My friend and I stopped by this sweet little spot after work since it's so close by. The shop itself is pretty small, but they had a wide selection of ice cream flavors to choose from. The staff was very friendly and even offered us free samples, which helped us decide. One thing I appreciated was their attention to quality. One of the flavors I tried was a bit melted, and they immediately removed the bin and let me know it was no longer available for sale. I thought that was a great move and showed they really care about serving the best quality ice cream. I ended up getting the cherry vanilla and butterscotch, and both were delicious. One thing that really stood out was the portion size. They give huge scoops even for a single serving, which honestly surprised me. I definitely enjoyed every bite. The only downside is the seating situation. There aren't any chairs inside, and while there are a few chairs and a bench outside, there's no shade. I'm running out of reasons to support this business...I've been noticing rudeness from the staff here and as much as I've loved Sweet Retreat going back 2 decades, the business has changed for the worse. Today (Tues, Aug 4 around 8:30pm) my mom and I had an unfortunate experience. We both ordered chocolate yogurts with almond toppings. When they were ready, the cashier (Bella) told her one was mocha and the other chocolate. My mom corrected her, stating that we both ordered yogurts with chocolate powder and almonds. Well, Bella not only disagreed, but she said "I don't know what's wrong with you." This was in front of other customers. Wow, just wow. Bella argued with my mom and wouldn't remake the yogurt, which is upsetting because businesses should honor the customer's wishes, especially for a $12 cup of frozen yogurt. This experience is really upsetting and is the straw that broke the camel's back. To be fair, the other young woman was nice. But poor customer service is unacceptable and we will find a different business to support. It was our first time here tonight. We've driven by here plenty of times, and we know they've been here for years. We walked in and it was crowded. But people were just chatting inside, and just needed to take it outside, which they finally did. Then it didn't feel so cramped! Lol The menu was quite extensive and took us a good bit to look it over. Everything looked delicious! But once the staff started scooping the ice cream, wow... they weren't stingy at all! How have I drove by this ice cream shop for years and never came in I saw an instagram reel that you can mix fruit into your own yogurt and knew I had to come try it. I'm a tart plain yogurt kinda gal and just their base was so good already. They have frozen fruits like peach, mango, strawberry, and berries. Each fruit is $1.8 extra. I found what appears to be plastic shavings mixed throughout my frozen yogurt. After pulling strands out and examining them, I believe they're coming from the plastic cone used in their mixing machine. The drill mechanism seems to be shaving plastic directly into the froyo as it mixes. If you use this place, check your cup carefully before eating. I got a chocolate milkshake, the small size was plenty, and FYI they only offer whole milk as an option here. Hm... so... we went here after lunch... i was kind of hesitant, as some of the reviews were so over-the-top bad, I thought of it as an adventure... when we got there, there was the sole employee working (which was as per the bad reviews), and a group of 4 ppl who had entered before us. Notice anything missing? Medium??? Clearly a marketing ploy... you don't want to end up with too little ice cream - then you'd rather ask yourself: how big can large be? So we ordered two large yoghurts... which turned out to be, like 3/4 quart-size buckets full of yoghurt. Too much! Lesson learned. Will try small next time. Also, large obviously didn't come cheap. Why not give a clear scale. I also don't think they had containers visible which would have given an idea of the sizes? A completely unneccessary aggravation. But still 4 stars. Because the taste was simply very good. For making fruity yoghurt, they use (frozen) fruits and then put them through the wringer. Almond had almond pieces. The result is a very nice creamy consistency and a very fresh taste, and not too sweet (although that's relative, of course). Yes, the store could look cleaner or more shiny, and modern, and better organized (take any jamba juice as an example) - but it's not at all as bad as claimed in some reviews. We asked for whip cream on it and this is how the whip cream came.... The girl gave us MELTED WHIP CREAM... I took this photo not even 1 minute after getting my order. When I went back in and asked for them to give me whip cream that is not melted the girl said "we only have melted whip cream right now" and didn't even offer to make a new one without the MELTED WHIP CREAM. Came to Sweet Retreat around 8:00pm to get yogurt with family. We waited a long time and when our order gets taken the employee scoops the ingredients into the cups and leaves them by the yogurt machine and starts helping the people behind us. After 10-15 minutes of waiting again she starts making our yogurt. I asked the young lady with brown hair and a pony tail to use the yogurt that wasn't melted, she said it's the same as the rest. While she was making my other yogurts the first yogurt was melting. I asked her to kindly remake it. She throws the yogurt aggressively at the trash can. We understand how frustrating it can be to be understaffed which is why we tipped extra. She ended up remaking my yogurt but only with one scoop of tart yogurt (see my picture attached versus previous reviews posted). We paid $50 before tip just to be treated so poorly. My family and I will not be coming back and our friends will also not be coming back after hearing about our bad experience. I really hope they hire more people, the frustration from the employee might be misdirected at customers for being understaffed. read more
