It was easy to make an appointment through Yelp and pay the $30 deposit to reserve the appointment time. On the day of my appointment, Sam and I talked for a while about what I wanted for my haircut, color, and level of maintenance I was willing to do, to find the best fit. He made sure he understood what I wanted and was straight forward with how curtain bangs would look with my straight hair without proper styling, and how copper will fade quickly. After the consultation, Sam worked his magic and 4.5 hours later (bleach, tone, wash, and cut), I left the salon happier than ever! Sam communicated what was happening every step of the way so I knew the wait time for bleaching, toning, etc. I've attached a before and after pictures with what I asked for and what I got. I was surprised that the haircut itself only took about 10 minutes, and I am not sure if the length was checked. Once I washed my hair (a couple of days later) and it was straight again, I noticed that the left side was shorter than the right and reached out to the stylist. The stylist said she would just round out the right side to match the left. I mentioned that I wanted to grow out the left side a bit before having corrections made because I didn't want any more length taken off. She said that that would count as a whole new haircut. Plus, Tangletown is a cute area and this gave me an excuse to venture into a different area of Seattle. Paul and I visited a bit so that he could get a feel for what I wanted and what I was comfortable with. He's an experienced stylist, and he had great ideas about what kind of cut would work best for my hair type (fine hair but lots of it, and a bit of wave here and there) as well as my lifestyle (low maintenance). Paul began with a light massage using some delicious smelling essential oils, with another scalp massage while washing my hair. While the conditioning mask sat on my hair, he gave me a hand massage. It was so relaxing, I nearly dozed off. Filling my cut, he dried and styled my hair so that I looked finished coming out of the salon. And my cut was fantastic. As a bonus, Paul is lovely. The salon itself is cozy and inviting. They have some boutique items, like sweaters and jackets, that they sell as well as an array of Aveda products. The whole place smells amazing. And the staff are also very sweet and helpful. A lot of salons are closed on Sundays and Mondays, but this salon is open (another reason I wound up coming here, as those are my "days off").
