Stepping into @sycamoreden Den feels like time-traveling straight into a dreamy 70's hideaway--disco balls spinning, cocktails flowing, pool table ready, and the coziest cabin vibes. Always here for the drinks, the energy, and the DJ keeping the groove alive. A Normal Heights gem through and through.

I love this place so much. Becoming one of my favorite pool spots and the staff is lovely.

We stumbled upon this joint after the thrift market across the street because we saw the happy hour sign and they had the r&b jams going. Cool old Hollywood aesthetic. Happy hour is 50% off everything - crazy! I had a fantastic whiskey sour and something with gin that was awesome. The patio still has the music playing there and the booth there was comfy. I'm most def coming back Cora was super nice and friendly

Shout out to Lizzie who truly made our time here feel special, we had a great time and she was so friendly, we will absolutely be back, thanks again to Sycamores best bartender, Lizzie!

Loved my visit here this past weekend! Happy hour from open til 7pm daily. Excellent cocktails at a great price! At first they only had on bartender so it took a while to get drinks, but more staff was added later in the day. They have an outdoor patio that's amazing including a TV. During the summer it might get a little warm without fans. There's free popcorn but no food. We ordered a pizza from nearby and brought it in. It's Normal Heights so uber or plan on looking for parking in the neighborhood. I'll definitely pay them another visit!

If you want some good cocktails, I'd recommend trying out this place. The two times I've been here, it wasn't too crowded as I came during the weekday night or weekend evening. They got some good cocktails drinks along with popcorn, which is free! The vibe inside is great - good for socializing or for date nights. The people there are really nice and friendly and get the drinks done pretty fast. So if you want a place to have some fun and chill, this is the place to visit!

This place has a great vibe. They usually have live music in the evenings, offer free popcorn, and even have a fun little game where you swing a metal ring and try to hook it. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The last time I came was for a friend's birthday, and we had our own little private area, which was a nice touch. The staff are always friendly, though service can be a bit slow since it tends to get crowded. They were also out of all three IPAs I tried to order, so they definitely need to do a better job keeping the beer stocked. The selection was pretty disappointing. Still, it's a fun spot overall. Great music, good energy, friendly service, and lots of space. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a really nice bar. Servers are normally really nice. They have a really good Sunday happy hour. I believe the happy hour is from 5 pm to 7pm. The music is really good. Drinks are great! They have some really good cocktails. Place is pretty chill. They just remodeled the back, so it's really nice. Good amount of seating and a gigantic disco ball hanging out, its pretty cool. Definitely casual environment. They also have seating out in the front which is nice you can sit and have a drink hanging out watching towards Adams street. Cody is a really good bartender. Always pleasant. He definitely pays attention to his customers. I like also that you can get some free popcorn here. They also have the Hook & ring game if interested. Normally the crowd here is very chill. Definitely one of the best bars down on Adams street. But also close to some other cool spots. Definitely a vibe.

Stumbled into Sycamore Den on Adams Ave after a friend's glowing rec--perfect timing, I rolled in just after opening and had the whole retro-vibe joint to myself and the super-friendly bartender. Ordered the SycDen Paloma (Ilegal Mezcal Joven, grapefruit, lime, agave, Sprite, Tajín rim) and--plot twist--they were showcasing a new Murcielago tequila and swapped the mezcal for it on the house. The drink was next-level refreshing: bright citrus, subtle smoke from the spirit, and that spicy-salty Tajín kick. Dangerous how easy it went down. Vibes are chill and unpretentious--one pool table for low-stakes games, a huge dog-friendly patio out back, and a free popcorn machine (yes, unlimited buttery goodness). No kitchen, but you can BYOF from the killer spots nearby (taco shop run, anyone?). If you want a laid-back, no-attitude bar with killer cocktails and a neighborhood feel, Sycamore Den is a gem. Already planning my next visit.

EXCELLENT vibes in this establishment. Cowboy Bebop on the TV's, eclectic music playing (I was shazaming every song), warm, cozy 70's decor, funky in like the best way possible. Popcorn machine you can just take popcorn from. The bartender was great. Definitely coming back!!

Anyone know how busy it gets on burlesque night?

    Do they allow dogs? Inside?

When I was there this past Saturday (03/02/24), I saw not, but two little furballs enter with their owners. In fact, one patron had her dog tucked under her arm and nothing was said. So, yes, the allow dogs.

What time does trivia start? What are the prizes?

Would this be a good place to watch NFL football?

They only have TWO LCDs, I don't think the carry the NFL package

What really keeps me coming back are the seasonal transformations. They go all out with the decorations, and during Christmas the entire restaurant feels completely transformed. It's one of the best holiday dining experiences in San Diego. The seasonal touches don't stop at the décor either. I like that they regularly introduce limited-time food and cocktail specials, so there's usually something new to try while still keeping some of their popular favorites on the menu. Everything I've ordered over multiple visits has been well prepared, and I haven't had a bad meal yet. It's definitely on the pricier side, so I see it more as a place for celebrations, date nights, or when you want a unique dining experience rather than an everyday meal. Between the food, drinks, and the incredible decorations, it feels worth it for those occasions. One piece of advice: make a reservation. This place is popular, especially during the holidays and other seasonal events, and tables fill up quickly.

We happened upon this place for happy hour, which is a great deal. The old fashioned was really good and they have a decent wine list, both at great prices. We also ordered some popcorn chicken, Brussels, and the chicken sandwich. The Brussels were absolutely out of this world, as was the sandwich! The popcorn chicken was also really good...but the Brussels sprouts are worth coming for alone. The service was great and there is plenty of bar seating. August 2026. Very disappointed and underwhelmed…read more The food was ok. Steak and fries good. The chicken was very dry - even the dark meat. The bigger issue was the service. I don't think it ever works to have multiple people serve the table. There's no continuity and stuff gets forgotten. We had multiple orders not logged and therefore not delivered. We ordered both the Brussels and the ahi crackers for appetizers. The Brussels came 5 minutes later. Perfect timing. But the ahi never showed. I don't think it was until we mentioned it. It had really been a long time so we asked to cancel. But they lets us know the entrees were delayed and told us they'd comp the ahi. All right, whatever, we had them. They were still on the bill but I didn't say anything. Also midway through I asked for a second beer but it never came. I wanted the Mexican lager and the server even asked if I wanted a line. But I think this order directly preceded the discussion about the ahi so it must have been forgotten. My final gripe: I really don't like places that bring entrees staggered, or when they're ready. The steak came and the chicken followed about 5 minutes later. We're a party of 2. It's not like a 6 top and the poor server needs to make 2 trips. All in all this place isn't really for us so we won't be coming back anytime soon.

I made a reservation (just in case) because on a weekend you never know. Luckily, though, we arrived and there was plenty of available seating. My husband and I had our 10 and 5 year old with us and they easily accommodated us. It's a straightforward, but lovely menu that has a little bit for everyone. We enjoyed sharing a few plates and fresh oysters on the half shell. They do not have a kids menu, which was alright with us. Our daughter, who loves a good steak at 5 years old, enjoyed their pub steak and fries and shared a Mexican Coke with her brother. For my husband and I, we enjoyed sharing their beef tartare and to finish it off, a banana split. What we found so whimsical about Finca is their presentation.
