Great parking. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Comfortable, large booths. I was happy to find I could order breakfast all day. Zach was our server. He was terrific. Anthony the manager came over to say "hi" and thanked us for coming. The coffee is Peet's and excellent. My breakfast was perfect, especially my poached eggs, not too firm and not too runny. Even though we were right next to a competitor, we were rewarded to the best bagels in town, Bagels and Brew. It was crowded but worth the wait. My wife had her tried and true, plain Bagel, lightly toasted, with Lox Spread. I tried the Western Breakfast on an everything Bagel. Thank you, Bagels and Brew for bringing authentic Bagels to Sarasota.

Then I see over and a dish bin near the wall that they want us to bust our own dishes as well. So you have to order the counter and then you have to come to the counter to get your coffee and then they want you to bust your table. And their hospital hospitality from 0 to 10 is pretty much zero. Somebody called him he answers how can I help you and then he hangs up on them and then he bitches at the counter Woman that people are trying to call you and tell you you qualify for something and I don't need anything and I just want people to leave me alone. And he says this out loud in the room, so everybody can hear it. This man is clueless. On the way out, the counter Woman asked me how my food was. And she had a warm heart about it. I could tell by the light in her eyes and her tone of voice that she really wanted to know, and that she was coming from her heart. I said well, it was OK. It wasn't great. It wasn't horrible. In addition to caffeinated beverages and bakery items, they have an impressive menu of sandwiches and lunch items. We kept things simple by ordering an iced cafe mocha, a dark roast coffee, and a chocolate croissant. You can tell they use high quality ingredients since the iced cafe mocha had chocolate flakes in them, but somehow managed to accent the beverage perfectly without making it too sweet. The chocolate croissant tasted absolutely delicious and had a wonderful chocolate filling inside unlike most traditional recipes...we both agreed it was great and tasty. The owner mentioned she gets her croissants from Europe and does the filling and final baking on premises to serve it hot. I'm not aware of any bakeries that go to all that trouble, but it makes for a high quality product. All in all, an excellent coffee and pastry experience at By The Bay Bistro...it's a place I hope to return to and would recommend to others visiting the Venice, Florida area.

I prefer a hearty lunch and Buddy's is far better than any fast food or sandwich shop in Sarasota County, and I've been everywhere. Buddy's is authentic, clean, efficient and delicious. Any reviews here less than 5 stars is not a serious bagel customer. I just ordered a dozen bagel sandwiches for my family pool party; they do catering also. Highly recommended by me....
