After a long, very hot day at Monticello we sought a nice air conditioned spot for a sit down on our way home. We found this little treasure in the heart of Culpepper! The restaurant upon entry is very clean and there's plenty of room between tables. The waitress was very friendly and never let a glass go dry. Our party of four had the Rib-eye (1xmedium /1xmedium well) which were cooked perfectly. Another member of the family had a Cobb Salad that was delicious. I went for the Cod and Shrimp which was really well seasoned and tasted great. Thanks Sweet Roux for giving us a great meal, great service, and a wonder break from the long day. We came for the Valentine's special! I had a margarita, the spinach artichoke appetizer, Filet Mignon, twice baked potato, broccoli and caramel cheesecake. It was soooo much food for the price and All I can say is I LOVED it, Every bit of it! Definitely should Offer that steak on the regular menu! The garlic butter was a great addition! We tried it out for the first time today. I have to say we were impressed. We loved the clean interior with modern lines. Our server was very helpful and knew the menu when we asked questions. My partner had a special request from the kitchen and they took care of it without question and superbly. The food was fresh and well presented. We decided to order dinner from Sweet Roux during the pandemic because we would much rather support our local businesses than the big guys. The delivery from Doordash was timely, the food arrived hot, and the portions were good. I had the Grilled Salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes with a side caesar salad. Everything was delicious, however, the salmon and asparagus were both overcooked and the salad was overdressed with soggy croutons. My daughter had the seafood pasta which she said was good, except the shrimp was overcooked. I suspect that part, if not the entire reason, was because the food continued to cook in transit. We will have to try them again when we can sit in the restaurant and eat the food promptly. read more

My wife, toddler and I went in to try this place out and we really enjoyed our food along with the amazing staff. Amy was so friendly and great with our kid. The food tastes fresh and homemade. The wings were delicious and so was the Alfredo pasta. We hope this place sticks around, parking is a bit tricky since it's an off the street joint but they do have plenty of parking in front of and behind the restaurant. Definitely give them a try, the atmosphere is also really relaxed and clean. read more

When I walked by with a friend one day, I was excited to see something new in the area. My husband and I decided to actually try it one day. We got a few appetizers, he got a burger, and I got the seafood pasta dish. We were the only ones in the restaurant (I believe it had opened a week prior to). It looked completely different from the former place it was (no more space creatures and planets painted on the floor). I could tell they were still getting things together. The service was great and the food was delicious. The only critical note I had was that I found the portions to be extremely small. I believe we spent $60-70 after tip and were both still hungry, that shouldn't be the case after ordering an $18-20 pasta dish. Food was excellent though. read more

I am dissappointed at a recent meal purchase from this restaurant whose name I will not ever mention again. What a waste of our dollars that we try to spend in our home community. We ordered the shrimp appetizer which was edible, We added to that a Chicken Sandwich and Pastrami Rueben (which is a change from Corned Beef & not the best change I might add). The reuben sandwich was dripping in russian dressing and the so-called pastrami was sparse and tough as shoe leather. The Chicken was greasy and salty. This unamed place may serve to people with eclectic tastes in foods but the food we paid for was neither eclectic, good or worth the money spent. We frequent restaurants in town that cater to its customers with good, savory foods, ie...Pinto Thai, the Copper Fish, It's About Thyme. Nix on "Sweet Nothing'. The food was so-so. It tasted like frozen food that was bought from a wholesale club, then cooked or microwaved.

The first time I tried Sweet Roux is when they first opened and they were doing their first restaurant week. I was very disappointed. But I always heard great things and I thought are these people crazy? Well, this past Restaurant week I decided to give it another go and I'm very glad I did. Because wow! I ordered the filet mignon. We have a great steakhouse in Culpeper and you wouldn't think a little place like this would have a good steak but like Janice from Friends, "Oh My God!" It was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I ordered meatballs as an appetizer, they were not my favorite. I think I would've liked them better if they were served with more sauce. For dessert I ordered Tiramisu. At first I was upset because it was not at all like a traditional tiramisu. This was more like a cake with a tiramisu twist. Y'all I could not stop eating this cake!!! I even bought another one to take to go. Lastly, our waitress was amazing. You could tell she was a little overwhelmed, (it was very busy that night) but she handled it like a boss. She checked on us multiple times. She was knowledgeable of the menu and she was very kind. I wish I knew her name. I will 100% be back! We decided to try this new restaurant out after stumbling across it on social media. We decided to call ahead since there would be 9 of us. When we arrived, the table was ready and we were seated right away. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Food came out fast and was delicious as well. We stopped in to check out this new restaurant and we were happy we did! Had wonderful fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, followed by the chipotle fried chicken sandwich and the flatbread philly cheesesteak. Everything is fresh, including hand made onion rings and cooked to order rib eye steak! Even though the food is made to order the service was quick. We were too full for dessert, but they looked so delicious we took home some cinnamon chocolate banana cake to share later. They do not have a liquor license yet, but it is coming soon. Mediocre. The food came out at a decent rate. The coke and sweet tea both tasted off. We got the pimento cheese dip. The pita bread were soggy. But the pimento was good by itself. The breakfast burrito was basically black beans and a few red peppers and some cheese. I didn't like it but my husband thought it was okay. We got the peanut butter chocolate pizza. It was good, the best thing we received, but still nothing to write home about. The service was mediocre as well. She didn't check on us at all and took forever for us to receive the check and then for her to pick it up again. There were only two other tables besides us. They have found a person who was able to repair the damage the prior owners did to the windows which made them look dirty even though they were clean. In addition they have added more lights to the dining area. Their food is fresh, well prepared and very tasty read more
