I was so surprised by this place! we ordered lunch for work and my food was so good even after waiting until I had time to eat it. I got the spicy chicken bowl and it was still crispy. the spicy pineapple was amazing! the fresh salad was a nice balance for the spicy sauce. i would love to come back!

Ordered via doordash. So tasty, large portions and took the guesswork out of me figuring out a healthy meal. Great

I ordered two Korean chicken bowls here since there was a BOGO offer on Uber Eats but I was so disappointed with the quality of the food. Luckily we got the by one get one free offer because I wouldn't pay this much for such a tiny bowl. The pictures in some reviews look like there was a lot given, so I wondered if we were purposely given less because this was an uber eats order that had a bogo offer. I literally ate both bowls in one sitting. The food looked pretty well presented when we got it, but once we pushed aside the toppings, there was barely any rice there. The caramelized onions were extremely mushy and gross, so we threw them out. The citrus marinated kale was literally just regular kale and had no flavor. The chicken was very crunchy on the outside and the coating had some flavor, but was very dry on the inside without much flavor.

Moonbowls is Korean cuisine in delicious food bowls! Moonbowls has opened a ghost kitchen in the Longfellow Food Pickup in North Oakland. It's menu offers appetizers, bowls, desserts and drinks. On a Tuesday evening, I ordered a Chicken and Egg Bowl, with sesame tofu, green onions and seaweed added. My base of choice was brown rice. Okay, usually when I order a food bowl, the "base" is over 50% of the bowl. So in this case, I was expecting a big bowl of brown rice with the toppings covering it. Not so at Moonbowls! The food bowl was mainly the mixture of food I asked for, and the brown rice was hard to find. I had to stir it up to find the rice. The Chicken and Eggs Bowl is just that.....diced moist chicken and a fried egg on top. All kinds of good stuff like...."charred peppers, cucumber slaw, caramelized onions, a fried egg, fresh arugula, basil, green onions, sesame seeds, our sweet Korean BBQ sauce, and a side of gochujang sauce." However, it's not a huge bowl of food, but it's good healthy food. Especially if you're watching your carbs. Their website says "they're taking a fresh approach to Korean cuisine thru chef driven food bowls using high quality ingredients and bold flavors." Yes, Moonbowls does all that. Would I order again? Yes, if I'm in the area. Located at the Longfellow Food Pickup, which is a Cloud Kitchens facility. I used the Doordash app for a food pickup. Food was ready in 15 mins. Simply walk in the lobby, tell them your name and the restaurant, and they hand you your order. You save $$$ by picking up your order, and you know that food will be hot & fresh when you get it. Enjoy, and Support Local Business!

TL;DR - good portion, poor quality food. See pic for burnt corn. Ordered from here since I was looking for something light & healthy, and saw the BOGO on Uber eats. Saw the bad reviews on both Yelp and Google... but decided to give it a try since I liked the idea of this place being a healthier version of Chipotle. I ordered: sweet chicken kimchi, and Korean hot chicken. Portions were large! As you can see from the photo. The bowls were fill to the lid. The sauce on the sweet chicken kimchi was not to my liking. Too sweet and watery. the chicken was very dry. The rest of the bowl tasted fine tho. Now the really sad part.... The corn in the Korean hit chicken bowl. The corn was so burnt it was BLACK. Practically pieces of cancer. On a bed of kale, I didn't notice at first and took a bite. Had to rush to the sink and spent the next 10 minutes rinsing out the charcoal taste in my mouth. I cannot believe someone would let food burn to this state, much less scooped it up and put in a bowl. It effectively ruined the entire dish and made it inedible. Even after throwing out a good portion where the corn was, the burnt charcoal taste was still in the rest of the food. Really really poor quality control. I hate wasting food, but I had to toss the entire bowl. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're just looking to take advantage of the Ubereats offer.

I came here on a really rainy day and this was the perfect place for warm, hearty soup. My boyfriend and I ordered the beef short rib soup and the garlic pork wraps. The portions were massive! We were basically able to make this 2.5 meals and we're both pretty big eaters. The soup was so flavorful despite being light, and the short ribs had a good chew without being too stringy. The garlic pork wraps were also delicious. I ended up ordering the soup again a few days later when I had a stomachache! I'll definitely be back here sometime in the near future.

We went with the $47.99 Medium Pork Bone Casserole which served two hearty appetites (Photo 7). It consisted of a mammoth, meaty pork rib mixed with cabbage, potato, and sesame leaf in a flavorful soybean pork broth. For even more calories, we also requested the $3.99 Ramen Noodles (Photo 5). Movie posters are splattered on the walls decorated with vinyl records and the like. Overall, such a cute hole in the wall late night spot. For the record, I eat mostly pescatarian/vegetarian diet. So their menu isn't really catered to that so much minus a couple things here and there, but I managed to order the tofu bibimbap (and a couple bottles of soju). My friend ordered french fries and spicy korean fried chicken. The server that took our order was so kind, thank you for being attentive :) Wasn't able to catch their name, but we really appreciated the service. Overall, food was delicious and we left feeling full. Also the place is super vibey!

Every time I visited over the years, there seems to be an entirely new rotation of staff, yet they all share the same customer service issues. The workers look like they don't want to be there (I get it, it's work), and that disinterest shows a bit more than it should, draining the energy from the room. The food mirrors this inconsistency. We frequently stick to what we consider safe items like the porno fries, spicy fried chicken, and spicy rice cake. However, during our last visit, we decided to try the seafood pancake, the Bulgogi burger, and our usual corn cheese. Somehow, all three dishes were a disappointment. The seafood pancake was dense and doughy, while the Bulgogi burger was a bit of a soggy mess. Even the corn cheese, the coveted item that used to keep us coming back, missed the mark. It was pooling oil that left a greasy mouthfeel. While the ambiance remains nice, the kitchen simply underperforms on too many of its dishes now. With all of the new Korean restaurants and pochas popping up in the area, there are far better options available. Sadly, nostalgia isn't enough to justify coming back when the food and service continue to slip.

A sign on the restaurant also reminds diners of this risk. Saw two nearly naked men sunning and lieing on the pavement while driving around looking for parking. Try to park on busy and visible Telegraph vs a side street. PCTH has a modern vibe with very solid wood tables and benches. The restaurant gets noisy even when half full near the end of a Friday lunch hour. We ordered two of the lunch specials and an Appetizer of Soy and Garlic Fried Chicken (1/2 order of 10 pieces composed of wings and drums). The chicken was very good with a nice crispy exterior and coating of S&G. The two lunch specials - Mushroom Beef Soon Tofu Soup and Spicy Pork Box Lunch were not spicy as what we're used to, a medium on the soup - get spicy if you want more flavor, while Spicy Pork was more sweet than spicy. But still good for their version of spicy pork. The soup also comes with a whole pot of crisped rice for soup dipping / soaking. A nice addition. As for Banchan, nothing spectacular that wowed us. Pyeong Chang is another nice addition to the competitive Korean restaurant area in Oakland's Temescal region, just not the safest of area when it comes to parking your car. A friend saw the restaurant on YT so be weary of media hype and make your own judgment. There are many good Korean restaurants in the area and this just happens to be one of the newer hipper ones.
