It's so delightful to speak of Lenny Krayzelburg's Swim School. The distance I travel with my 11 y/old daughter for her lessons is over 20 miles, but it's only possible due Brandon's efforts to make it fit into my always tight schedule. He never hesitates to have us fit into most desirable for everyone time of the day, regardless of any schedule complications of his own. Completely unprofessional teachers. Went to trial with my toddler, he end up finishing in tears . I took him out of the water after 5 min. Manager recommended other teacher who supposedly good with toddlers. Same thing happened. Even worse, he just grabbed him and put in the pool without establishing initial contact. We left right away, again he was in tears. My son loves water. We were going to tarzana school but wanted to change because this one is closer. The teachers traumatized my son. They have no idea how to work with toddlers. I paid $300 and requested refund for unused lessons. Of course no one returned money to us. Absolutely unacceptable! Terrible school. I really like the instructors they are very kind and patient but the office staff is not helpful and they don't progress your child very quickly. With classes only 1 time a week and there is very little communication about how to improve. My child was able to do a perfect freestyle but they kept him in a lower level. I think they just want you to keep paying for lessons. read more

Truly shocked at this business: They were totally responsive and lovely when signing us up. Then they sent an instructor who we did not feel comfortable with from a COVID standpoint -- no hard feelings, people have different comfort levels, we'd just like to cancel the remaining sessions. I have sent five emails and three text messages, and called four times, all over the course of a week, in an effort to cancel. None of my messages received responses. In three of the four calls, once I managed to explain I was calling to cancel, they *hung up on me*. I am not kidding. In the fourth call, I left a voicemail that I am sure will not receive a response. I can't even call it poor customer service -- I truly wonder if there's a company here at all. I'm not one to get heated over things like this, but seriously -- avoid. read more

We had a bit of a rocky start at swim right. Our kid was terrified of the water and the first instructor got a little frustrated, but everything changed when we switched teachers to Ms. Amanda! She's a total godsend. Before long, our little one was asking us to go to swim class and having so much fun in the water. Waste of money and time. My son spent months doing the exact same thing... he knows how to swim but they kept wanting him to do back floats. My son regressed in swimming because of their approach. They also canceled sessions that I paid for but gave us "tokens" but once you cancel you can't use your tokens. Should be illegal. Don't waste your money or time here. read more

I've read a bunch of reviews and it seems like there are two constant themes here - front office that could improve and instructors that turn kids over every 15 minutes. I'll address both. We've been coming to this location for over 5 years. We've started out with parent and tot classes and moved to private instructors. Front office personnel, except for Lenny himself, Snezana (sp?), and another gentlemen whose name escapes me now, are somewhat of a work in progress. I do get random calls from them and they can't answer simple questions but this is what management is for. I have not had any major issues that were not resolved. Call me Lucky. Instructors. There's a core of about 4 instructors that have been here 4+ years, some much longer, and there's a revolving cast of people who come and go. I can understand the turnover since work with kids is a hard work and you have to have a certain personality to be a good fit. A lot of people try and fail and this is what truly amounts to the turnover you're seeing. The core group of instructors is simply amazing. They are truly the secret sauce behind Lenny's success with the swim school. Find an instructor that your kid (not you) likes and if it works for your schedule - stick with them. It will benefit your kid/s immensely. Talk to the instructors. Treat them right. Let them do their thing. They are very good. read more

Horrible experience the family changing rooms are moldy the paint is chipped and the changing tables are not often cleaned and I have seen roaches must be because of the humidity. The teachers usually cancel the lessons and they just give us a credit back. The teachers are rude and unprofessional I was asked if I was the nanny of my own child and I said no I'm the mother they proceeded to ask how come she's so white. I asked to speak with a manager but seems like they don't have one because all I was told is I can help you and I asked are you the manager they said I can help you. The academy has been great for my daughter. She has learned how to swim. I like the different levels and how they break every step down. It's the admin policies that need some work. We are now in the pre-team level and they do not allow cancellations (and re-booking) at this level. It makes zero sense since they allow it for the other sessions. Things DO come up so to not be able to cancel (with a timely notice) and rebook is an insane policy. I've asked numerous times and have just been told - that's our policy which is NOT an acceptable answer. So here I am writing a poor review. Also allowing Chris to leave was a HUGE mistake. You have had a LOT of instructor turnover in the last 18 months - even before Covid. So this tells a lot about how you treat your employees. read more

Extremely bad, and horrible business, They kept pulling money from my account after I kids stopped going there until I found down . I called them many times. I asked the bank to help me call them . They Did Not resolve the problems. I work very hard to earn a single penny.. I hope Swim Right academy owner understands this. Do Not Do this to other customers. Terrible service. My child was signed up for a tot and parent class. Whoever I spoke to over the phone signed my child up for an evaluation first. The evaluation consisted of a stranger wanting to take my 10 month old in the water without her father. My fiancé said absolutely not. This is not the fun swim class that was described on their site. At the West hills location he literally had to find someone to help him. No one offered any help on where to go. My fiancé drove 40 mins to get to this school only to be told he had to pay for a private lesson, and couldn't get in the water because that water time was set up for private lessons only. Whoever signed us up for the FREE evaluation, set us up for that time. Such a waste. read more

STOP, what was I thinking, I use Yelp for a reason, I sat on hold over 5 minutes listening to their recording. I then hung up and am calling someone else. Yesterday was my 2 year old's first swim class and I left there very upset with the experience. I had requested an instructor who would be fun and engaging and they recommended Savannah. She greeted us with a smile and the first words out of her mouth were, " I just want to warn you, he's going to cry." Excuse me? And she said that in front of him as if he can't understand her which he can. What a terrible tone to set, and she said it with such confidence like she new best. Other than that, the class started off well and he let her take him into the water and he bravely followed her instructions, pointing to colors, walking etc. Then, in the last few mins of the class she asked him to jump into her arms. I was filming it bc it was his first swim class after all and I wanted my husband to be able to see.. from my vantage point what happened is he got a little water in his nose from the splash. Okay, it happens. But what she did next was a major reveal in why I would never send a small child to her again. He started to cry, naturally, with water in his nose and what did she do? She IGNORED him. She kept going. My son is not an idiot and at 2yrs old was trying to communicate to her and again she ignored him. She took him over to side and started reading a swimming book as if he was going to get distracted and forget that he was in pain without any acknowledgement that he was crying. That trick might work on an infant but how can you ignore a crying child?? This only made it worse and his small cry quickly escalated to real distress and he was screaming to get out of the water. Did she acknowledge him and try to soothe him then? (On his FIRST swim lesson?) no, she told him he needs to kick on the board before he gets out. I told her she needs to talk to him and what did she tell me? "I have a lot of experience." Arrogant for a young girl with clearly no child development knowledge whatsoever. I let it go on for another 20 seconds as I realized she was pushing him harder I literally stopped her and said this is over. Took me a little bit to calm him he was so upset. She quickly apologized realizing I had abruptly ended her lesson but the apology included comments like "I guess I'm kind of strict." Again, excuse me? Suggesting I should try a teacher with more patience. You're teaching a 2yr old, you don't deserve your job if you don't have patience. All she needed to do was acknowledge him and take one moment to try to calm him but she was arrogant and dismissive of him and then spoke to me like an overreactive parent who doesn't know anything about swim lessons. (I come from a family of swimmers) 20 min later, my son threw up. And then again. He threw up four times. So what did I do? I went back and watched the video. He had SWALLOWED WATER in that little jump and splash. She let his mouth drop in the water on his first jump and he swallowed it. Didn't seem like a lot but he did swallow it and got upset. How did she miss that??? And when I think about how he reacted and how she lacked the basic decency to try to soothe him. Swimming is supposed to be fun. Especially for a toddler at their first lesson. Strict??? Are you kidding me. How about arrogant and unsafe and lacking the interpersonal skills I specifically requested for my sweet little boy. I am cautiously optimistic that the other instructors are more mature and have more respect for the children they teach. My feedback to the school is, in addition to the obvious as mentioned above, is a 15 min class enough time to build rapport with a little child? Was she rushing and ignoring him bc she needed to complete her lesson before the next child who came 2 min later? She apologized to me and then started her next lesson. Either way, it doesn't excuse what happened. My son should not have had to have such a terrible experience for his first time in the water and shouldn't be punished for it. I am hopeful the school might suggest a more responsible and personable instructor so that my son can have a positive experience in the water. Experiences like this can really affect a child's feelings about swimming and I want to make sure that doesn't happen bc of one young, inexperienced instructor. I would like to be able to write a glowing review of a more positive experience at this pool. read more

It took me multiple voicemails, emails, to get a reply from Swim Right to schedule a trial lesson. Then when they finally replied, they kept asking me questions I had already answered in the same email thread. They gave me available times, I chose a time and it was confirmed. I showed up and no one had my name or the appointment listed anywhere in their system. I was not happy, to say the least. They did have someone give my child a trial lesson. The instructor was great. However, the office was so disorganized, I didn't feel like I'd have a positive experience there. I decided to go somewhere else. My friend has had a ridiculous experience with their communication issues that it's laughable at this point. They really need to overhaul their administration. We've been going to this swim school for about 3 years already and very happy about it. Our two boys have started the school when they were 2-3 years old. They are progressing and showing good results swimming. Swim instructors are nice and professionals, administrative staff always tries to suggest which instructor is best for your kid; moreover if you choose to change instructor for one or another reason admin staff will always suggest other possibilities. I really like the swim programs ( old and a new one) that instructors follow to teach the kids. Every lesson builds the skills to progress in the next one. Even though we initially started swimming school to make sure our kids just know how to swim, they are ready now to start competition practice. read more

My kids have worked with a range of teachers, and they've been terrific-- caring, patient, fun, aware. I really appreciate the whole feel of the place-- it feels inclusive, open, and knowledgeable. And the 'graduating to a new cap' system is a good incentive too. Very pleased. read more

Great teaching environment and instructors! I tend to work long hours but the office/instructors were extremely flexible. My main instructor, Savannah, was great. She was patience, very thorough and funny. I saw massive improvements since starting the program. She picked up on little mistakes I was making. Lastly, she made swimming fun! But it was all a pretend because I didn't hear back from her even though I emailed her TWICE. They still have my Money and they refused to provide service or refund my money!!! Their policy regarding make up swim lesson once a month only is absolutely ridiculous especially during summer break. The office associates are not willing to give you credit or hold the class if you miss more than one class. Their no refund policy just is not right. They can make changes all the time (I.e. Changing instructors and pool closures) without any advanced agreement. Other businesses are a lot more flexible. I have another complaint today that this is the second time in 2 weeks that that my son's instructor cancelled out on us at the last minute. How come instructors can cancel anytime and customers are not allowed to have time off during summer ? There is only flexibility for your side but not the customers. The instructors are fabulous but the administration is awful. They failed to provide notice that my son's lesson was canceled until after they checked him in (which includes a temp check) he showered and waited. Yet they still charged me for the lesson they canceled without proper notice. I may as well simply flush $45 down the toilet since their " policy " is to offer a make-up token which cannot be used for his regular class but must be used another time, and becomes worthless should you stop paying for full monthly lessons. Multiple complaints resulted in no return call no one would address this unfair business practice. I would find another swim academy. read more

My twins were signed up for lessons at the same time each Sunday. My son was sick one day so we called to tell them that we wouldn't make it. They cancelled the rest of my sons lessons forever. We told them we only called in on that 1 day. Not all the classes. They "fixed" the scheduling problem but the next week we showed up and my son's teacher was double booked so he again got a different teacher. These guys have a very hard time with schedules. Wouldn't recommend them as the kids don't have consistent teachers. My son was supposed to test for the next level but none of the new teachers knew that so he's not progressing and getting he most out of this class. This school seems highly disorganized. read more

My 3 1/2 year old daughter has been going to the LK Swim Academy for over 6 months, and I am very happy with the school and her progress there. The program itself is extremely well organized and effective. The program centers around different competency levels, with a specific set of skills required to pass each. Progress is noted in a book you receive, and your child gets stickers for each skill passed in a given level. Once they complete the current level by filling up all the stickers, your child gets a ribbon to show completion. Each level is designated by different colored swim caps. There are survival tests which the children must pass to complete certain levels. The school's teaching system, combined with fantastic teachers, has worked extremely well for my daughter. She loves getting stickers and filling up her book. It's a great motivational tool for younger kids. We've had two different teachers, in 1-on-1 classes. We switched teachers only because our schedule changed. Both of them have been wonderful with my daughter. Patient, kind and effective. I feel very comfortable with the teachers at the school. The facilities, inside the New Community Jewish High School (formally west valley JCC) are great too. There's some construction going on now, but not in the building with the pool and swim school. The only criticism I have of the school is that they rarely answer the phones. However, when I've left messages they've returned my calls. read more

We've been going to this swim Academy for about six months now and I'm very happy with the progress my son has made during that time. He is eight years old and took swimming classes back when he was five. We started from level two and with every lesson my son gained more and more confidence in the water and is now a pretty good swimmer. I love the fact that if we miss a lesson for any reason it is very easy to schedule a make up class. The office staff is very polite and accommodative and service is very fast. My son really enjoys the Academy's reward system where you get stickers that you stick in the swim book in order to mark your progress after swim lessons. read more
