Came in for a late lunch Thursday. Good experience. Things I hadn't noticed before are how small the cans of soda are, I mean they are 7.5 oz cans which aren't really bad still I'd have liked a full size one. The nachos aren't all that bad not amazing but hey they were good. Tried some tacos and those are amazing, love the steak street taco, it's my favorite. The steak taco has the little bite of the chipotle mayo or maybe it is the charred onion... I love these things. The brisket isnt all that bad either, actually come to think of it any of them aren't half bad but that steak is my favorite. I noticed that the banana foster french toast was missing on the brunch menu. That dish was my favorite and kinda sad it is missing in action because as I have said in another review it is likely one of in not the best french toast in the area. If it is truly off the menu I want to know who to talk to because it was amazing. I will still plan on coming back because I have never had a bad meal here, lunch, dinner even the sunday brunch have been amazing. read more

After a long day of exploring, my bff and I wanted nothing more than a quick, delicious meal and Switchback was nothing short of that. The tacos were seasoned well, reasonably priced and different than your average chain. I also got the "Elote" which is like mexican street corn in a cup and was very pleased. This was a really cute taco place, right in the heart of downtown on Main Street. We got the vegan loaded fries with chicken added and they were awesome. If you have issues with dairy, this was a great option. My husband got the Birria Beef tacos. You can't get just one of them like you can the other tacos and they are definitely the most expensive per taco. But he said they were insanely good. He hands down recommends them. We had a lovely dinner here on the patio. The quality of the food is outstanding. We started with the guacamole and then we each had two tacos and shared a cup of the corn. We agreed that the tofu taco is really good. The smokiness of the tofu really makes it flavorful. And my first bite of the mushroom tacos made me think I had accidentally been served beef-they were that tasty. The shrimp taco was also a winner. The corn was the star of the show-a must order. We were lazy and got it in a cup rather than on the cob. We also had the new Belgian summertime ale which was reminiscent of oranges and totally delicious. Service was a bit slow and tacos are small. She made excellent recommendations and kept our table satiated by ensuring that we had enough to drink. The birria was very good, spicy, and plenty of flavor. The asada plato (1 steak and 1 portabella mushroom) were very good. The food came out hot which was appreciated. Portion sizes were good. The restaurant was clean and it was nice being able to sit outside and watch the town go by. We are visiting from out of town, and it was nice to get a confirmation from our neighbor (who was walking out to her car when we were leaving for the restaurant) about the quality of food here. We have zero issue with the Covid-19 cautions that Switchback has applied to their restaurant. However, at 6:26, after making a reservation for 4 people, we were told that we would be seated at the absolute latest in 40 minutes. My family and I walked around and sat out in the car (15 degrees, stores closed!) for a good while before I double checked the wait time. the original time estimation was 12 minutes, then it became 18, then 24, then suddenly 49. If you're in Durango, Switchback is a must! The carnitas tacos are the BOMB!! You can tell the chefs care very much about quality of the food they serve. Kari was my server and she was so sweet! She made sure I was comfortable the whole time and accommodated my drink request (by the way the Paloma is 10/10 will be back for just a drink). The patio area has limited seating but the seats they do have are in good condition and have plenty of shade to escape the Colorado heat. Everything here was very clean as well, even the outdoor seating was spotless, normally a hard task for outdoor seating.
