Some were, some weren't. But fortunately, Big Daddy's were! And to prove it, there was one helluva healthy line of customers waiting to get their frozen fix in a cup or a cone. They have around 50 ice cream flavors, plus some sorbets, sherberts, and yogurts. We were so intrigued by one of their flavors that we both ordered it. I mean, c'mon, when have you ever seen Banana Chocolate Chip on a menu? It was excellent. Smooth and creamy with a definite banana flavor and plenty of chocolate chips. A Kiddie portion was a pricey $6.95, but in all fairness, that Kiddie portion was equal in size to some of the "small" scoops we've had over the years at various ice cream joints. Big Daddy has four locations in the Wells, Ogunquit, and Kennebunkport area, so if you're up this way during the summer, you won't be too far from experiencing an experience with Big Daddy!

Their offerings aren't as big as other ice cream shops in the area, but they are of decent quality. I came here primarily because a short time earlier, I ate at "The Crab Shack" around the block and over a small bridge in Kennebunk. They provided me with a "buy one single scoop cone, get one free". So being the frugal foodie I am, decided to capitalize on the 2 for 1 deal. Not sure if it's worth paying full price for.....but the "deal" certainly made it palatable. Everything in the area is overpriced because it's an extremely touristy area that relies heavily on summer business. But the young gentleman behind the counter was very pleasant and a hard worker, so I recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area and in mood for some ice cream.

You should note that they serve Gifford's ice cream, which is local to Maine. The staff was friendly and the service was very quick. But the strawberry rhubarb pie - OMG- was out of this world! It came ready to bake, so when we took it out of the oven, it was hot, the crust was flaky and crispy, and the strawberry rhubarb filling was heaven! Especially when served up with some local homemade French vanilla ice cream. I wish I had taken a picture, but we were too busy devouring it! This pie is literally summer on a plate. The Elderflower Buttermilk cakes look so good, too!
