Pad See Ew and basil leaves tofu. My son and I shared.

The food here is out of this world! We ordered pineapple fried rice, Panang curry, basil leaves, and pad see ew. All tofu. The flavour was amazing and the portions are great! So is the service. We've been in Thousand Oaks for almost a week and have been at this place three times!

Thai Iced Tea

Another review here said it best...I cannot believe this place is just casually serving FIRE Vietnamese and Thai food under one roof at Janss. This place is one of my favorite places to eat in the Conejo Valley. I've loved their menu even before the rebrand! Now Sweet Rice Kitchen is back with even more flavorful dishes and bigger portions. My go-tos are their pho (still need to try the post-rebrand version) and pad see ew. I love how light their pad see ew is - not too salty or sauced. If you're down for something more rich and sweet/savory, get the Khao Soi. There was so much meat and noodles that I couldn't finish my bowl! Tips: I recommend ordering all their dishes "spicy." I did not get any spice even with a "mild" level. And always order a Thai iced tea to go with your meal!

Veggie Egg rolls

As we entered, we were immediately greeted and the waitress seemed busy and asked us to grab menus as we went ahead and sat ourselves. We looked over the menu for a few minutes and then she came by and asked if we were ready to order. We were still looking at the menu, so she came back a few minutes later. We were now ready and placed our order. We went with pad see ew with shrimp, veggie egg rolls, house fried rice with chicken, and papaya salad. It is so nice and inviting inside, with the sounds of the wok being worked. Everything came out pretty quickly, and the food and service are amazing as usual! Everything was well made. The flavors are great, the ratios are perfect, the amounts were right. It was all good!!! Definitely give this place a try!

Curry Pineapple

Coming here for lunch occasionally, and so far every visit has been a good experience. They have very affordable lunch prices, and the staff is really nice and fast. Of course, I go with my favorite dish, the Pad Thai, and I love it. My boss usually orders the Pineapple Curry, and she loves it as well. The portions are huge, and we always have leftovers to take home. Highly recommend it, especially for lunch.

Pho
Ari G.

Delicious pho and honestly such a great experience. Being pregnant makes me extra picky about cleanliness and meat quality, and this place totally passed the test -- super clean, fresh ingredients, and the meat was high quality with zero gristly bits (which I really appreciated). Everything was flavorful, service was quick and friendly, and I'll definitely be back.

It would have been a five star review except for some missteps in service. A group of us went on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. The place wasn't crowded so we were seated right away. Everyone ordered various dishes. I had the spicy eggplant and the Lomo Saltado with tofu. They were both delicious. The problem was with one of the dishes. Someone in our group also ordered the Lomo Saltado with beef but for some reason it was taking forever to come. Everyone else got their dishes except that one. We had to ask the server a few times. When it did come out it had the wrong protein, they brought it out with tofu instead of the beef. I felt bad for my friend. Not only did she have to wait a long time for her food but it came out incorrectly. She told the server but she went ahead and accepted it. I think she didn't want to wait again. The server at that point should have been more apologetic and even possibly offered a complimentary drink to compensate for their mistake. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of service recovery. Good thing the dishes were tasty and most likely we will be back again. Hopefully the service will be better next time.

Kha soi
Ping P.

So delicious! We got the combo pho and kha soi (curry noodles). Both had lots of flavor and are generous with their portions. Service was super nice and efficient. Clean, new feeling vibe. We will definitely come back to try more menu items.

Orange chicken

Everything was fresh. The owners were very kind and service was quick. 10/0 I have no complaints. We had the orange chicken and it was perfectly crispy and the combo pho. Both were so delicious. Can't wait to try more of the menu

Bomb chicken wings!!

Came to have lunch, after the gym, and recall there was a ownership change. I was super hungry and wanted try 2 dishes however wanted it in " to go" boxes , so I can pack them up. The server was very friendly and understood wanting to nibble on two meals. The drunken noodles with beef was awesome! I had it medium spice level, however it felt kinda hotter than that however it was tolerable to devour. Great portions and good amount of vegetables & meat. Their other speciality ( per their menu) is orange chicken however they use thigh meat. I typically don't order this dish but the impulse was there and must go forward. It was also very good. I also had a Vietnamese coffee to enjoy. There is plenty of seating inside and outside patio. Would return.

Garlic noodles with shrimp
Ashley K.

I've come here for pho many times, but forgot to leave a review. Today, I had Garlic noodle dish with Parmesan, and it came with horseradish dressing on side for the lil shrimp. The papaya salad was fresh and flavorful. Staff are friendly. Place is clean..all good!

Pho brisket and Basil Leaves with a Singha

Pho brisket and Basil Leaves with a Singha and watching the NBA highlights oh yeah! What else do you need. The male cashier and the owner are wonderful and go over the top to make sure your at home and all your hunger pains go away. Perfect meal and great people.

Lychee lemonade
Carla R.

ambiance is casual. Service is done by young bloods lol I mean younger generations- our server was nice and accommodating, very sweet and knowledgeable, but it's like we have to ask for everything. We ordered chicken curry that has soup or juice in it, and we had to ask for spoon on several times... we had to ask for water and straws and napkins. Food tastes great though and good portions for the price.

Ribeye pho

Had the ribeye pho and it was ready very quickly and delicious! The staff are friendly and attentive. I've also had the khao soi which is incredible and nice to find as not all Thai restaurant serve it.

The Japanese Sukiyaki base was perfectly mild and flavorful -- exactly what I needed. Paired with tender chicken and fresh veggies, it hit the spot without being heavy. Service was super friendly and attentive (shoutout to Alina for the great service! ). Portions are generous for the price, and the quality is top-tier. I also grabbed a simple hot tea that was perfect. This place is a true fusion win: authentic Thai flavors + customizable hot pots + excellent boba. Family-owned vibes shine through in every bite. The pho broth is good and tasty but they put less meat in their bowls than other pho places. Spring rolls were lacking a lot of the typical herbs and flavorless. Service was poor. Spring rolls usually include mint and garlic chives. The ones here only came with lettuce and were thus super bland. We also ordered this right when we sat down yet they never came. I had to ask twice about the spring rolls. The rolls came at the very END of the meal after we were super full from eating pho, I was tempted to send them back but my partner still wanted them. It was disappointing though. When we were ready to pay, they said go up front to pay. Whereas earlier they were bringing the bill to the tables. We went up front. There was a long line of people all waiting to pay. I felt disappointed again. I don't know if I'll be back. I'm going to give the other pho places a try before I decide. I think this place may be my new favorite restaurant…read more My friend and I walked in on a Friday night at 6:30 PM, with no reservations. The place was packed, but I have to assume we got really lucky because we got seated right away at an open table near the front. Our server greeted us immediately and brought us waters for the table. We were overwhelmed initially by the menu options because everything sounded incredible. We asked our waitress what she recommended, and she said literally everything on the menu is amazing - nothing is bad and every dish is popular. So I was quite impressed to hear that. My friend and I decided to get the steak tartare, woodfire grilled octopus, fried gnocchi, and chicken liver pate. Every single dish was actually incredible. The chicken liver pate came with four slices of toast, some pickled vegetables and ground mustard. The pate was creamy, rich, slightly on the sweeter side, so it paired perfectly with the tang from the ground mustard & pickled vegetables. The woodfire grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. Seriously the best, freshest octopus I've ever had! It wasn't chewy or fishy at all. The texture was absolutely perfect. It was very easy to cut into and juicy. It was paired perfectly with the aïoli as well. The steak tartare was extremely fresh. One of the things that I hate about steak tartare at restaurants sometimes is it will start to look brown from the meat oxidizing so it doesn't always look as appetizing, but this tartare was still had that vibrant red color as if they had just cut the meat. Lastly, the fried gnocchi was amazing. It's the first time I've ever had a dish with fried gnocchi. They paired it with a cream sauce that was absolutely delicious. I wish I remembered what was in it, but it was so good. I wanted to drink that sauce lol. Love how the gnocchi was also perfectly seared, had no lumps, and basically melts in your mouth. Overall, loved the ambience of this place as well. It's very hip. trendy. Definitely a louder environment but perfect for a weekend night out to enjoy great food. I would recommend making reservations. I think my friend and I probably just got lucky because we went a little bit earlier on a Friday night. Also wanna mention all of the wait staff was amazing. Food was served very quickly and we had no issues with any of our orders. I seriously cannot wait to come back here and try every single thing on the menu!

We had a dinner reservation last Saturday which we showed up a little early to have a cocktail before hand. It's located inside of a strip mall with loads of parking. A decent size patio seating. When you walk in, you're greeted with the hostess who were amazing. Right infront of you is the bar area. That itself isn't big at all. There's a few seat along the bar area and that's about it. Also inside dining isn't big as well. Restaurants wasn't massive but nice and quaint and very busy. We were told that if we wanted to grab a drink and take it outside to a spot while we wait for our table it would be fine. They would come get us once it's ready. Cocktails and wine menu was quite nice. They do allow you to bring up to two bottles for a corkage fee. Which we did take advantage of. But beforehand, started off with their smoke and sour cocktails. Mezcal, lime, hibiscus juice, farm egg whites and cherry bitters. It was quite delicious and that smoked mezcal, wow. If you like mezcal, it's worth trying. Bar area isn't big so we had to stand there and wait for our drink. Maybe a 10 to 15 minutes later, we were informed our table was ready. We were seated right behind the bar area for a table for four. I believe Jonathan was our waiter. Very sweet and friendly. Also, it did seemed like a lot of regulars. All the staff members seem to know everyone that was dining. Menu is limited but quite impressive. We started off with a few shared plates before the entrees. -Ember roasted red beets with preserved lemon crèma, spiced pumpkin seeds, pickled Fresno chilis and mint. Wow, it was delicious. The flavors with the beets, kiss kiss. -Smoke trout toast- blisters cherry tomatoes, candy beets, wild arugula, crème fraiche and lemon. This was top dish for starters from all of us. The flavor of the trout was the star of the dish. Highly recommend. -Mushrooms flatbread- shiitake, buna shimeji and oyster mushrooms, tarragon, fiore di Latte mozzarella and crème fraiche. Mushrooms lovers with amazing variety all combined together for a delicious bite. -Spicy scampi flatbread- rock shrimp, parsley, garlic, Calabrian chilis and parmigiano reggiano. It's literally having a seafood scampi but on a flatbread. Wow wow, favorite out of the two flatbread. Definitely recommend. Entrees, Manila clams and salt spring mussels tossed in spaghetti with Calabrian chilis and parsley. The flavors were excellent. Simple but very tasty. -Crispy gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, basil in a Parmesan fondue. It's alway a hit or miss for me but this was a hit. And the elk which was maybe a special. Not quite sure the whole description but it was very tasty. Plus it was very tender and cooked perfectly and mixed with a sauce and topped with crispy onions. Another hit. Lastly we actually had room left for dessert which was the bread pudding. Hot with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect way to end an amazing meal. The service was great. Food was excellent and highly recommended. Each dish had its unique taste that was delicious. Everything ordered was outstanding and no crumbs were left. We would definitely be back.

I'd been wanting to go back and take Dear Hubby to enjoy this very special re-imagining of the previous space, which had been an Irish pub incarnation. When our sister-in-law and two nieces were in town, the five of us were able to spend a quick evening together at Selvin's. We had been working on a project at our house, and by the time we got finished and ready to go out there wasn't a lot of time left as we went on a weeknight and they close at 9:00. I'm surprised that having a full bar, and being attached to a hotel property, that they would hang it up so early - even 9:30 or 10:00 would make more sense. It's such a charming place; seems a shame to have to call it a night so early. The ambiance is absolutely divine, especially out here in suburbia. It's very innovative in its layout. The lighting was carefully planned and is very effective in creating a special mood. And, what can be said about the wall of roses? It's tailor-made for snapping fun photos, that's for sure. The chef is sending out creative and Dee-Licious dishes from the kitchen. Yes, I know how to spell delicious, but it is worth adding the accented flair to stating the fact that this is a cut above many other dining establishments in the Conejo Valley. Dear Hubby and I shared Pappardelle Pasta and a Tuna Tartare appetizer. Both were excellent. One of our nieces ordered the taco platter. Wait till you see the photo. The only thing that was disappointing, menu-wise, was that bread wasn't included, so we ordered some as a side. Two little slices. I've forgotten the price, but I recall that it turned into sticker shock when we saw what was served. I'm tickled that they offer a nice array of zero proof cocktail options. They aren't inexpensive - apparently spirits without alcohol aren't any less (or maybe only slightly less?) than the full-spirited options. Still, it's nice to have the option. Our out of town family members LOVED Selvin's; it was a big hit with all of us. As an added bonus, there was a guitarist playing beautiful acoustic music when we arrived and were seated in the lounge area. Major extra credit!

Selvin's is serving up the epitome of "girl dinner" so the bestie and I had to make a trip to check…read moreit out for ourselves. What is girl dinner you may ask? It's the perfectly curated trio - Dirty Martini, followed by a well dressed crisp Cesar salad, and perfectly hot Truffle French fries. That's girl dinner in a nutshell (trust us on this combo). On their speciality menu it's called "Martinis and Munchies for Two" for $49. An amazing deal split between two friends. Dirty Martini: Some of the best ice cold martinis on this side of town. These cocktails were crafted to perfection and were always a sucker for the blue cheese stuffed olives. Tossed Cesar Salad: A Cesar salad during these hot summer months always hits the spot. Crisp, cold and fresh. The dressing was solid but I must highlight the lightly scattered capers on this salad - so smart and so tasty! Truffle French Fries: After a few martinis these French fries come in clutch. Crispy, hot and perfectly salted - who doesn't love a French fry and an aioli with a kick. Honorable Mention: PASTA. I was very impressed with my pasta dish here. Ordered the pappardelle bolognese and this pasta was a 10/10. Perfectly cooked ribbons of pasta with a hearty meat sauce and the Stracciatella topping sealed the deal for me on this pasta. We had a fabulous girls dinner from start to finish. The ambience at Selvin's is truly magical and we just love the decor and bar area. We had a cozy little booth to ourselves and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Extra kudos to Claudia for being a bubbly, lovely girls girl who was super attentive to us during our meal and made the night A+. Can't wait to come back soon.
