Such a homey place! The restaurant is welcoming and casual, and the staff was super nice. We ordered at the front and it about 20 min to get our food. Note that it's takeout only but they were fine with us sitting at one of the tables to eat. Ordered the chili basil with chicken and it was pretty good! I imagined it to be more saucy and have more basil but this was yummy too and their portion sizes were generous. My friend got the pad see ew and it was delicious. We're on Whidbey for the week and shot over to Olympic National Park to do some hiking. After 10 miles or so along Hurricane Ridge, we were HUNGRY (and cold!), so Thai food was medically necessary. Phad Thai did NOT disappoint! We got chicken satay, drunken noodles, green curry, Panang curry (all level 4), and Tom Yum soup (level 3). Wow, wow, and (yet again) WOW! This was our first visit here. Really super good food. If you aren't paying attention this place looks like someone's house but there's a sign in the yard. DONT PASS IT UP. The inside is nice and cozy, not really a restaurant atmosphere. Almost like your eating at someone's place. The owner was really nice and very efficient. We started off our meal with Chicken Satay and Fresh Spring Rolls. Both really good. The Chicken had a nice curry flavor and was juicy and tender. The peanut dipping sauce was hot (temperature) not spice, and very flavorful. The Spring Rolls tasted very fresh. It came with two sauces, the hot peanut sauce and a cool gingery teriyaki I think. My wife got the Pad See Ew which was really good cause I tasted it and then ate her leftovers cause I'm a fatty. My Pad Thai was excellent. Their spice level only goes up to 5 but I ordered 7. They brought me a 7. Very good heat and flavor. Usually it's not as hot as they say but this was HOT. Washed it all down with a Thai Iced Tea. Our bill ended up being very reasonable for the amount of food we got. All in all we had a very good experience here and plan on making a return trip very soon to try some of their other dishes. This should definitely be your go-to Thai place on Whidbey Island! As other reviews note this place isn't fast but trust me it's worth the wait. We ordered take-out around 5:05PM on a Friday and we're told it would be an hour. When we arrived at the restaurant it was still another 10 minutes before the food was ready. No big deal but just be prepared. Since it was a cold and rainy November evening we ordered the Tom Yum in addition to Red Curry with beef, Pineapple fried rice with chicken and chicken Phad Thai. Anytime I'm trying out a Thai place I order the Phad Thai as a rule. In this case that ended up being our least favorite dish. Not bad by any means but nothing special. The Pineapple fried rice was delicious and the Red Curry was very nice but the star of the show was the Tom Yum! Wow, that soup was full of aromatics and intensely flavorful. Just what the doctor ordered on a dark and rainy PNW night. Pros Tom Yum that will warm your soul Cons Bit of a wait but worth it! read more

The food here which I ordered to go is always excellent, hot with good ingredients. It is the best value for a dinner in Coupeville. In my opinion I've eaten here probably 3 to 4 times a week. Closed on Mondays! We came here on a Tuesday night in the winter and had the place totally to ourselves. Very personalized, fast service. It's in a house, so there are tables and chairs throughout the ground floor in a few smaller rooms. Good for an intimate dining experience. Unfortunately the restroom was out of order, but then again, there was no way they could expect a bunch of hikers who had been looking forward to using one. Oh well. The food was pretty good. We recommend the Rama (peanut) noodles and the fried rice, both with tofu, no fish sauce. Plenty of vegetarian options here. We asked for medium spice and I'd say that's what they made. Great little family owned Thai restaurant located in a cute Victorian home a couple blocks from the main strip. I heard this place was awesome, so stopped by while passing through town on a roadtrip. I should have gone with the curry, as was suggested by a trusted friend. Instead, my stupid mouth wanted noodles, and that was a mistake. Given the name, I assumed pad thai would be a safe choice... wrong! The noodles were over cooked, but also under-fried so it was like a weird soupy, too sweet and very sour, ketchup spaghetti. I LOVE tamarind, and usually forgo pad thai at Thai restaurants because the tamarind is typically substituted with ketchup here in the States. When I sent it back, someone came out to explain that they use tamarind and not ketchup, and that must be why I don't like it. Oh no sir, this is just terrible... inedible terrible. I only took one bite before sending it back. Perhaps their tamarind went bad, which would account for the SUPER sour taste? I don't know, but it tasted horrible. On a bright note, the dumplings were tasty, and again, I hear the curry is fantastic. read more

This is a very solid Thai joint; of course don't expect a mind-blowing experience in lil' old Coupeville, but the fact there's a pad thai & curry place as decent as this is worth appreciating. Decided to try a new place for Valentines Day. This was our first visit here. We had the Egg Rolls. We only got four and I now see that we were supposed to get six. They are actually just small spring rolls. Pretty pricey for at $7.95 (IMHO). Also got the Chicken Satay. Peanut sauce was very good and chicken pieces were a good large size. I got the Garlic Lovers with chicken for the entree. I ordered 3 stars. It tasted delicious but was more like a pepper chicken dish than garlic. Hubby got the chicken Pad Thai, 2 stars. It was amazing! The Thai Iced Tea was delicious!! Will definitely come back or get take out. Service was a little slow but there was only one lady working all the tables and register. This may have been one of their busier nights, not sure. I posted pictures of their take home menu and our dishes. 4 stars just because of a long wait for to-go boxes and the mix up with only giving us 4 spring rolls. Again, will definitely go back. Also, keep in mind, this is an old Victorian house from 1889. So you are getting that older environment. Some music in the dining area would be nice. We have a bit of a tradition of finding a local Thai joint to give a whirl while out on vacation, and since we spotted this while driving through Coupeville we decided to stop in. First impressions were a bit odd. This place is a home that has been partially converted into a restaurant, it looks like the owners/staff probably live in the upstairs part of the house that's cordoned off. We were also the only patrons there at the time, so unlike other restaurants where there is some kind of background noise - be it other patrons, televisions, or music - here it was just really quiet. Service was really slow at first, slow enough that we were beginning to wonder if we'd been forgotten and started looking for other options. However, before we gave up and headed on out the waitress appeared with our drinks and took our orders; immediately thereafter we could hear pots and pans banging away in the kitchen as they got to work. From here on out the server was actually fairly attentive and super friendly. Perhaps they were just busy with something else at the time? Anyway, when our food arrived, our concerns about speed were pretty much forgotten - it is quite good! Kids had fried rice which they ate up, my wife cleaned off her plate and I was quite happy with my red curry. I ordered spicy level 5 on a 1-5 scale, which seemed to surprise the server, and I'd say it was more like a 3 or 4 in terms of actual spiciness. Perhaps the local palate is not as used to spice as I am accustomed to seeing? Regardless it was quite tasty and left me happy. Portions were a bit small but we were ordering off the lunch special menu, so that was to be expected. Anyway, other than a slow start it turned out to be a very positive experience and I was quite happy with the food. We shared the spring roll appetizer, I had the PAD SEE-EW and my boyfriend had the orange chicken and a large glass of wine. The food was outstanding and the bill was less than $50. Husband and I came here for our anniversary lunch/dinner date. We weren't sure what to think, but another yelp review sealed it for us. We were going in! It's an old house, so very homey. The wait staff was very nice and hospitable. Food = SO GOOD! We really had a very difficult time deciding whose dish was better. We started with fresh rolls for our appetizer and gobbled them up. Husband ordered chicken pad thai (3 stars), and I ordered pad see ew with tofu (2 stars). There was no difference in the spiciness of the two dishes, so I think my 2 star ended up also as 3 stars. Advice: order one star less than you would at any other Thai restaurant and start there. This didn't hold back my rating, because this is my rule anytime we try a new place, and because I really want to go back again! read more

Stopped by here earlier this week for the first time after driving past it for years. Ordered food to go and was pleased with a short wait time. Yellow curry was cooked to meet my request of 1/2 chicken and 1/2 tofu Tofu was great and curry was flavorful. Also ordered chicken satay which was good as well. I had my first meal there today. I say first meal as I am willing to go back....I think... the larb salad was ok not terrific and really had too many red onions even for this onion lover. The green curry was very good on the seasoning and the veggies but the beef was like jerky. It makes you believe the chicken is dry and the tofu would be tough. Worse of all: the rice was not done, it was dry and under cooked. Service was very under trained and while he was earnest it was poor. I'll try again but I'm not hopeful. read more

Flavorful food, a pretty homely set-up and a super pleasant server on a beautiful island. We were a table of 12 so I won't discuss everything that was ordered but here are the highlights. Best things to order - Pad Thai, drunken noodles, yellow curry (don't go by the look of it, it tastes good) and fried rice (both tofu and pineapple). Yes, and the Thai iced tea (it is a on the more sweeter side so you might want to ask the server to decrease the sweetness)! Both the fried rices had distinct flavors, most of the people on the table loved the pineapple fried rice (it had a nice Indian flavor) but I was a fan of the tofu fried rice. It was very frustrating considering there are limited options for places I can eat on the island (vegan and gluten free). I had to go back to Oak Harbor to find a place to eat. We liked this place at first then..... We would like a salad with our meal "we don't have any time to make them and they go bad" we were the only customers there... How about the Thai chili's with vinegar? "We don't have those they go bad and we don't have any vinegar". The more we thought about this the more we asked ourselves ( aren't they a food service restaurant?). Another excuse was " it's just me and the very old man in the kitchen I don't have time to do any prep. Our server had plenty of time to chat ( we heard about where she lived and all her future plans) and no time for service. The flavor of the food was good but with no spice tray with the vinegar peppers it was lackluster and very bland. However, I am giving them a two-star rating as they are frequently not open during hours they advertise as being open, and it is a problem. Twice this weekend along I have went there after noon when they advertise being open, only to find they were closed and there was no explanation posted. We have eaten at this location through several different owners over the years, as I grew up in this old Victorian house and like to go see it. Today we had lunch here under the newest owners. The building itself is kinda run down, yard needs cleaning, decor is odd, staff very nice but not very experienced and they don't speak English well. Giving our order was a challenge. But... the food was VERY good!! I'd go back!! The Phad Thai chicken was some of the best we've had. Prices were reasonable. If they work on staff and ambiance it could be a great restaurant. Town was very busy today so we decided to try this quaint Thai restaurant on Main St over the much hyped Front St standards. There were 4 of us and we were seated immediately. The selection is varied and we all found items to our liking. The food arrived quickly and seasoned to our preference. Our waitress caught a preparation mistake and had it replaced before coming to the table. We were very happy with our selections and the Thai ice tea was especially good. read more

This restaurant has made a significant turn around since the change in ownership this year. The ambiance is much more friendly, the restaurant cleaner, and the good is excellent.
