Literally my favorite bakery I have ever been to. They have so many good choices, it's hard to choose. Most bakeries have a few things that look good. Everything they have is so cute and original. We all know how some cupcakes look beautiful, but don't taste the best. That is not the case here. I have to get a cupcake each time I come. The frosting tastes like candy. I hate to be in the position to do this, but the ordering processing this year was different from the standard I previously had. So today 6/21/2023 I received an email that read: "Unfortunately, at this time we have secured other orders for July 29th and we won't be able to fulfill your order. Sorry for any inconvenience." I asked for a quote on June 12, for 3 dozen cookies with a request for a custom design on them. They gave me a call, on June 16, for clarification of exactly what I wanted, I tried to explain as best as could over the phone but I ultimately went in to try to talk to someone in person to clarify. I later received an email at 1:10 the same day stating: "Thank you for sending the graphics and for stopping by our Bakery this morning to clarify what you would like for your cookie order. Unfortunately, we would not be able to make the cookies in the style that you are requesting. As we said, we can make them as a printed photo/graphic edible image with a painted gold frame. If you would like to proceed with the printed cookie please let us know. Otherwise, sorry for any inconvenience." At 2:26 the same day, I responded to that email to request if they could do 3 dozen in a simpler design. "Ok, could we instead of animal theme could we do a crown, party hat, and top hat inside the cameo-shaped cookies." Today, June 21, I received this email that says, "Unfortunately, at this time we have secured other orders for July 29th and we won't be able to fulfill your order. Sorry for any inconvenience." This final email left me confused and misled, I thought I was still in the planning stage of getting my order fulfilled but instead booted out because other orders were past "the planning stage". It's frustrating that after about 9 days of trying to place an order only to be told they're booked. I also tried calling to get a better understanding as to why this happened with no real closure. Sadly, though, I really like this bakery and they did an awesome job on previous orders that me and my partner have place through them, I wish the situation was better managed. read more

I bought three cupcakes for my sister's birthday! I ordered a Samoa, PB Cup, and a Cookies and Cream. The cake was soft and not dry at all. The frosting was just enough and not too over powering! Had our Boy's custom cake made here. I showed them the picture on Pinterest and they made it exactly like the picture. For $100 we got a custom 6 inch round "camp" themed cake. For first bdays, they will include a complimentary smash cupcake. The cakes were very cute!!! So why the 3 stars? The taste wasn't all that spectacular. I think Costco's cake taste better. I've always read reviews of this bakery, but never got a chance to go until yesterday. The inside isn't too decorated, and not too big, but it's a very cute space. They had a wonderful selection to choose from, although, some of their treats are a bit overpriced. I chose to get the cookies & cream cupcake and the champagne sugar cookie (?). I'm not a fan of cupcakes, but I got it for my little cousin and took a bite. It was very sweet, and there was more icing than the cupcake itself. The good thing is, the cupcake wasn't dry! The champagne cookie I got for myself, the icing overpowered it so I scrapped it off - the cookie itself was amazing! I haven't been back since my last review and am pretty shock it's taken me this long to come back! Today we had their fudge brownie, truffle and macaroons...the fudge brownie was good, but I definitely have had better at other bakeries and their truffle was dry and hard to bite into...so why 4 stars?!? This isn't about the customer service or how adorable the shop was, anyone that walks in would know that. This rating is a 100% based on the food. The food was beautifully decorated and charming but that's all it had going for it, sadly. My boyfriend and I saw the macarons in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, almost all with a non-traditional flavors and sparkles (?). We were worried when we saw the flavors, but I chose banana and he chose vanilla anyway. Then we also chose two lemon bars. The total was around $12. Yikes. We walked to a local park, excited to try our macarons. We had bought one at a farmers market a month or so ago and have been craving them ever since our pistachio-flavored love affair. I bit in to my banana macaron and it was instantly disgusting. All I tasted was artificial banana laffy-taffy flavored to the max with a side of pure sugar. No cookie flavor. No nice airy crisp and a slight chew to finish it off with a complimentary flavor. It was just laffy taffy sugar that sort of resembled a macaron. I spat it out in disgust. He only took one bit of his vanilla flavored macaron and felt non-plussed. I think that wraps up our macaron experience. We shouldn've listened to our guts when we saw all the strange flavors and sparkles. In the end, I'd describe them as: too sweet, too much fake flavor, and overly ambitious. The lemon bars were almost on the same note. Gorgeous and enticing looking, disgusting to eat. It was all egg flavor. It was lacking that tangy, zesty-lemon and and sweetness. I hate writing such a terrible review for such an adorable shop. But it just really tastes like the bakers don't care about flavor, only just putting out a deceivingly beautiful product. read more

This place looks decent and the display of pastries looked great. I got the banana split eclair which was good in flavor but a tad hard. The macaroons also had good flavor, but disappointed on the texture. As soon as I took a bite it all fell apart into pieces, way too crumbly and hollow, kinda disappointed because I was hoping I was able to find a place for macaroons close by. I also purchased the sugar cookies which looked very pretty but tasted like they have been out for weeks. The frosting was rock hard. The prices are expensive for the quality. I can't believe that I haven't reviewed Sweet Themes yet. Geeze. Stupid school clouding my brain. I learned of this bakery from my sweet bf, who often comes home with sweet things. One day my friend and I had planned on doing some thrift shopping and I suggested we stop here for lunch. (You know, wanting something delicious and not from a franchise.) I decided to try the chicken salad sandwich. OH GAWD. It's a fresh chicken filling (with capers and almonds!!) on a non-soggy croissant (very important) and leaves so many others in the dust. But... like you might guess from the name... they have more sweet than savory. I won't lie-- it's often hard to decide what the crap I want to eat. I usually end up choosing something with red on it hahah I don't know why. During summer, it's nice to sit outside. Right now, it's freezing, and it'd be just as nice to sit inside. With a coffee. And my study books. Mmmmmmm. PS: Their marshmallow latte is fan.tas.tic. Not too sweet, and marshmallowy enough but not like a liquid Peep. read more

As of March 1, 2014 the bakery store front no longer serves soup, sandwiches, lunch, etc because of their demand for cakes and cookies - and I don't blame them at all, we had our first cake from Sweet Themes and was swept off our feet with decadent flavor! (note, I'm basing the date and loss of lunch items from a note that was posted on the register when I visited this weekend). We bought my daughter's 2nd birthday party cake, a chocolate cake with white chocolate filling and butter cream. The character is from a UK cartoon, not many are familiar with and they nailed the character on the cake, it was absolutely beautiful and clean work (especially for being buttercream on the outside and not fondant). So my cake experience for presentation, taste and my guests rating is a 5 Star! Did I mention the price?? I got a 4 layer cake that fed 25 people (with enough left over to feed 40) for a super low price of $80, for those wanting quality without breaking the bank, this is the place to get your cake!! I have to dock 1 star for the in store experience. The shop is cute, quiet, in a great location, it's super clean and the staff is friendly. However when I was there to make my payment for my cake I decided to try a few things from the case, and I will be honest, that I went into panic mode. Thankfully the cake and cookies I ordered tasted nothing like the cookie or macaroons I got out of the case in the shop. I love macaroons and unfortunately they were not even edible :( The cookie itself was so hard I thought I broke a tooth when biting into it, and the filling was gummy and not tasteful at all. I also got a sugar cookie with frosting, and the cookie was dry and bland and the frosting was terrible, I actually spit it out. It was like food coloring flavored butter. A very bad experience in deed. So if you want the special order cookies - be sure to buy in advance for your order and not from the case - and of course, get your cake here - it's super good, and worth the drive if you're coming in from outside of Kent! read more

This place is really cute! We stopped by about 30 minutes from closing, so there wasn't a lot to choose from, but we still got delicious Oreo and peanut butter cupcakes that were really good. I appreciated that they weren't dry and still tasted fresh, even though it was so late in the day. They have very reduced hours - only open 10-5 Tuesday-Saturday, so you can't stop by here after work unless you have early hours. They only get 4 stars because of their hours and the fact they don't have a lot of vanilla cupcake options. I don't mind chocolate, but I really prefer vanilla. Highly recommend you trying them out if you're in the area! read more

I'm staying middle of the road here. While I love the cute little sweets shop in wonderful downtown Kent, I feel it is a bit pricier than it should be. Everything is decorated super cute. I really wanted to find a good bakery near my work so I turned to Yelp. This one is only a few miles away so I thought I would give it a try. It is located right by/in Kent station and there was plenty of parking. The store was cute, clean and easy to find. I walked in and saw one huge case of baked goods only to find there was another additional case as well. They have everything; cupcakes, macaroons, cookies, individual cheesecakes, cake pops, rice krispies and much more! I was impressed by the range of options as well. I ended up getting the éclair (which was about the size of my face), a red velvet cupcake and a couple of the almond macaroons. My favorite was the macaroons for sure. They were perfect! French Macarons were a no go for me. I tried the Chocolate, Strawberry, and Pistachio ones. The Strawberry had the best flavor out of the three, hoooowevvver the cookie was very crunchy and hard. The pistachio was awful!! I couldn't finish it. And everyone who knows me know that I will NOT waste a macaron. It has a very strange minty taste to it. No pistachio flavor at all. Not to mention it was also very crunchy and hard. It fell apart on me after the first bite. Now the chocolate one was perfect with texture. It had all the qualities of a Macaron. Chewy texture and crisp shell. But the flavoring wasn't very good. It's kinda hard to mess up chocolate don't you think? Also these cookies are very tiny.
