I am a big fan of Sweet Revenge. A Big Fan. One of my favorite dishes is chicken pot pie. Unfortunately, it's not something that is readily available in Hawaii. And in my opinion, a pot pie has crust on the bottom and top....it's not a bowl of soup with dough thrown on top! Pot pies take a lot of time....it's basically double the work. The inside takes time to make and then you still have to bake the outside. You are a cook and a baker at the same time! The chicken pot pie from Sweet Revenge is the best I have had on the island. Delicious, satisfying and filling. The inside is hearty...full of meat and vegetables. The crust is flaky and tender. It might be the perfect meal! I have been able to try many different kinds of pot pies from Sweet Revenge, both savory and sweet, and they are always amazing. Recently, I was able to try their new creation, Love's Donettes pie. With the recent news that Love's may discontinue their beloved Donettes, Sweet Revenge decided to make a dessert out of them. They boiled down Donettes and made a sweet pie out of it! Topped with strawberries and whipped cream it was so amazing! This is why Sweet Revenge deserves 5 stars. Delicious food is half the battle. For the past two Sundays, Ms S stopped by the Sweet Revenge stand at the Windward Mall Farmer's Market for pie time. The savory pies are the perfect size for a full meal - my fave was the Pastele Pie which is a great pastele stew in crust. And though I don't have a sweet tooth, the Chocolate PB Mochi Pie combined 2 of my fave flavors, chocolate and PB with contrasting textures - soft mochi, crunchy brittle, creamy filling (adding bananas would have made it 6 stars) while Ms S loved the Yelp Pie (the 5 strawberries form the Yelp logo), the pear and strawberry crumble and the local Key lime pie version Lilimansi which also featured lilikoi. This review is specific toward the windward mall farmers market location. When I saw them at my local farmers market I decided to try them due to my daughters' loving pie. We tried the pink velvet and dark side. First, service was awkward and unwelcoming. Almost like we were in the way. I asked simple questions such as "what flavor is this" and was answered with annoyance. There were name tags, but the pies weren't placed exactly to correlate with a name tag. Especially for a new customer, how the heck am I supposed to know what a "dark side" pie looks like?? Next, she began talking to another customer while helping me! She just started chatting away and giving her free samples. Meanwhile my daughters and I waited for her to complete my order. We waited a good amount of time, enough time until the atmosphere got really awkward and that second customer stepped aside. Clearly the owner had no interest in completing my order. Last, she didn't take my card payment for 1 pie. Not a big deal, EXCEPT the customer in front of me literally bought 1 pie with a card payment. I literally saw her. We were waiting right behind her. When I was told to use Venmo instead, I opted to just buy another pie. We hadn't tried a savory pie, and as I mentioned, my daughters' both love pie. Overall, I gave 2 stars, 1 for each pie. But customer service is a big deal to me! I always prioritize local businesses, but having this awkward rude service made me not want to buy from them again. Ordered the black bottom banana (fresh sliced apple bananas over a drift of bittersweet chocolate ganache in a butter crust, finished with local whipped cream & more homemade chocolate ganache), pumpkin crunch (local Aloun Farms pumpkin mousse in a butter crust; topped with yummy walnut-pecan crunch topping, and finished with local whipped cream), lilimansi (their version of a key lime pie with fresh local calamansi lime & lilikoi baked in a graham cracker crust, finished with local whipped cream), and the blueberry and strawberry vanilla bean custard pie. Ambiance: We parked next to their "pie" truck and went thru the back where the kitchen was located. Not sure if there was a "front entrance". I don't think they normally sell pies from their kitchen. As the location was where they bake all their pies, it was a 100% take out place. There is no place to sit and enjoy your pies. Other than the kitchen, there is no décor so to speak. The ladies were in the middle of baking and creating their pies when we walked in. Easy ordering via email. Ordered a mochi bento with assorted flavors. I enjoyed the strawberry chocolate mochi but would have liked the chocolate to be less runny as it was messy to eat towards the end. My son and I enjoyed the red velvet mochi. It was paired with some cream cheese. That was divine. Also enjoyed the chantilly mochi. I gave the other flavors to my mother-in-law so i cant review them. Also picked up a chocolate pie and the donette pie. The chocolate pie had a great chocolate flavor. The donette pie had my sons fighting over the donette on the pie. We tried delivery today given that they are no longer located at the Medical School in Kakaako. The pies arrived just before noon with the savory pies (chicken and beef pot pies) at a good temperature for eating right away. The sweet pies (Milky Way and Lilikoi Crunch) were cool and also at the right temperature for immediate consumption. The savory pies had generous amounts of filling, including meat. Not like some from other places where you get a ton of crust and little inside. The size is deceptive; unless you have a really big appetite, you will likely get full. I tried the Milky Way pie and enjoyed it, but would have liked more caramel. It kinda got lost. There was real whipped cream on top, too, not out of a can. For delivery, which is on Wednesdays only, your order must total at least $45 and you must have exact change. They'll call when they're nearby and you meet them outside. There's no external delivery charge, but the pies are $9 - $10 each (so perhaps a delivery charge is folded in the price). You can also pick up from their storefront. The chicken and beef pot pies can be ordered frozen and vacuum sealed. You bake 'em when you want 'em. The menu changes weekly, although they always have chicken pot pie. First off, I love that they are individual serving sizes (although my family and I like to get different ones and share). The flavor selections range from savory to sweet to even a spicy & sweet pie. For savory pies, I love the Chicken Pot Pie and the Quiche w/Bacon, Gruyere Cheese, Broccoli, and mushrooms. The pot pie has huge chunks of chicken and and the quiche is the perfect combination of ingredients (anything with bacon has me sold lol). For sweet pies, I like the strawberry lychee pie and pumpkin crunch. Both are awesome! But, the flavor that totally had my mind confused at first then had my taste buds singing was the Banana Ghost Pepper Pie. Like woah!!! I wanted to post this just as a tip, but can't, so am writing this as a review. OK, we went to the Robello Lane location around 11:35 to eat yesterday (Friday). That location is their commercial kitchen only. Two workers were standing by the door and talking, and as we tried to walk in, they asked what we wanted, and then said they had packed up all the savory items and only had a few sweet items (peach pie, e.g.) available for purchase. They were taking all the items to Fort Street Mall for sale there. While I have enjoyed the items I have purchased at their truck at the St. Clement's Church parking lot on Thursday evenings, you should be aware that if you go to their Yelp location on Robello Lane, you will need to get there early if you intend to buy stuff, and will not be able to eat at that location because there are no tables and nowhere to sit. I believe that the two workers were ready to leave, so if you go after that time, no one will be there, and the kitchen will be locked. I have enjoyed the products I have purchased - quiche, chicken pot pie, peach pie, cream pie, etc. - but information about the Robello Lane location should state the information I have provided so people don't waste their time taking an unnecessary trip which will be fruitless. Information on Yelp about this location is sparse, and information on their web page needs to be updated because the last information available is current only as a schedule through December of last year. read more

Alright, alright. I'll admit it - I was intimidated by 2 things when I was at the Eat The Street Garlic - the long line and the price ($7 for a pot pie?!?!?!). However, I figured that there must be a reason why others are willing to wait in such a long line and pay the price, so I figured, "what harm is there in looking at the menu?" I saw the menu. All of their savory pies had GARLIC in it, then I saw a the bacon mac and cheese pot pie. I could practically hear a bell ringing in my head with a voice saying, "And...we have a winner!!!" Now, I had to wait in the 20-person deep line. The line moved quickly, so I think the wait was about 10-15 minutes. When I got to front, I ordered the garlic bacon mac and cheese, but trust me when I say that it was a hard choice to make. Then, I saw the dessert pies. Oh. Em. Gee. Now they looked delicious and I made a spontaneous decision to get one. I was torn between a lava flow, s'more, or a banana one (I did consider for a moment getting all three, but just imagining the calories and the hit on my wallet made me think twice). I ended up getting the s''mores - I figured, it can't be too bad if it has graham cracker crust, chocolate, and toasted marshmallows. I ate the garlic bacon mac and cheese at Eat The Street. Boy, did I feel like I made the right choice! They had bacon pieces (not bits, but actual cut up pieces of bacon) in a creamy cheese sauce. The macaroni was very tender. The crust of the pie was very buttery and complimented the cheese sauce. My favorite part was the top - they had panko flakes baked on top, so it was super crispy and added the needed crunch to the dish. For a pie, it looked small, but it was a nice sized portion - it was about 4-5 inches in diameter and at least 1.5 inches deep. Definitely a heavy dish. I was only able to eat about half of it - if I didn't eat other items at Eat The Street, I probably could eat the entire pie. The s'more pie was saved for dessert at a later time. I stored the s'more pie for a few hours in the fridge when I came home, but decided I needed to try it that night. My husband and I shared it. I toasted the pie for about 5 minutes to heat up the marshmallows. It was really good too! The crust was good; I'm pretty sure I could have eaten just the crust and be a happy camper. The middle was a good texture - it wasn't like pudding, but had body to it and was surprisingly light, airy, and smooth. Even after toasting the pie, the middle was still chilled. The top was warm and had a nice brown color to it; when you order the pie, an employee will toast the marshmallows in front of you. I just added a bit more color to it by reheating the pie. I plan on going to some Eat The Street to get another of their pies (or possibly two). read more

I am so happy that this is one of the new vendors in JABSOM's cafeteria!! It's about time there was a good lunch option down there. The pies may be $8 now, but they're still as delicious as ever. Since my last review, I've been able to try a lot more and recommend the Japanese curry, French onion soup, darkside quiche (hint: if you like quinoa you'll love this), and pumpkin custard, all of which were amazing. I realized that what I just mentioned sounds like actual food dishes, but these are pies I'm talking about! With the absolute best buttery crust. You can get a combo $10 for pie plus salad and a small drink! They take card now but it's minimum $10 charge. If you pay cash, you may get a cookie (literally) and can I say whatever pecan crunch cookie I had was to die for. It was so crunchy and not too sweet... Although, I wonder how much butter was in it. I've had the quiche, the chicken pot pie and the beef shepherds pie; the latter is my favourite and the only reason I would patronise this place. As for the quiche and the pot pie, I've certainly had better both home made and at other stores. The pot pie was too soggy and the chicken was over cooked. The quiche needed more salt, the crust was too hard and perhaps a bit of wine would've added to more flavour as the one I had was absolutely bland. My disappointment may be in part due to the fact that I don't eat them fresh. This review also only has 3 stars because their customer service desperately needs improving. Once, after spending $50 I tried to ask the lady a question about reheating my pies but she completely ignored me, continuing her conversation with some random person about ice cream. I was appalled mainly because I was a paying customer and ice cream person wasn't. After many nights of Instagram stalking and reading review after review on Yelp...I've finally tracked down Sweet Revenge at the Best of Honolulu festival. We made a B-line to Sweet Revenge's tent on that hot summer day. There were already half a dozen people in line as I patiently waited to check out their menu (as pies change daily) and order. Unfortunately, you can't see the menu from afar as it lays flat on the table where you order. However, once you are standing at the front, trying to decide what to order from their vast menu options while you're being stared down by the lengthy line of people standing in the unforgiving heat behind you, there are visual samples of the different pies with descriptions so you know exactly what you're ordering! I ordered the Snickers Pie for $9. The price seemed steep for what appears to be a 6" round. I watched the two staff members scramble to grab a pie from their cooler, top it with chocolate syrup, peanuts and whipped cream while finishing my transaction and taking the next order. They served my pie quickly, with a smile despite the busyness and humidity. The pie is perfect for two. A truly tasty pie made locally and with passion! Was it worth $9? Absolutely. I absolutely love their pies, when I used to frequent Eat The Street events, I would always stop by and check out their pie selection. $8 a pie, at first I thought it was a bit on the pricey side but totally worth it. Their IG pics of their pies will make your mouth water. Hands down their pies with chocolate mousse filling are my favorite. I wish they had a stamp card or loyalty program because I feel like I would've earned a free pie or discount by now! The first pie I tried from here was the Banana Fosters and to be honest it was a bit on the dry side but nothing a scoop of vanilla ice cream couldn't fix. Their pot pies are good as well but I usually get their sweet pies over savory. My favorite pie would probably have to be the Chocolatesplosion or Banana Split. Anything with chocolate mousse and sprinkles and I'm sold. Their lemon crunch, childhood memories, sake pear, smores, and ghost pepper pie were amazing too. Ive been trying to eat KFCs chic pot pie for the last month but they have always been out. I was so excited to finally try SR thinking it has to be 10x better than KFC. The crust on all the pies were excellent. The filling itself was plentiful, with big chunks of chic, and other veges. But as in other reviews it lacked the gravy and sauce. It wasn't dry but if there was sauce in there it would be perfect. Even my Apple crumble was dry inside, but the apples and crumbles tasted right on. My wife on the other hand thought everything tasted excellent. She scarfed down the two mini cupcakes before we even drove past punahou! An independent woman divorced after 25 years of marriage, Kathy opens up her own business doing what she loves, baking (pies). I am totally one for GIRL POWER! Eagerly wanting to support, I follow her company's twitter account, which tweets her location and menu for the following day. I find that every Thursday, she's at the Makiki Farmer's Market. Since I live in the area, I check her out one fine Thursday. Twitter says that I can call/email an order to reserve my pies in case she runs out. I love how Sweet Revenge speaks to the modern technological world! I've only tried her bacon mac & cheese pie and her chicken pot pie. Both AMAZING!!! I am a total sucker for both mac & cheese and chicken pot pie. The bacon mac & cheese was rich, cheesy, with good bacon flavor. However, about halfway through the pie, it got a little too rich for me, if that's even possible. Probably the BEST I've ever had. The crust was flaky, the chicken was quality, and the flavor was delicious without being overly rich. The ratio of crust to filling was also PERFECT. Sweet Revenge sounds like something you would want against an ex or your worst enemy. But that's not the case here because everyone should want a taste of Sweet Revenge....'s PIES PIES PIES. They're known as a food truck that frequented Eat The Street, but I just recently found out they also started selling their stuff in Kaka'ako. SAY WHAT. I'm late about these kinds of things..esp. since the only time I ever tried their pies was due to an email I got at work. Apparently for this past Valentine's Day, Sweet Revenge had a special menu for that occasion and was taking bulk orders AND they were delivering. So of course I took advantage of this opportunity. First thing I noticed was that the pies were $8 each. That's pretty pricey, esp. when you see the size of em. They are super small..but in a cute way(?) So, if you're planning on getting one of these pies for your family, you better get like 5, cause one pie is only enough for yourself. The different pies I could choose from are as follows: CHICKEN POT PIE BEEF CHILE POT PIE QUICHE DARKSIDE (VEGETARIAN QUICHE) TIRAMISU VANILLA BEAN CUSTARD CHOCOLATE SPLOSION Now, I don't know about you...but to me, a pie is a dessert. I don't want no healthy vegetarian pie with quinoa, kale, artichoke, spinach, etc LOL. I opted for the Tiramisu and IT WAS AMAZING. It was a vanilla cake soaked in espresso and consisted of rum and cheese filling in a butter crust. Mhmmmm so yummy. It also had grated bittersweet chocolate on top with whipped cream all around the crust. Definitely my favorite ever. I also heard good things about the Chicken Pot Pie and Chocolate Splosion. Heard a lot of great things about Sweet Revenge and have been itching for a chance to try their chicken pot pie (CPP). Finally got a chance to go during the March 2012 Eat The Street food truck rally. Ordered the CPP to eat there, and a chocolate haupia to take home. It was sublime- probably the best thing I've eaten this month, and the best CPP on Oahu. Flaky french pastry crust with a little bit of cheese, chock packed with tender hand carved white & dark chicken meat, and the right amount of gravy and veggies as a counterpoint. Try it!
