Tiny cafe at the corner of the INOVA building. It's a narrow corridor with few seats indoors and a couple outdoor tables. I stumbled upon this as we tried to find new brunch places in our area - it's less than a 5 min drive from home and we can bring our fur babies. It's actually a bit too cold now to be outside but I did notice they have ceiling furnaces so hopefully they'll turn those on soon. The food is fresh and tastes homemade. Some of their things seem to sell out which is understandable at its small size. Their coffee is delicious and the staff have been pleasant to deal with. Their bakery items are so good! I ask them to heat it up and they happily obliged. I always get their low carb feta Turkey avocado wrap and it's never failed to fill me up. The simple cheese panini also seems to be my mom's go to now- she loves how "clean" everything tastes. I have to agree! I'll be back to try their other items.

Decided to final stop by after my appointment

The Cinnabon was so damn good, I plan on trying the one with pecans next. And the breakfast burrito was hot and filling. I left my appointment and was starving and wanted a quick bite before a ventured on with my journey. This spot did the job. However, I would have like a warm greeting and acknowledgement when I walked in as it was not busy. The place is super cute and I wish the mood of the employees lived up to the hype if the ambiance.

"Not your average Lemon Bar." Very lemony. Warning: it will scorch the lining in your mouth.

They serve Illy coffee. Very mild roast. If you prefer dark roast this is not your option. Large cup $4. Good selection of baked goods including breakfast burritos. Free parking in the lot.

    Black Forest cake- amazing.

The best pastries in McLean. Just love Sweetbites. Their cakes are so delicious. They bake all of our family birthday cakes!!

Can't count on fingers and toes how many mouthwatering pastries I've had (veggie quiches, pumpkin whoopie pies, fruit tart, foccacia bread, chocolate chip scones, chocolate chip cookies, brookie, keylime pie, toffee pudding, strawberry cream cake, S'mores brownie, peanut butter brownie, gluten-free brownie, and a dozen different types of cupcakes...nom nom nom!)! The unique selection of sweet and savory treats is impressive and always keeps me guessing! There's always so much to choose to from and the daily selection is always different. My favorite sweet treats: tangy Key Lime Pie, Pina Colada Cupcakes, scrumptious Chocolate Chip Cookie, slice of heaven strawberry cream cake, moist lemon poppy seed bread, decadent S'mores brownie and Peanut butter brownie, and best of all Brookie (brownie + cookie). The pastries are fresh, moist, and truly a sweet bite! The only things that I wouldn't recommend is the dry and stale quiches, focaccia bread, and vanilla, chocolate, and cookie dough cupcakes. As cupcakes were the bread and butter of the Sweetbites food truck, they are a side piece at the bakery and nice to see the shop expand with a variety of sweet and savory pastries, breakfast burritos, and sandwiches. The cafe is now open on Saturdays too (8am - 3pm), excited to bring my hubby! Sandra, the owner, is passionate and just as sweet as her decadent baked goods. So glad she opened up this cute cafe in McLean right near me! Tucked inside Inova medical building, Sweetbites is truly a hidden gem with lots of sweet bites to offer!

This a small cafe with a lot of baked goods! The selection is wide consisting from strawberry tarts to quiches to croissants and cookies. The chocolate chip scone is pretty good, tasting like a chocolate chip cookie with the texture of a biscuit.. the strawberry scone is my favorite but it's maybe a once a week occurrence on the menu! A slight strawberry flavor with a crumbly texture ~so gooood. I wish they had fruit flavored scones more often tho :/ I came here for lunch with a friend and we both got pesto paninis which were crispy but a little too salty for me. The workers were really friendly here and the cafe smells so goood because of all the baking happening.

SWEETBITES a great place to pick up lunch or an afternoon coffee, and even open on holidays!!!!! Thank you to the friendly staff.

Even during COVID this place is great! And the bakery smell fills the whole first floor of the building, wonderful.

Turkey and Brie sandwich with apples and avocado! AMAZING!!!!

Adorable place. Excellent food. Great service! Everything is homemade and delicious! Will definitely be back!! Thanks for the amazing food!

There's some parking available right outside, and despite living in McLean for several years, I hadn't realized there's actually a food hall in the building. That alone makes it a decent option for teleworking or a casual stop. As for the food--it reminded me quite a bit of Paris Baguette. Cakes seemed slightly more expensive, while pastries were more in line price-wise. I tried a jalapeño cheese croissant, a garlic butter bun, spinach egg bites, and a tiramisu iced coffee. The croissant was just okay, but the garlic butter bun stood out--nicely balanced between salty and sweet, and definitely the highlight. The egg bites were comparable to Starbucks; honestly, it's hard to say which is better, but Starbucks might have the edge in both portion size and price. The tiramisu iced coffee leaned too sweet--my partner especially felt it was a bit overdone. Ambiance was pleasant, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Would I come back? Probably to try the cakes. Otherwise, it's not a place I'd rush back to--but still worth checking out once.

While I was on travel my colleague purchased a cake from L'Atelier and today we served it at an event. The cake itself was custom decorated including printed logos (this was a corporate event after all). I assume the printing was done on fondant, but I'm not positive. Fondant can be controversial, and if it was fondant it was definitely not an egregious amount. The presentation was exquisite; on it's own serving platter protected by a crystal clear plastic square box - NOT a clamshell - that was then secured with an elegant ribbon. It was presented almost as one would a piece of jewelry. It was accompanied with a lovely fold-out sharing some inspirational background of Founder and Chef Marie Axelle. Exceptional presentation. Now, the cake itself ? PHENOMENAL. I have enjoyed my fair share of cake in my life - this is immediately evident upon meeting me in person. In fact, my own mother used to make custom cakes when I was younger, and I have constant access to extremely high quality cuisine including yes more deserts than I really should consume. Presentation is one thing, but if the food doesn't back it up then it's just pretense and not real quality. This cake 100% backed up the presentation ! It was surprisingly moist, making me wonder if perhaps pudding was mixed in, and the icing was just perfectly sweet enough - not overly sweet. We had a large group of people enjoying this cake, with many comments on how good the cake was, and grown adults taking slices home. That's when you know it's good :) My hat is off to Ms. Axelle, and the fine cake she presented that made an important day even more special. Thank you L'Atelier for your support, and proud to support you. Sadly because this was as private event I can't include pictures ... you'll just have to order your own !

That's the level of consistency and quality he brings every time. Great customer service is one thing, but consistently making drinks this good is a skill. This barista is a huge asset to the business, and honestly, he deserves a raise. Employees who make customers want to come back again and again are hard to find, and he's definitely one of them. All of the fillings with the donuts and croissants are whipped and pretty light. There's a parking garage next door and you can get parking validated for 1 hour. Since we were back in the area for a DMV for a brief visit we knew exactly where we were stopping before heading to the airport. Hubs ordered his usual sausage, egg and cheese sandwich , and I ordered the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich along with an iced mocha. I had completely forgotten they have a Starbucks on-site with a limited menu. Of course, I couldn't leave without grabbing a cookie and a chocolate croissant for later. The food arrived fresh, hot, and exactly as expected. The staff is always friendly and personable. You see professionals, students and the locals coming in and out, but there is seating available. Conversations are at a minimum and despite the attached restaurant you can still hear yourself and the other person without yelling. One thing I appreciate about Best Buns is the consistency. Whether it's been months or years between visits, the quality never seems to change. The sandwiches are flavorful, the ingredients taste fresh, and nothing feels like it was sitting around waiting to be reheated. Everything is prepared to order, and you can taste the difference. My sandwich disappeared one bite at a time, and Hubs completely demolished his croissant sandwich without hesitation. That's usually all the confirmation I need. Some restaurants are good. Some are memorable, but there are the places that become part of your routine whenever you're back in town. Best Buns has earned that status for us. Five stars earned! Consistently fresh.
