I got my wedding cake done by the Sweet Spot in 2010 and had the best experience with whom I believe is the owner. She was super sweet and talented. I stopped in a few times after that to get cupcakes and my impression of the place slowly started to decline. The last couple times I have gone in there for gelato, the customer service has been horrendous. The girls have been rude and act like they are being inconvenienced. It's fun that sweetspot does so many different theme nights and events. My favorite has been ramen bowl night, and they were very accommodating to me with my corn sensitivity, and they told me accurately what was in the food. The ice creams and desserts are high priced.. it is hard to justify spending that much again. Also all of the desserts have corn which I found out the hard way. Last year for our daughters birthday we tried to order special birthdays cupcakes an the entire order was designed WRONG and considering it's been a year an we do enjoy the cupcakes when made "as ordered" however they can't make Halloween cupcakes for our TK kindergarten party. It has a kiddie play/romp area w toys in the brightly lighted coffe shop side, and a dimly lighted chill zone with soft Indie music on the wine/beer bar side. In the past I have ordered pink champagne cupcakes and was told that there would be an extra charge just for the pink food coloring dye that is put into the cupcakes. Obviously I declined the charge. However, they are way to over priced. A kids scoop of gelato (about the size of a half of an adult's 1 scoop) is $4-$5. WAY TOO OVER PRICED! I do not understand why people actually pay this price. The gelato is amazing, but a few other things didn't stack up for me. The seasonal pumpkin gelato is divine, not too sweet but just the right balance of flavor and texture. They let you try out different flavors and they are all delicous, I mean, amazingly delicious. You come in a place like this and find something like that, boom: 5 stars right there. But there is so much more to the Sweetspot surprisingy, and as I discovered, more they need to learn. The new wine and beer area is really cool: a great place to meet up for a casual date and grab a quick bite and share a glass. The day we went it was 5 dollar pizza day (Sunday!). The barbeque chicken should have been called buffalo chicken, becasue they just poured a ton of buffalo wing sauce on some chicken and cheese and called it good. I thought it was rather disgusting. My friend got the gorgonzola apple pizza, and that was actually pretty good, not over-hyped but just the right balance of flavor on a delicate crust. We sat at the bar for like 10 minutes before someone came over to pour us a glass,but luckily for them we were having such a great conversation it didn't matter, and it was well worth the wait because we discovered a great Napa brand (Hoyt) that wasn't overpriced at $8 a glass and quite delicious. So could have been better, could have been worse, but I left satisfied and feeling not ripped off, and that's all you can really ask for. read more

I have been to sweet spot multiple times and it is generally okay. Most of the gelato flavors today had liquid in the container which was not appetizing. Also some of their cupcakes give off an artificial taste. On the other side, some cupcakes are pretty tasty. They talked up this cupcake saying 9/10 people love this cupcake. But the actual cupcake was dry, and the topping (buttercream) tasted as if I took a big bite of butter. The chocolate cupcake was nice and moist and it had a chocolate ganache topping which was very good and chocolate buttercream on top. I also got the red velvet cheesecake. Very disappointed with my first trip to sweet spot. After craving a cupcake, I stopped in and immediately regretted it. The selection was absolutely terrible and they had a total of 3 cupcake flavors. I ordered the diva flavor whatever that means (a description would have been nice.)The cupcake itself looks like a 5 year old frosted and baked it. All of their cupcakes seemed to have minimal frosting, which made them very unappealing. The cupcake itself was moist in the center which is okay I guess but I will never return here. This place is amazing! I love it so much! I had the lemon cheesecake and it was rich and velvety and smooth and creamy and it was so good I bought it twice. I also ordered a little lunch and I got the BLT and it was sooo good as well. The bacon was stacked up to the roof and it was on a bed of lettuce that was great as well as an awesome croissant that was flaky and buttery and just melted in your mouth!
