Completely unexpected. Hubby wanted to have a quick lunch so we stopped in here. There is seating and at about 1ish during the week, it was busy but not packed. They have a nice half and half deal with half a wrap/sandwich and a cup of soup. Hubby and dad each got that, one with clam chowder, the other tomato soup. I tried some of both. I don't usually like tomato anything but this soup was GOOD! Especially dipping a piece of bread and eating the soaked piece. The clam chowder was also yummy. I ordered the Waldorf chicken salad wrap which was just the right amount of all flavors and textures. I felt healthy eating it but was also very full after. What a local gem!! We were in Oyster Bay volunteering and we were hungry after all the hard work. A couple of friends recommended this place, and especially the tomato soup. I got the half soup and half wrap special with the tomato soup and turkey club, and Cathie got the Waldorf salad wrap. I was able to sneak a bite of Cathie's wrap and was a little jealous. The combo of the sweet apple with the savory elements was very good. But one sip of my soup did away with all regrets. So good! And the Turkey club was good too. It was a rainy dreary day, so a warm soul was perfect to counteract that. Service was so nice too! I had no complaints and hope to get back soon to try some of their other foods! read more

Sweet Tomato is a VERY sweet little sandwich and soup shop just steps away from the Oyster Bay Train Station. You can grab your sandwich, eat in the dining room, or step outside and eat in the little square. On Sunday, we enjoyed our sandwich outside, saw vendor trucks, kids, and (of course) lots of dogs. Ahhh, Anytown, USA. The young lady who helped us was friendly, perky, and helpful when we asked to customize our sandwich. We turned the tuna wrap into a sandwich and chose multi-grain. Absolutely spectacular sandwich. While usually a HUGE menu is a customer turnoff, ST makes their menu/options work for them and can quickly modify/punch up their existing menu items. ST walks the line well with pricepoint and portions, challenging in today's competitive food climate. I visited this place approximately 2 months ago with my elderly client and her daughter. They love this place and I do not know why because the so called vegan vegetables I had were not tasty. And I suspected they were not organic. I take issue with the fact that when I called and asked if they serve organic vegetables the female that ans my call lied and said they do. 2 wks ago I took my client there and prior to going there, I called and asked if there vegetables are organic. The woman that took my call asked her coworkers twice if their veg were org. I would think that is something an employee would know. Yummy sandwiches and soups perfect for a picnic. We were going to spend the day at the park and went to pick up some snacks. My BLT was so good! Loved the crispy bacon and the avocado was good. It was thinly sliced and didn't overpower the sandwich. The Turkey and Brie sandwich was also yummy. The grilled cheese was perfect for the toddler. We took it all to go and enjoyed our lunch in the fresh air. We have gotten their soups before. The options are varied and make it difficult to choose. But it's so worth it. Had stopped going here about 3 years ago. At the time the place just became old and stale and honestly a little dirty. Add that to a long history of honestly a rude intrusive staff. We stopped by as we saw new seating outside. To our surprise the place looked great. Clean. More home style than old. We met a different girl this time that explained some of the changes both to the menu and the business in general. We were on our way to Teddy Roosevelt's home at Sagamore Hill, and were hungry. We found Sweet Tomato while driving through Oyster Bay. What a delicious find. My boyfriend and I split the Rosemary panini and the Roosevelt wrap - egg salad on a BLT. Both were great. The mustard on the Rosemary panini makes it - so much flavor. The Roosevelt was stuffed full and also was flavorful. This a small little shop with a chatty cheerful woman behind the counter. Service was speedy - and the food was really good! Popped in with cousins who live on Long Island, for lunch one rainy day. Can't imagine how they might handle a crowd, but we managed to find one small table and 4 chairs. While we stood in line to order, someone left and we put 2 tables together. My turkey, melted brie, walnuts, apple, cranberry chutney panini was excellent! The brie was sliced thinly, but enough to be visible & gently melted, and there were lots of walnut pieces, apple slices, and the chutney - it was delicious all together but you could taste each flavor. My vegetarian split pea soup - my rule of thumb is soup should be hot or cold, never tepid. This was a deeply flavorful cup of good hot soup. Great little mom and pop restaurant offering delicious comfort food with a homestyle country feel. Sweet tomato offers 12 different varieties of soup daily, move over "soup Nazi" you have met your match! The soups are hearty and delicious, I had the luxury of trying the NE clam, broccoli and cheese, Hungarian mushroom and lobster bisque, they were all scrumptious and served with a piece of bread and crackers. The menu boast over 40 different selections of panini wraps and 20 salad combinations. There are also daily specials posted. We ordered the quesidilla chicken wrap which was delicious and savory as the different cheeses melted into a gooey but delicious mess. The fried fish sandwich was the special, the fish was fresh and my only complaint was the ratio of fish to bread was favoring the bread, but the sandwich was delicious. The chicken panini was moist and delicious with fresh avocados and pesto. Self serve Green mountain coffee is offered here and refills are not free. If you need a refill it will cost you a $1. A Great little spot not too far from the Oyster bay LIRR train station. Sweet tomato has a friendly staff and they will bring the food over to you when it's ready. Like a country sit down deli - breakfast consists of eggs, rolls, pancakes, omelettes, etc.. lunch had some fun things to try such as brie with strawberry jam pannini etc. The hash browns are not deli style.. awkward and over greased cubes dark brown.. but the rest was ok.. nice homemade scones and muffins. They use green mountain coffee but not great said my friend. I give this 3 stars for the quiet country little place it is... not pretentious it gets a friendly rating... Really good healthy food. We came here after exploring the nearby park and in need of AC and rest. Small establishment but definitely more of a grab & go type place since it's right off the Oyster Bay LIRR platform. They appear to open early for commuters and they have a coffee station to make things go even faster. We each got a panini. They were both equally delicious and the rosemary bread is incredible. Two paninis and two drinks came to $28 - not too bad for the area it's in. The staff was pleasant, they have an updated register so receipts can be emailed or texted to you, and the menu has something for everyone (they also offer soups, wraps, and some pastries). If I commuted via Oyster Bay this would definitely be my go-to spot. read more

I really wish I lived closer so I could make this my go-to local cafe. I'm a soup person... like sit down and drink soup before eating anything. It makes me so happy that they have over 10 varieties of soup... SOUP HEAVEN~! My bf got a turkey club wrap which was simple but exactly what it should be. The Port wrap had really good marinated portobello and crunchy vegetables which made it a very filling option. My only complaint for that is it gets a little wet from the balsamic vinaigrette- but it is a very yummy wrap nonetheless. They serve chips on the side of their wraps, so I just mopped up the vinaigrette with the chips lol. Like I said, I really wish I lived closer, this must be such a gem to the locals! Recently ordered a lobster quesadilla, a favorite of mine from this place, or rather, used to be. Idk what happened in the years i Haven't been here but its gotten worse. The Quesadilla from years past used to have big chunks of fresh, great tasting lobster. Now its little chopped up sprinkles of sub par lobster. On top of that back then you used to get a nice large side of chips with almost every item. Now i don't get any. When i went back in to ask (kindly) if they still have chips the worker said that chips only come with wraps. I asked for some chips and they gave some so i have to thank them for that but when i came back to the car my sisters wrap didn't have chips so it canceled out. Came here for lunch today and really enjoyed it. The actual spot has a home type feel and is really nice inside. Their menu consists of wraps, salads and more. I went with the Cali wrap which had chicken lettuce and of course avocado. The quality of the food was great, amazing taste, cooked to perfection. I just didn't like the few chips they gave. Don't get me wrong, they don't have to give chips but when I saw I received some I was disappointed by the little amount. I am addicted to their Breakfast Power Bowl, i have had it 2x now in 2 weeks, and feel like i could literally eat it every day. Its alot for a small bowl, meaning the amount of ingredients, so I literally can eat it through the morning into lunchtime. Every ingredient in the bowl tastes like a new experience, and I love the combo of it, adding the egg, is just this additional bonus of WOW. I think the owner, is who serves me in the morning, but she seems really great and super friendly. If this place were open a little earlier, I'd be here every day, but I drop my daughter off usually by 8:15 and its just before she opens. I wanted to order ahead for my fiance to catch his train to the city, but he has to get on a 8:14!! That's my only complaint (and its not even a complaint as its her right to open when it makes the most sense for her business!) but OTHERWISE, I know i will just have to go in for lunch at some point, because she displays these soups and I want to try EACH and every one of them. This cute mom and pop shop is a place I have been going to for years now and now I have finally gotten around to writing a review for it. Let me just start by saying that throughout the years this place as been consistently excellent. The people are very welcoming and helpful in helping you pick the best soups and sandwiches. The selection of soups is incredible with around 15 different homemade soups on any given day. Additionally, the cafe is extremely charming and homie, and the perfect place to enjoy their food. My most recent visit I ordered a 12 oz tomato bisque and a 12 oz lobster bisque. Both of these soups are incredible and I can never pick a favorite so I always get both of them. The tomato bisque is the perfect combination of sweet and creamy. The lobster bisque is hearty, thick and very filling. My dad had a 16 oz cauliflower soup and was a fan of the kick from the pepper and the delicious garlic flavor. To top of the meal, they brought us a free warm chocolate chip cookie insisting we take it becuase it was fresh from the oven. The cookie was warm, with a gooey center and just a little bit of crunch on the outside. This place is a must try in Oyster Bay, whether it is a cold winter day, or a hot summer afternoon. The only drawbacks are that it is small with not a lot of seating, all though I have never had trouble finding somewhere to sit, and the prices for the soup are a little high. Food was great! I would have liked it better if the prices were posted and if it was a little cleaner. I had to clean crumbs off the table we were going to sit at. There was a girl employee leaning on the counter talking to the girls behind the counter.... as one of my old bosses used to say: A chance to lean is a chance to clean! I will go there again.
