$22 and worth it!

I typically stay at Marriott Bonvoy properties, but since my conference this week was hosted at Swissôtel, it made sense to stay on-site. This was my first stay here, and overall, I was pleasantly surprised. Hotel & Room The hotel is 37 years old, and while that age shows in a few design elements, everything was clean, well-maintained, and fully functional. My guest room was spacious and comfortable, more so than many newer hotels that prioritize style over space. The bathroom setup was a tell: a full bathtub (a giveaway of an older property) but with a small glass-enclosed shower tucked behind the door--functional, but not exactly modern luxury. View The highlight of our room on the 21st floor was the stunning view of Lake Michigan, especially at night. Floor-to-ceiling windows gave us a postcard-perfect view--a real selling point for this hotel. Unique Touches One charming surprise was the old-fashioned doorbell, which you ring by turning a key outside the door. A small detail, but it reminded me this hotel has some history. Fitness Center The 34th-floor fitness center was the biggest surprise--absolutely outstanding. It looked brand new, with a wide range of quality equipment and panoramic skyline and lake views. For anyone who values a good workout on the road, this is a major perk. Dining & Amenities * The Palm steakhouse anchors the lobby for lunch and dinner--reliable, classic, and always good. * In the morning, the hotel takes over the space. I ordered an omelette with bacon, potatoes, and toast for $22, and it was huge--good value for a downtown hotel breakfast. * My only real disappointment: no proper coffee shop on-site. Coffee service at the lobby bar exists, but it's nothing special. A hotel of this size should really have a grab-and-go café. Overall Take I wouldn't call Swissôtel a five-star luxury property like the St. Regis up the street, but it delivers on comfort, views, and fitness amenities. If your conference is here or you want a lake-facing view at a more reasonable price, it's a solid choice.

Great location, walking distance from a lot of places, and nice view of the city/river. Checking in and out was a breeze - they do offer food/beverage credits if you don't request room service daily. This hotel is very outdated and could use a facelift, though. The toilet ran for about 15 mins after flushing, the a/c doesn't go down past 65°, and you can definitely hear people moving about. It served its purpose for my few days stay but I doubt I'll return here.

We stayed in Chicago a few weeks ago for the Oasis concert after getting a deal on a website. It was so easy to get around from this hotel, but I do wish it was just a bit closer to the riverwalk. We had a great view of Navy Pier, which we especially enjoyed at night when the ferris wheel was lit up. The hotel lobby bar was nice and the house wines were actually pretty good. My only issue with the room was that the shower door wouldn't stay closed! So after every shower we had to essentially mop up the bathroom floor. We also told the front desk and housekeeping that we didn't need any service, yet they still came in our room and moved things around. Would I stay here again? Maybe, but I'm not itching to return either

I booked Swisshotel for a 1 night staycation and had a very enjoyable experience! Great hotel in a great location right off of the lake. Nice bar scene and they have a good looking restaurant in which I did not get a chance to try. The room itself was really nice and spacious. Had a good view and the bed was really comfy. Room came equipped with a mini fridge which came in handy. The only issue I would call out is that the shower was very small so unless you're really small people, its a hassle to shower together lol! We ordered room service the next day and the breakfast sandwich was really good...ham, eggs, cheese and avocado on a croissant. I would definitely stay here again...really good hotel

My second stay here, and this time I have to add that the stunning view from the 27th floor was breathtaking. But otherwise I stand by my former review. Great location, excellent views, good place for a medium to larger conference. A little short staffed, I would have liked to see more fresh water in the conference rooms, and a shorter trip for fresh coffee than going all the way back to the front of the hotel. Conferences require coffee, there was always a line for the one barista, who by the way was excellent. Rooms are good, as is always the case with Swissotel, as expensive as the comparable area hotels. They do not have reasonable parking, you shouldn't drive here, it's pretty well served by Chicago's public transportation, the CTA. Park near one of the CTA train termini and leave your car there for your stay. Definitely take the train in from the airport, no need to rent a car in Chicago. I was a little confused getting off the train to find the hotel, and I grew up in Chicago. This area of the city has changed considerably. Lots of very expensive add-ons, the hotel is honest about them but just be careful. The restaurant is good but can't quite handle lunch and dinner rush times when a conference has packed in the hotel. Eat in the hotel when you need to, but do note that Chinatown, Greektown, and Bronzeville aren't far at all. A little farther out and you can find authentic Chicago style hot dogs (don't ask for ketchup), deep dish pizza, Italian Beef, real Korean, and authentic Polish cuisine. Like most hotels in the 21st century, you're not going to find a helpful concierge, so instead utilize YELP. Look for reviews by Chicago fat guys.

Tea with a beautiful view!

Due to extreme weather on the east coast our flight to Newark cancelled. When we arrived there was missing information that was suppose to secure our rooms. Simone sprung into action and made the necessary phone calls needed to remedy the situation. We were exhausted and so appreciative of her support. When our flight cancelled the next day, manager Jean, also made the necessary phone calls to continue our stay. He even sent up tea because I am a bit under the weather which was not expected but highly appreciated. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. They go above and beyond to make their guests stay comfortable and memorable The rooms were immaculate and comfortable. Our unexpected stay was delightful! Thank you

My friend and I did a staycation for her birthday this summer and this was a great hotel to do so. It was prime time location to basically everywhere we wanted to go, the riverwalk, state street, Michigan Ave, etc. Central location if you plan to explore the city during your stay. The lobby area was nicely decorated and very inviting for you to have a cocktail and conversation, if you wanted to stay in for the night. We had a river view (I think that was the name) so we got to watch the sun rise over the river and Navy Pier. 1000/10, highly recommend. Room was clean and spacious, staff were nice and accommodating, and house keeping was quick and efficient during our stay.

Beautiful hotel, very spacious rooms and very friendly staff. Check in process was quick and easy. I arrived at 12pm and the staff allowed me to check in early. Room had great views of Chicago river and downtown area. Very beautiful at night. Would definitely stay here again.

This was my first time in Chicago as I had just run the Chicago Marathon. I had a few extra days after to explore the city. I chose the Swissôtel for a couple of days and had a great experience from check-in, location, and the ambiance of the hotel itself (with a couple of eateries near the lobby.) I became a quick fan of the Smash Burgers at Amuse. Sooo good, I ended up having 3 of them during my stay. I had such a great experience, I ended up extending my stay 2 additional nights. During my additional night, there were some repairs happening in a room next to mine. It was a bit distracting, so I brought it up to the front desk. Alfred was very understanding and went above and beyond to look into my concerns (as I had work calls during the day and the noise was distracting). He let me know it would continue through the day and happily accommodated me in a much nicer room. Overall, Alfred was just understanding, empathetic and had great communication throughout. The Swissôtel in Chicago has earned a loyal customer and I look forward to visiting again!

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

Lady on the phone was rude, told me no and hung up on me mid sentence. I wasn't able to eat my share because well, it was LATE. Wife said her food simply wasn't good regardless. Something as simple as butter and jelly for the toast wasn't provided. Arrived back between meetings. Stood out front and in the lobby for over 15 minutes to try and give my keys to the valet attendant. No one was anywhere to be found. Wouldn't answer calls from the front desk. They finally took my keys then some dude chased me down saying they can't keep them and I have to keep waiting. Oh this made me LATE to my next meeting. $89 a day for poor performance was not worth it. I would 100% suggest parking yourself or a block over at London house. They always have 4+ attendants. Help with luggage and doors etc. oh and it's CHEAPER. We appreciated the room upgrade. The room itself was okay. It wouldn't get below 71 degrees and got upwards of 76 degrees during the day. While searching hilton.com for a hotel to stay at on the day of my birthday, Hampton Inn Majestic…read moreChicago Theatre District was the first to pop-up within Chicago. I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

The bed was massive, very comfortable, and just the right firmness. A detail that stands out is the space between the foot of the bed and the wall where the TV was mounted, which makes the room feel open and calm rather than cramped. The décor was elegant without feeling stuffy, highlighted by thoughtful touches like an espresso machine. The bathroom was another highlight: the frosted-glass window offered privacy while maintaining a sense of connection, and the rain shower had excellent water pressure and felt indulgent. The location is fantastic, convenient for work in the Loop, time in Grant Park, shopping on Michigan Avenue, or dining in River North or Fulton Market. During our trip, we ate nearby both nights, which made getting around easy and stress-free. The staff was warm and helpful throughout our stay, and breakfast at the hotel restaurant was memorable, even if the details are a bit hazy now. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.
