Sweet Slade's Creamery & Blades is such a hidden gem in Lakeside. The ice cream is great, but the real standout is everything they've created for families -- a full indoor kids' mini town, a cozy game room, and even axe throwing upstairs for adults. It's clean, fun, and exactly what our small town needed. I also want to compliment the staff. Ady and Airivyne were both wonderful so kind, welcoming, and genuinely good at what they do. As a small business owner myself, I know how hard it is to find employees who show up with that level of care and professionalism, but Sweet Slade's absolutely did. Ady especially went above and beyond and really made us feel taken care of. It makes such a difference. For a small town with very few year-round indoor options for kids, this place is a blessing. We went up to Pinetop for New Year's and actually had time to explore this trip. We've been wanting to try this ice cream shop for a while, and I don't think it's been open very long. They were out of a lot of flavors, both in their to-go freezer and in the shop, so we settled on a few options. The prices were great for what you get, and the flavors were so good. We tried Mint Brownie, Vanilla with sprinkles, and one of their signatures Canyon Land (vanilla with Reese's and Butterfinger). We didn't take any pictures of the ice cream because we were too busy inhaling it. While talking to the girls, I learned they've also started making hot chocolate. It looked really good churning in the machine, but we didn't try it this time. I do wish they had more flavor options, I was a bit disappointed by that, but what we did have was excellent. Considering it was a holiday weekend and they were out of a lot, our experience was still great. My critique would be that they expand their menu to include floats and drinks, even bottled drinks. The space is huge, and they could even serve simple coffee from local roasters. I'd also love to see a candy wall, even just for decor. It would give Willy Wonka vibes and would be so cute. read more

This is a family run ice cream store where if they didn't get a chance to make the chocolate ice cream today, they're out! This is not a problem as they have multiple other choices and each of them delicious. They have a dairy free choice for those that cannot tolerate dairy and I found it very satisfying. The service was good but having one person on staff presented a little longer wait than it should have been. Not only did he have to serve ice cream he had to facilitate the axe throwing process. He certainly needed help. This is a total family experience with a play room for the kids and upstairs where you can go throw an axe at a wall! No matter what you should give them a try! Pinetop has long been in need of an ice cream shop like this! From the adorable decor, to the play area, game room, and axe throwing this is a great addition to the mountain. The ice cream is delicious-made in house not outsourced. The flavors change which is nice you get different options each time you go. I've had the tin roof and cookies and cream- so good. The mangonada was different and tasty too. I think their scoops are reasonably priced for how big of a scoop they are. Kids scoops start at $3 and a single $5.50. They even have pints pre- packed and ready to go. You can expect a line as it is a hopping place and there aren't many other options in town, but the girls working there are doing their best and serving as fast as they can. I've been to this new creamery multiple times. Cookie dough's a hit or miss, suggest you don't get unless you want vanilla. Teenage employees don't know how to scoop and place blame on the ice cream makers, when there was clearly a layer of cookie dough under the vanilla he scooped. Previous experiences there were large balls of cookie dough. If you do go here, get something fully mixed in, wouldn't want you double charged when ice cream is $6 for a scoop. Axe throwing was fun, but I must've gone on a day with used boards or dull axes because at least half the throws would stick and fall off or bounce right off. I wasn't playing alone and this was a problem for everyone there. Most likely won't be back. read more

Atmosphere is an old ice cream parlor, old music and a great little tiny town play place for kids 8 and under. I couldn't get my kids out to get their ice cream they had so much fun. Took my oldest son for a visit--he had been before with his mom, but it was my first time here. What a great spot! There's a fun area for kids to play while you wait in line or after you've finished your ice cream, which is a huge plus for parents. It seems to always be busy, and that's a great sign--the ice cream is clearly a local favorite and absolutely delicious! Dean was working the freezer during our visit, and he was fantastic. Despite the steady crowd, he stayed upbeat, friendly, and professional the entire time. His positive attitude and excellent customer service really stood out. This my second trip to this shop. It is clean, the ice cream selection is great but this last time we came in on a Thursday October 16th and the girl on shift @7:30pm was rude, overwhelmed, yelling at the kids, slamming doors, slamming ice cream tubs, her behavior was very unprofessional. We could not even stay to finish because she was making it very clear she was frustrated and taking out on the customers. very disappointing after buying $30 worth the ice cream. We went there for our first time on Tuesday ( May 19th ) evening because we were visiting the area for a couple of days. I have to say that it was not the most welcoming experience in the slightest. The young man served us with our ice cream and seemed very disinterested and the young lady that rang up our ice cream seemed not so welcoming either. The thing that really annoyed me was the fact that after the young man had helped us he walked away and immediately picked up his cell phone and started scrolling , which I find very unprofessional when you have customers in the store. The very least he could have done was wait until we left The Slade Roof ( ? ) ice cream that I got ( at least that's what I think it was) was basically a scoop of ice cream with hardly anything mixed in with it and the strawberry ice cream wasn't that much better and the waffle cone tasted a little bit stale. Not only is the ice cream amazing, and the home made waffle cones even better (if thats even possible), but the folks working there are some of the nicest, friendliest people around. I brought my daughter up to Pinetop and we decided to check out an ice cream shop. Our first stop was White Mountain creamery but they closed at 3pm - next was Slade's. We were kindly greeted by Aryvyne. She helped answer any questions we had, made some flavor suggestions, and even gave us advice on dining options while we are in the area. Unsure what the issue was. Waffle cone delicious. Best waffle cone we've ever had. Ice cream flavors good. Lemon cheesecake scoop contained only one tiny piece of cheesecake but had a good flavor. Mint chip flavorful. Homemade ice cream according to staff. We felt ice cream is overpriced. We live here FT and will only go occasionally. 3 cones $18.50 plus tip. read more
