    Peanut curry for lunch... $12.45
    Joshua P.

Really good Thai food. The staff is incredibly kind, and it is refreshing to have a good service yet again... Inside the restaurant is really pretty and thoughtfully well done. I actually had the option to sit on the balcony overlooking the ocean on a sunny day! Since this was my first time to eat at sweet rice, I ordered their famous peanut curry. Red-based curry with heavy peanut influence. Solid proportion of vegetables to the protein... I ordered Thai spicy and it was not at all. So I ordered a side of Thai chili peppers in fish oil, which made up the difference. The dish itself had an overarching sweetness to it, which I have not had before... and I think it overwhelmed the dish just a bit... I will have to go back and try another dish or two, and see if their name runs throughout all of their dishes. That being said, it is a return place for sure! Obviously they have influence from northern Thailand.

Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken at Sweet Rice.

I was sitting in my easy chair at home contemplating my dinner and the available options to me. At home I could make a tuna fish sandwich on Russian Rye, I could order pizza or wings, or both delivered. Or, I could get my lazy butt out of the easy chair and go grocery shopping or eat at a restaurant. I chose the restaurant route. My next choice was the cuisine. I had been thinking about Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken all day and decided it would be my dinner. Normally I go to 1-2-3 Thai when I eat Pineapple Fried Rice, but I decided to go somewhere else tonight and I picked Sweet Rice on Pioneer Way. I ordered some Spring Rolls for my appetizer and the Pineapple Fried Rice for dinner. I arrived right at 5:00 pm when they re-opened for dinner, so no waiting to be seated and my food selections were brought fairly quickly. The Spring Rolls arrived first. They were nice and hot. The roll was light and crisp and the filling was very tasty. I really enjoyed them. I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken spice level 4 stars out of 4 (a.k.a. Thai Hot). Anyone that has read my reviews knows I enjoy spicy food. This "Thai Hot" Fried Rice wasn't all that hot... to me. The was a noticeable spicy flavor, but didn't precipitate any sweat nor any sinus draining. So I was mildly disappointed. However, the Fried Rice was very tasty! It had just the right amount of cashews, and Pineapple. There was a small wedge of lime and garnished with a few sprigs of cilantro (I think). The staff was friendly and attentive. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner and would not hesitate to eat here again.

Last week we stopped in for lunch while searching for vegan options. Due to COVID-19 the restaurant had limited seating inside. Staff were observing proper safety protocols. Hubby ordered the Veggie Delight with soft tofu. This was a great tasting dish. The veggies were nice and fresh and the sauce was very good but left you with a garlic breath. It is good for keeping vampires away. I ordered the orange tofu with brown rice. I have to say I have had a lot of Orange sauces all over the United States and this was the best orange sauce I ever had. And the veggies and tofu were perfect. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The prices were very reasonable.

Sweet Rice impresses me each and every time I'm there. The staff are so incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their dishes and appetizers are excellently proportioned, seasoned, and balanced across veggies and protein. This peanut curry is so delicious! The tofu had a good crisp on it that really worked well with the sauce, noodles, and veggies. We also got calamari and it's one of my favorite calamari of all time! Their ginger cosmo cocktail is such a phenomenal balance between tart and sweet.

The restaurant. located in a small strip mall, has a basic interior with enough space between tables. The radio plays english pop-songs and a large muted TV is showing some home shopping channel. While the servers are clearly inexperienced, they were friendly and helpful. The chicken satay was extremely bland without any grill marks. I think they forgot the fish sauce (Nam Pla) in the marinade, and it probably was just dipped in coconut milk right before cooking instead of marinating overnight. It did not come with enough peanut sauce to save it. The fresh steamed rolls didn't taste Thai at all. It had surimi and was served with a dab of French mustard, which is a bizarre combination. The Pad Krapow Neua lacked heat despite my request for it to be really spicy. I've never had it served without visible chilies (Prik Chee Fa) in the dish, or without a side of Prik Nam Pla. The Khao Soi was good, and offering it with prawn instead of chicken is an interesting choice. Chicken or tofu would be original and probably be a better combination. The orchids added by the servers, touching food on every dish, are unnecessary and unhygienic. And made me doubt if they are pesticide-free or even reused. Missed opportunities: the servers never asked if anyone needed drinks. When water glasses are empty and easily reachable, staff should be able to step in and refill them from behind without interrupting a conversation. It would also help if servers tasted each dish so they could actually describe them to customers. The prices are fair, maybe even too low for some dishes and the entire experience could be so much better with very little effort. And the food did not match the other reviews, was Wipa out or something?
