Scott did an initial estimate and, though it wasn't the cheapest, it wasn't the most expensive, either. He told me what to expect and gave me a manageable time table for completing the work. From demo to final touchups, the experience was a good one. Scott and his team did exactly what they said they would do and then some... all for a fair price. There was no nickel and dining me for extra materials or time... and Scott has a pleasant attitude and a commitment to make sure everything with a project is taken care of thoroughly. There were certainly a couple of bumps along the way with our project, but SWG Plumbing made sure everything was right in the end. Scott made extra trips to our residence to follow up and showed he really cares about his customers. This is now my definite go-to plumbing company and I highly recommend them. Found Scott from Nextdoor recommendation. Knowledge-wise he's appears to be spot on. Clean and respectful. However I'm giving 1 star for the lack of ethics in this transaction...many hidden and dishonest fees. I was going to let it go but I felt that I wouldn't be doing justice for others so I decided to write this review so others can be fully aware before engaging Scott. The job at our house was simple--- replace shower faucet cartridge from two bathrooms--- exact same faucet brands and types. Day 1, Scott came to see what type of cartridge it requires--- spent less than 15 mins here. Said he'd come back next day to replace and would charge 125/hr (special Placentia discount) and verbally confirmed that the job should require no more than that amount. Day 2 came back with the parts from Home Depot and completed the replacement. From start to finish (including taking 15 minutes to write up the invoice) he was here for 1 hour. Here's what he charged us: 1) 2.5 hours of work 2) $58 for mileage and travel (our home is 1 mile from his office) 3) overcharged cartridge -- $25 at Home Depot but he wrote down $30 then added another 20% markup. Couldn't show me the Home Depot receipts. 4) $3 for an Allen screw I balked, of course and asked how was he here for 2.5 hours when he was clearly only here at the house for no more than 1 hour 15 minutes from day 1 and day 2. His response was that he had to put in travel time. His "office" is .5 mile away, by the way. We are both in Placentia. :). But wait.... he was already charging me $30 for mileage and travel... hmmmm. Double/triple dipping??? He then brought down his labor hours from 2.5 to 2 hours and then brought down travel cost to 29....which is still way overs!!! We just let it go cuz it was getting late. Word of advice to you all looking for good and honest plumbers. Be wary of hidden costs--- make sure those items mentioned above are fully disclosed before you allow a plumber to work on your house. I should've been more keen but I let my guards down... not knowing he was going to charge travel time on top of labor!!! Also... always ask for receipts if you are not going with a per job flat rate plumber. So... in summary...the total cost from Scott to replace two shower faucet cartridges that took less than 1 hour of actual labor to replace costed us $346.75. My plumber friend who was out of town --- reason why I had to call a plumber in the first place... laughed at me over text and said I got ripped off. But thank you Scott, for replacing my cartridges. If you had fully disclosed how you charge and was HONEST in calculating your actual, true labor hours and material costs I would've given you 5 stars. read more

I hired SWG to put a new gas line to my barbecue. I signed an invoice for X amount of dollars and I paid the invoice. This guy showed up out of the blue saying he was gonna stop by my house and rip out the gas line. He sent me this invoice which had no signature on it for one and a half times what I owed. I specifically signed the first work order, this work order recently had no signature. I told him if he contacted me again I would call the police. This guy Scott is a loose cannon and he's dishonest. I just got another email. It seems that when this guy runs low on work, he has a habit of sending out bogus bills to try to get more money. Nice try.. Also the faucet install we're not installed correctly they were loose I had to have another plumber come and fix them. We had contacted the owner and his fees were different than what the guy charged us at the end of the installment. The owner still hasn't contacted back after numerous phone calls and messages. Requested for an estimate and eval of the plumbing in a single family house (Roughly $200 for 1 hr work, added the cost for travel too in this fee), and Christine who is responsible for scheduling kept modifying the date. Once we finalized a date and time, she texted me 1.5 hrs before he was supposed to arrive and told me Scott would not be coming at all that day because he was on call. She then gave me a fixed date and time (which she previously told me was unavailable) but it is difficult to adjust multiple schedules after being cancelled on and unfortunately my group could not accommodate. I have no tolerance for flakey schedulers and can't trust that they wouldn't flake on me again. Heard great things about Scott, just too bad it is so difficult to schedule with Christine and keep an appointment, couldn't even get past the gate. Suggest he replace with someone who can better schedule in a more reliable way with clients. Will find a more reliable alternative. read more

I recently posted on our local Facebook page that we needed a good, old school, independent plumber. Several people recommended SWG Plumbing so I sent out an S.O.S. to the owner Scott and he called me 10 minutes later. After a quick discussion about my problem, he assured me SWG could take care of us and would be at our home at 7:20 the next morning. Well, at 7:20the next morning, I felt like the cavalry showed up! 3 trucks pulled up ready, willing and able to take care of our slab leak. Scott, Bob, Billy and Sean came in ready to work and work they did. Fast, clean and worked without a break for 5 hours. Removing and reinstalling our toilet and vanity, doing minimal damage to our walls and leaving almost no mess in their wake. All this at a very reasonable cost for such an urgent repair. We ready a lot of Yelp reviews when looking for services and sometimes the reviews look to good to be true. But once in awhile you find a contractor who deserves a great review like SWG. I was very disheartened with this business. They were not only extremely overpriced but also quite unreasonable with their service and very sneaky with their pricing. I was forced to hire another plumber to fix SWG's terrible work. Their employees are very disrespectful and rude, specifically the woman secretary or assistant. I had never experienced such embarrassing customer service looking to only gauge their customers and not care about the bad work they were performing. After noticing a potential slab leak, I contacted Scott at SWG Plumbing to have them come take a look at our situation. Scott was much more thorough in his analysis of a solution for our problem than prior plumbers for other slab leaks. For the job, his team showed up a bit early (as opposed to making me wait around) and worked about a 12 hour shift to reroute almost 1/2 of my plumbing using PEX tubing. I appreciated them getting it done in one day. His team was extremely polite, diligent and cleaned up all of their "mess." Minimal holes were created to reduce the "post-plumbing" repairs to our walls. They even connected us with a drywall person for when our final aesthetic repairs are done. Be careful!! this guys is a rip off, My Kohler digital shower steam was not working so I called SWG plumbing, the lady said Scott charges $170 an hour, then Scott came and just reset the breaker and charged me $650 for literally one hour job, I asked why its $650, he said he needs to add his driving time come to my home and his time to call Kohler how to fix it, when I called to schedule appointment I specifically asked if Scott has knowledge about the Kohler digital shower, the lady said yes, but he needs to call Kohler and charged me his time for calling, and after he reset the breaker, we both checked the panel still not working, he don't even know he needs to reset the panel which I did myself, and after 2 weeks later the steamer is not working again, so I called the office, the lady said she will pass the message to Scott, but he never call back, so I texted him, he said its not his problem, its manufacturer issue has nothing to do with him. he is the worst plumber I ever used before. not responsible for his work and refused to come back. will never use him again. will never recommend him. Now I called Kohler manufacture certified plumber, they charged $250 only. Its really a rip off by SWG plumbing. the most expensive plumber ever. read more

Our water heater leaked and damaged the platform. SWG came and was able to replace the water heater on a Friday afternoon. I was out of town on the weekend while the family was home. They even temporarily hooked up the new water heater so I could get the platform fixed before installing the new one and came back later to re-install. I work with a lot of contractors. The two things I look for is if they are fair and trustworthy. SWG is that kind of company. You get the straight story and Scott works with you to get the problem fixed. read more

Got referred to Scott by my neighbor. I told him we had another roto rooter type company come out to check out our plugged toilet. And that they couldn't get it to unplug or flush. They wanted over $500 to take the toilet off and asses the problem. We kindly asked them to leave and paid their $95 service fee. Had Scott come over at 7:00pm on a Monday night. He brought in a big poll in and in minutes had the toilet flushing normally. He didn't even want to charge me, but I insisted.
