I'm not sure why this place has a 3.4 star rating (at least as of the time of this review). We thought it was a perfectly good meal and service. I had the Thai basil chicken and my partner had pad Thai. We thought both dishes were tasty and not too greasy or heavy. It was an interesting twist to have a pad Thai with a red hue. The service was helpful as well. The only thing that was off-putting to us was the additional charge for having chicken in the pad Thai. I believe that's normally complementary. read more

Okay--if I could give this place a 3.5 I would just because the food was delicious...but unfortunately everything else was extremely disappointing! There were only 2 servers on a Saturday night and let's just say one of them was extremely slow while the other was picking up the other servers slack. Hubby & I have eaten here or got takeout from here at least 15 times over the past 4+ years. The food is consistently good and the people working there are very nice. We have had almost everything on the menu now. I like their curries (especially the yellow) as well as the pad prick king. Tonight we're getting pad Thai and the special. Swing Thai was my group's restaurant stop before going to a show at The Oriental which is right around the block. This worked out so well! We went on the eve of Christmas Eve and it was pretty calm at Swing Thai. We got a table right away, but it did take awhile before our server came around. It was also so incredibly hot in the back corner too. I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp and I was shocked by how quickly it came out from the kitchen. It was really good, but I think I would've gotten medium instead of mild since it was so mild. I really liked the Pad Thai though. It was such an easy stop for us. This particular location I'm featuring today opened in 2016. Which is their third location. Since then many have tried to duplicate them. It's a local family affair. At Swing Thai got its name from Thailand's 98-foot swing. The swing represents the importance of collaboration powered by people. I love all the dishes we've tried. From their appetizer crab meat and cheese fried wonton & Chicken Satay. Standard appetizer but it's tasty. What else can you ask for? The Papaya Salad for me has to have a requisite heat to it. And that mouth-puckering taste to it. Yup. Check! The Chicken Tom Kha and Shrimp Tom Yum are all outstanding! And loaded! Now their Chicken Khao Soy is so rich and flavorful. Their bbq Thai herb chicken was so wonderfully embedded with seasoning. Or drop in for a cocktail or two! Their Mango Mojito and Thai Martini are wonderful! This side of town is your hangout? Visiting Denver for the first time, on the last day of my trip I was craving some Thai food and hoped this would hit the spot. We were in the area but on a Monday afternoon, so the seemingly better reviewed Thai spot down the street was closed. Order wasn't too wild - 2 Thai teas, a Tom Yum, pineapple fried rice and a Pad Thai. The server accidentally gave me Tom Ka and then lowkey made it feel like I was lying when I said I didn't order that (I've had this maybe once in my life YEARS ago so the name of this dish would never come to mind to even accidentally order). Pad Thai was fine, moderate portions. Fried rice was a lil wet for my liking but also fine. The Tom Yum I was eventually brought had absolutely NO tamarind taste. I was SHOOK since this order is pretty much my go-to at all Thai spots. It was basically vegetable broth, I was so sad. I feel like Tom Yum is a staple dish in Thai cuisine and the fact that I didn't taste any tamarind or other flavor was a huge disappointment for me. This is a name your own spice level establishment. I had the Tofu Pad Thai and the tofu part was good but the noodles slightly over cooked. Don't skip this visit, Swing Thai is a classic and absolutely DELICIOUS! I tend to order to-go from this location since I live so close by, but it always seems to be pretty crowded inside with dine-in customers. The food is extremely flavorful, and they add great spice to whatever you order which is really appreciated. If I order medium spice, I'm looking for medium spice (not just light spice)! I have only ordered to-go recently, and the food is really fast and tends to be ready in 15-20 minutes. Staff is extremely friendly, and the atmosphere is classic for Swing Thai. This was my first time at Swing Thai on Tennyson. I was sadly disappointed by the food. The Massaman Curry was more sweet than savory and did not have a good flavor. The Coconut Lemongrass soup was okay, but the vegetables were in huge chunks. I had to get a knife and fork and chop them up to eat them. The Mango Sticky rice was not very good either. The lump of rice looked like a clump of hot glue and had the same consistency, so sad. The mango was ripe which was good news. I pitched most of the food in the compost bin and for what I paid for this meal was quite a waste on my part. I guess I will continue my search for some good Thai food, because it is not here at Thai Swing on Tennyson. read more

I was attending a comedy show nearby at the Oriental Theatre and I was looking for a meal to eat with only about 40 minutes until the doors opened. The service here was very quick. The food was delicious as well. I ordered the fried vegetable rolls and a hot chicken pad Thai. The waiter and I debated if I should get extra hot or just hot. And I was happy with the choice to get hot but I feel I would have like the extra spicy just as well. Next time I come in I will definitely get the extra spicy as I love spice. However service was so bad we walked out after our appetizer and waiting 45 minutes for the lone server (taking care of probably 12-15 tables) to inform us he forgot to put in our order. It was the last day to use my LivingSocial voucher, and they must have been redeeming those all day long because as soon as the order was placed, the girl who looked to be in charge asked if I had the voucher. The house was half full, some people sat out on the little patio. I thought the interior décor was very cultural-oriented. We were first served the Tom Yum (I asked for shrimp), mind you, MILD = NO HEAT AT ALL in Swing Thai. Which is too bad because the delicious soup would be a lot better with a bit of heat, just a little, I'm sure I'd be able to hack it. Pad Thai with chicken was the same deal, asked for mild and couldn't detect any spiciness. It's a very saucy dish. I still prefer Pad Thai at Tommy's Thai restaurant because you can have a combo of chicken and shrimp, and their sauce is more subtle. Here in Swing Thai, the noodles looked to be drenched in tomato sauce! Vegetable fried rice was OK, I asked for half tofu and half veggie, got all veggie, and they were all very slightly cooked. The onions still tasted raw and the large pieces of bell peppers were hard to chew apart because it still had thick skin as a result of undercooking. The food here has a good taste profile but I wouldn't be surprised if MSG was used because I had to drink water all night long. Which isn't to say I mind it too much. As long as I go in expecting that, I'm fine. Service was quick, they pretty much just left us there eating by ourselves. The restaurant is located on a cute street that seems fairly developed. I love getting take out from Swing Thai! The food is consistently good. The takeout staff isn't the friendliest but if you dine in the staff is very friendly and the food comes out in a timely order. If you're doing take out be sure to call at least 10 to 15 minutes before you want to pick it up. The atmosphere is intimate but you'll still be able to to see your company. There is booth seating so you're pretty close to your neighbors. It's a great resultant. read more

This review is strictly for my take out experience. My friends and I were craving Thai food and my friend recommended that we order from Swing Thai. I was able to order through their website and it was a really easy process. There was about 6 of us eating dinner, so we got 2 orders of the pineapple fried rice, 2 orders of the chicken pad thai, and 2 orders of the beef pad seew. Everything was delicious! Everything tasted fresh and flavourful, with my favorite being the pad thai. The restaurant is located in a cute area of Tennyson with plenty of street parking right out front. We were able to park right out front while I ran in to pick up the food. The inside was cute, spacious, and modern. The food was ready right when we got there, which was great. The lady who gave me my order was a little bit standoff-ish, but luckily it was a short interaction, and I was in and out of there quickly. Would definitely order from here again! read more

The decor is a perfect mix of cultural Thai and upscale bohemian, the surrounding area has lots of cute places to window shop, and they offer a lot of dishes that are authentic. Everything came out quickly. My friend really enjoys their peanut curry and their pad Thai- she got the pad Thai and said it was delicious. I got the pineapple fried rice, my go to at any Thai restaurant, and it tasted burnt and cold. The fresh tomato that topped it was underripe and there was hardly any chicken or pineapple in the dish. There's a good chance that I just got the wrong dish there- my friend is a regular and loves the place. read more

We stumbled onto this place while exploring Tennyson Street on a quiet Monday evening. We had the spring roll and dumpling apps. Both well prepared. My Massaman curry entre was excellent. The "medium" spiciness was a bit milder than I'd hoped, but it still announced its presence, and it paired well with the 2 Singha beers. My son had the Pad Thai and gave it a big thumbs up. We ordered a pad Thai as well. We asked for mild for both. Pad Thai was tasty but small serving. I posted a pic and of how much chicken and peppers we received. The Panang curry was hot and amount small. When the waiter asked how it was we thought of him it was really hot. Won't order that again but they kindly comped our panang to our surprise.
