My sister and I stopped by Merit so I can try and rate the cortado for my silly little cortado review series. I also ordered the Purple Haze Latte and a poptart (courtesy of Bakery Lorraine). The cortado was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because normally Merit's coffee is too fruity (and a bit funky) for me, but this was bold and right and made my ears tingle. Nice and creamy, and not watery. A very top notch standard cortado. The purple haze tasted like relaxing on the beach. It even had little bits of dried ube on top, like a little purple sandy beach. I'm pretty glad Merit's making me re-think their beans. That cortado is something I still think about, even though it's been about a month since my visit.

The Pandan takes me back to so cal 1000% and I love that they have it here in San Antonio for me to get a taste of home! Pandan is often described as the "vanilla of Southeast Asia" with a fragrant, mildly sweet taste, featuring strong notes of coconut, vanilla, and toasted almond. I chose Spanish Romance decaf, sub with coconut milk. Absolutely delicious! Not too sweet and loved the chocolate, hazelnut, and coconut notes. Yelp steered me right and brought me here on a Thursday morning. Walking in I wasn't sure if this was only a coffee/tea spot or if they sold cocktails and beers too. The bar area and decor lends itself to look like an old bar and it has great vibes! No beer or cocktails here but they do have a seemingly delicious menu! We didn't eat anything while we were here because we had breakfast prior to coming in. The menu had an array of offerings and sandwiches that I could see myself coming back and trying in the future. I ordered a Mexican Mocha and my mom had a cold brew. Service was fast and friendly. We found a nice spot close to the windows and I was able to look around at all the relics around and displayed at the front entrance. After we got our drinks, one of the owners or managers, walked around offering delicious slices of lemon frost cake. I was so appreciative that this just made our delicious coffee even better! I saw many students and other folks reading and studying while we were here. The atmosphere lends itself to do so too as it is chill, quiet, and quaint. I will definitely be back again. This spot was super unique and I really love their smart branding and logos/brand identity.

Although my meeting was moved to another location shortly after I arrived, I enjoyed the environment and look forward to spending more time here on a future visit. I do wish they used smaller ice cubes so the drink would last just a tiny bit longer. I also tried their chocolate croissant. Good, but would've been better warmed up! I don't remember if they offered that. My friend had the matcha and she loved it. They recently got a new matcha and she was worried because she loved the other one but was pleasantly surprised how smooth and delicious this one was as well. The coffee is just ridiculously good. The flavors are so good and incomparable to other coffee shops everything tastes so fresh and rich. The stores are always so cozy and inviting on the inside. Amazing vibes for studying or just taking a time to get away. A great third place. On top of all this the staff is always absolutely kind and work quickly, effectively, and consistently. 10/10 I hope everyone can experience this place in their life time.
