Her cart is at the Manassas Farmer's Market on Saturdays and is rapidly becoming a regular stop. My favorite is the ice cream sandwiches, which are two cookies around an ice cream center. They are frozen cold enough to gradually soften in your hand as you nibble on them, but will not instantly start to melt in the summer sun. I long to try the Fruit Loops and Cocoa Crispies flavors. Somehow I cannot get past the simple, delicious chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream sandwich.

There is so much more than just tulip picking. My kids had such a blast enjoying the tulip-themed playground on site and the food trucks. There is also drink stands set up including non-alcoholic beverages along with beer and a cocktail tent. The service is efficient. They've clearly done this before and it's mostly staffed by friendly high school students. We were allowed to pick 5 tulips each, so for the four of us, we had 20 tulips. Upon leaving, staff will wrap up the tulips to ensure you picked the right amount. You can pick more but pay per stem. The young woman who helped wrap our flowers was very kind to our kids. She even helped them count all the flowers and papers, which was very sweet. It was a really fun day out. It sells out quickly, so advanced tickets are necessary.

Admission for adults is $21, and what that gets you is essentially a tractor ride and the chance to pick five tulips. Beyond that, almost everything on the property is geared toward kids. Calling it a "spring festival" feels like a stretch -- there are no vendor tents, no adult-focused activities, and the only shopping option is their small farm store. They did have a few food trucks, but that was about it. For an event marketed as a festival, I expected more variety and more value for the price. Honestly, with how much of the experience is designed for children, I strongly feel kids' tickets should cost more than adult tickets, not the other way around. If Burnside Farms added vendor booths, adult-friendly activities, or anything else to make the experience feel more like a true festival, the $21 entry fee might make more sense. The owner is from Colombia, and there's a beautiful portrait in the shop representing coffee from her family's farms, which adds such a personal and meaningful touch. Some food was brought to us, some sat out on the counter forever (because the buzzers don't work) where other customers picked up their orders. Who knows how much spit ended up on the food! We kept munching and kept thinking something is missing. We looked under the bread and didn't see what was stated on the menu so we finally asked and were told they were out of what we ordered. Absolutely unacceptable but useless at this point after waiting 20+ minutes for sandwiches and beverages and being faced by someone extremely unapologetic and unmotivated to correct the situation. So, prices definitely not worth what you get here. Hit or miss in terms of food and beverages for both quality and taste. Disappointing that the coffee was so sour and bitter tasting. Hoping for a nice smooth cup. Everything we ordered and customer service received here...unreliable at best. Worth the drive? Nope. If in the immediate area and needing caffeine, maybe, but definitely not worth going out of your way. Parking tight on the weekends. Was so hoping to love this place because we need more independent warm, cozy, welcoming coffeehouses. But service, food, coffee at this point were all very disappointing.
