Pandan, it was my favorite! I also got the Matcha and Pistachio. If you get a big cup, you can get three flavors in one. You can tell their gelatos are made with high quality ingredients. They weren't overly sweet too. I highly recommend and can't wait to get some the next time I'm in town.
Jelato88 is a small local gelato shop that has a wide selection of flavors, including Asian flavors. Service is great and the owner is friendly! I've tried the pandan, persimmon, and dahongpao - I definitely focused on trying the Asian flavors, especially since they were more unique. The persimmon was more of a mild flavor, and it reminded me more of sweet potato rather than persimmon. The pandan and dahongpao were so lovely - they were my favorite. Dahongpao is a type of oolong tea and the gelato tasted like a rich milk tea - SO good! I would say the price is on par with specialty ice cream/gelato spots. You can get your gelato in a cup with a waffle cone chip or in a waffle cone. The shop itself is small but there's some seating outside. The flavors rotate every 1-2 weeks, so get your favorites while you can!
Stumbled upon this searching for desserts and wasn't sure what we'd find. The ladies were kind, patient while we made or decision, and helpful when picking flavors. My favorite was the ube. I'll definitely be back!
I got durian, Pandan, and coconut cloud. The flavors taste as advertised and are good. Unfortunately, the consistency is more melted than creamy before you even step outside into the brutal heat. This place has a lot of potential if they can improve the creaminess and thickness of the gelato. Otherwise, there are other places to get Asian ice cream flavors, even in the supermarkets. Service was good. It's a very cramped spot with hardly space to stand in. Not fun to wait outside if it's peak hours and super hot.
Loved this spot. The flavors are unique and feature a lot of incredible asian flavors like jasmine tea, pandan, and Vietnamese coffee when I went. I was informed the flavors change weekly so theres always something new to try. The shop is smaller on the inside, so its not necessarily a sit down spot, but the gelato was so delicious and creamy I will be back to try more flavors. The service was quick and friendly.
Totally loved this place! When my friends and I arrived, there was no one in line but after a few minutes the line behind us grew to about 10 or so people. The inside is very very small. We were a group of four and we barely all fit to order. The employee quickly came out to greet us and give us the 411 on the different flavors. She also offered and gave us samples of any flavors we wanted to try. We ordered: One pistachio One Biscoff One Ube / pistachio One pandan / strawberry The gelato was delicious! All flavors were unique and had a yummy creamy consistency. We sat outside at one of the two tables that was available until we finished. The decor / art is very fun and inviting, I will be back!
It's such a cute little shop! It's small, but the flavors that they make in shop pack are booming on the palette. You do not have to wonder if you'll taste the flavors. They are definitely there. They even let you have tastes. I tried the persimmon flavor and you can taste the sweet fruit flavor in there. Same when I tried the dark chocolate, which had flakes of chocolate in the gelato. And the pistachio was the BEST pistachio ice cream I've ever had! The lady there was so nice and also told me that they have new flavors coming in and out of the shop every month. I'm excited to see what they have the next time I go.
Such a cute tiny hidden gem! We happened to stumble across Jelato while on that side of town looking for dessert and glad wr stopped in! The gelato is so fresh and light! The Asian inspired flavors are so unique! Bummed the blood orange was sold out but a reason to try it next time! Definitely recommend visiting to keep cool this summer!

Love all the flavors they have especially lots of Asian flavors. First time here and it will not be our last! It's a small shop with space for only a few people to order and then tables available outside. The pandan and Vietnamese coffee were really good! Service was great! You get to sample different flavors before you choose. Can't wait to come back to try out other flavors! read more

It's such a cute little shop! It's small, but the flavors that they make in shop pack are booming on the palette. You do not have to wonder if you'll taste the flavors. They are definitely there. Definitely did not disappoint! This is such a cute shop! You're greeted warmly, and they offer a great range of flavors. My personal favorites are ube, black sesame, and matcha. The flavors are spot on, incredibly fresh, and absolutely delicious You won't regret stopping by they also have special flavors that rotate, which keeps things exciting and fresh! The ladies are super friendly and welcoming, and they really make you feel comfortable. They're the type to encourage you to get that third flavor because it's that good and you deserve it! I love this place and will definitely be back to try more flavors! read more
Pro-tip: You can Zelle to save money on the fee. They let you sample here! Highlights: I'm an avid ice cream/gelato/soft serve eater and nothing excites me more than great Asian flavors that you can usually only find in Asia or big metropolitan cities. I loved their variety and from the ones we sampled/bought, I thought they tasted great and I liked the texture. My favorite is by far the white peach oolong. The service is also really good, they are so patient and offer samples. And lastly, it's one of the best utensils I've gotten for ice cream. Lowlights: It's definitely a little pricier. They don't have a ton of seating, which I imagine will make it tricky during summertime. read more

Sooooo good! We were not expecting to love this place so much. The owners are so kind, and they give great customer service. You get three samples which is plenty. You can tell they're so excited about their work which shines through in their gelato. The flavors are very interesting, you won't find them at a typical gelato shop. I got the orange chocolate with chocolate and my husband for the sakura white chocolate with dulce de leche and it was incredible. read more
Small place with many delicious gelatos. This place smells like freshly made waffle cone. We love every flavor we tried. I like that they have real strong tea gelato and many different types of tea to choose. They are addictive but we could be awake all day long. The pandan and ube are creamy and lightly sweet. I am disappointed in myself that it took me this long to try this gelato spot when I live literally five minutes away from this hidden gem (literally, it is tucked away in a tiny plaza). It is dangerous for me and my wallet now that I have access to this little sweet treat so close to my apartment. Walking in, we were greeted with warm and bright yellow colors with the cutest art on the walls. The shop is filled with personality which I love! The owner is so sweet and she explained to us the rotating range of flavors which are handcrafted in house everyday. We sampled almost all of the flavors and we loved them so much, my boyfriend and I decided to do one small cup and one large cup so we could have a little bit of each one. We each got a scoop of the white peach oolong (we loved this one), along with a scoop of black sesame (best black sesame ice cream I've tried), pandan (the flavor is STRONG), and salted egg (incredible and unique). We were also able to sample the jujube & ginseng which was so interesting but the flavor was SPOT ON - it brought back childhood memories. I never thought such a place would exist in Arizona and I am rooting for her success! I will definitely be frequenting this spot and already planning my next visit to try all the new flavors. What a cute shop and the gelato is fantastic! The signage promising unusual gelato caught my attention and I had to check it out. I'm so glad I did! The store is tiny with a couple of tables out front and filled with really fun art on the walls. Owner Jessie was running it and told me she makes all the gelato and the recipes, and the art. She was really nice and obviously passionate about what she does. I tried the black sesame and pandan flavors and ended up getting those along with ube. So delicious! Asian gelato. Everything's incredibly delicious and made in house including the waffles. The flavors are regularly rotated out so if they run out, it's onto the next! It's a small space rented out in one of those salon suites, so it's mainly take out unless one of the two patio sets outdoors is open. The owner is very sweet and patient with samples. I love anything tea flavor and they don't disappoint! read more

Jelato88 is a cute gelato shop featuring a lot of Asian flavors. Not enough space to eat your ice cream inside, but there are a few tables right outside. Really nice owner; you can sample up to three flavors before ordering. The Dubai chocolate flavor had an unappealing gummy texture, making the crunchy bits stuck to my teeth. However, the "chocolate" part of this flavor really saved the whole experience. Super creamy and a really nice flavor. read more

A new hidden gem in Tempe Gelateria that serves atypical flavors. Mostly Asian flavors but can easily please a crowd. It's located in a corner of a plaza but inside is colorful, gives off a mad scientist vibe. Lol. You get to try 3 flavors each. The flavors do rotate every week per the sweet lady that helped us but I loved the selection of tea flavors as well as conventional flavors. For example, I had the Phoenix (oolong with lemon) and Earl Gray. Both are tea based but so unique and delicious. The cost is similar to other gelato spots. Now also on my list of must come back and recommended spots. I look forward to it! read more
Why did I not come here sooner?! The shop is very tiny but you're allowed 3 samples. The service is very friendly and most importantly, the flavors are so delicious. I ended up getting pandan and orange blood sorbet. The flavors are so unique, not too sweet and just hits right. I can't wait to come back and try other flavors! read more

Super cute gelato spot that has Asian inspired flavors! The store is very small and has no seating indoors, but there are a few tables outside. They make the gelato in house, you can actually see it churning. I love that they offer samples and we were able to try out some before ordering. The gelato has a great texture and good sweetness. This is one of the best gelatos I've had in Phoenix. I loved the asian flavors, they let you try three samples. I got Phoenix which was a citrusy oolong tea flavor and it was SO yummm. The tea flavor was strong and the gelato wasn't too sweet. My sister got the dubai chocolate. She said it was more chocolatey than pistachio but was still really good. Only downside is there's no indoor room or seating which is kind of tough if you want to enjoy it in the summer in Phoenix. We ended up eating it in our car which was pretty hot, but at least the ice cream helped to cool us off. read more
Gelato Fact: The first gelateria was opened in Paris. Francesco Procopio dei Coltelli, a Sicilian fisherman, built the first gelateria in Paris in 1686. He called it Café Procope and sold gelato and coffee to Voltaire and Rousseau, among others. The cafe is still open today, so pay it a visit when you're in Paris! I was talking to the lovely owner, Jessie, on Instagram and decided I need to pop in. She's so friendly and sweet and you can tell she has a genuine love for her product. A gelato shop with Asian flavors? YES PLEASE! This is a super cozy spot so grab your cup of gelato and head on outside to enjoy. They make all their flavors in house with a rotating weekly special. On my first visit, I got a small cup of half jasmine and half rose. It was a delicious cool treat. I also tried the pineapple and the oolong, which were also quite tasty. Everything was creamy, flavorful, and not too sweet. It's everything you want in a cup of gelato. Five-stars! What a great local gelato shop. Wishing Jelato88 much success! read more

Amazing new gelato shop with Asian-inspired flavors! They change the flavors every Friday. All their tea-based flavors are excellent and strong. We tried Pu'er (my favorite), Rose Rushan (floral and creamy), matcha (you can tell they use premium matcha), and iced tea. It was really hard to choose because they were all so good. They also have sorbet flavors like lychee. You can choose up to 2 flavors in a small cup, or up to 3 flavors in a big cup. The owner was super sweet and was happy to let us sample different flavors. Just a heads up--the shop itself is small, and there's no seating inside. read more
A wonderful new gelato shop with natural ingredients, premium flavors, and (dare I say) the coolest gelato spoons I've seen yet! Jelato88 offers a handful of frequently rotating flavors, including a stunning collection of Asian tea gelatos. We were lucky to score the last bit of the Tie Guan Yin special for the night--which is a smooth oolong with a slightly bitter taste at the end--as well as the floral Jasmine (my favorite!). Both were strong and taste exactly like top-quality teas. The Real Coco is a great classic chocolate gelato that's perfectly rich. The shop is small, so they definitely sell out--the interesting lychee and beer flavors were gone by 7pm Friday--and there's no seating. However, the owner is so incredibly knowledgeable and kind, providing samples, through explanations, and great conversation. Fantastic service. I highly recommend and will return! (Please keep in mind Jelato88 is closed Thursday and Zelle/cash are the preferred payment methods.) read more

So good! The store is very tiny, but she offered everyone samples of any flavor to try. It's homemade and churning right there in front of you. The perfect treat after a Cubs Spring training game! The server was so sweet and wonderful. read more
