My organization had the opportunity to bring the Swirl Works team to our office for staff to participate in the Fragrance Bar experience. I was absolutely blown away from the engagement. I was lead on the event and worked with the Swirl Works team to develop our time together. They were incredibly responsive via email and very understanding of the tedious process that is inviting an external vendor onsite. Their team arrived on time to prepare the space and ready to greet the first group of staff for their experience. We had staff weave in and out over the course of 4 hours in 30 minute time slots. Everything went super smoothly and I know we all enjoyed getting educated on how to make our custom scent. The entire Swirl Works team was so knowledgeable and patient as many of us wanted to get our fragrance just right. So many staff came up to me during and after to rave about the event and how they had never done something like this before. I attended the Swirl pop up perfume bar at the Rosewood Sand Hill last weekend and it was amazing! I have been recommending this activity to lots of friends and colleagues ever since. It was a perfect way to spend a weekend afternoon. There was a great scent collection; I learned a lot about fragrances, and ended up with a wonderful personalized scent that came elaborately packaged with my unique label and fresh lavender. Highly recommend for a fun ladies activity (guys too!)--would be great for team building with colleagues, birthdays, or showers. read more

We took two toddler-parent art classes at Swirl Works and loved it! The staff is very welcoming and takes all the COVID precautions. The preschoolers were encouraged to explore numerous methods of art play and there were plenty of thoughtful suggestions for parents to engage their children in the class and also beyond the class. It was a treat to see how the class also integrated the beautiful grounds of Allied Arts when the teacher led us through the elements of art in nature. So happy I recently discovered Swirl Works. Had the loveliest Saturday taking a beginning oil painting class. Was so relaxing and set in beautiful Allied Arts under the trees. Nice to not have to set up/clean up the art supplies. Instruction was very clear and easy to follow along. Was only an hour and a half, but didn't feel rushed and left with a beautiful piece of art. I have taken several classes at Swirlworks and always love it. It is in the most beautiful setting with flowers and greenery around a courtyard. The teachers have always been fantastic-- local artists or artisans. I have taken flower arranging, watercolor, printing press, block printing, and more. This is an adorable business and don't hesitate to take a class! You can eat at the yummy café in the same complex afterwards. Swirlworks provides the most amazing opportunity to get away and be creative in a magical setting. The instructors are excellent and the range of workshops are fantastic. I've taken watercolor classes and loved what I learned. I also arranged a private mandala rock painting birthday party for a friend that was marvelous. Everyone I know who goes just loves it. The courtyard is beautiful and each event is such fun, relaxing and creative. It is woman owned and we are so lucky that Kori had the vision to create Swirlworks to support artists and for everyone to come learn and enjoy! Swirl Works workshops feel like a retreat from everyday life. Tucked away in the best little corner of Allied Arts, the outside "studio" space feels like worlds away from the rest of Menlo Park. I've taken 5 workshops already (and already signed up for more -- I'm kind of addicted...), and when I'm making art next to a rustic barn, under colorful trees, listening to birds chirping, I almost forget I'm just a few miles from home. The venue adds to the meditative feeling of the artistic process. Regardless of your level of experience, each teacher walks you through a project step by step, allowing you to experiment with your own style. There are no strict rules or critiques -- hey, this is art after all. Each class I've found that we're all surprised by the quality of our final projects (great teachers!), and also amazed by how the couple hours went by without our thinking about anything but the present moment. Pretty fantastic. Kori has done fantastic work bringing together talented and supportive instructors who have positive attitudes and oodles of patience for beginners and experts alike. Such a variety of classes, a calendar that is continually updated with new workshops, and loads of opportunities to give yourself a few hours away just for yourself (or a group of friends, if that's your cup of tea). Plan to stay a little while after class for lunch at Wisteria, a walk through the rose garden, or a little window shopping at the other artists' studios. Blissful. read more
