Cake Jars... it's the only picture he sent! :(

I'm in Boston and wanted to send my son at Adelphi a birthday treat to his dorm. After striking out with a few bakeries (no call-backs, meh reviews), I stumbled on Sydney's Sweets--and thank goodness I did! I spoke with Jermaine, who was fantastic. He not only helped me figure out what to order but even hand-picked the flavors, including a special one just for my son. When I couldn't reach my son to coordinate delivery, Jermaine was calm, flexible, and gave me options without pressure. Zero Stress, all kindness... That kind of service is rare. The cake jars were a huge hit--even the roommates' moms messaged me to say how much they loved them. My only complaint? They didn't ship any to me! Next trip to campus, I'm stopping by Sydney's myself! Food Network winner, amazing treats, Black-owned business, and customer service that goes above and beyond--highly recommend!

Here we go, So, my sister informed me about this bakery that people were raving about on Instagram. Since I was in the area, I thought maybe I would try it out . I really wanted to see what the rave was about. Spoke with one of the owners . Very nice guy. This place is located in West Hempstead in a small shopping mall. If you are driving fast you can miss it. This is not a eat in bakery. It's for pick up only. Let start with the banana pudding cake. This cake was amazing it was very smooth and had the exact taste of banana pudding. Sweet potato cake - I was really excited about tasting this one. However, I was a bit disappointed. This cake wasn't moist like the other, and the frosting was too sweet, which actually was overpowering the taste of the sweet potato. As for the apple pie cake, I haven't tasted it yet, but I am sure it will be a great tasting piece of cake.

I visited Sydney's Sweets over the weekend to get some cake slices and cupcakes. I ordered the red velvet cupcake and chocolate Oreo cupcake. I also ordered the Strawberry Crunch Cheesecake, Oreo cookies and cream cake, Chocolate cake and Sweet Potato Swirl cake slices. Everything was so delicious. The cakes were well prepared, flavorful and moist. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The store was pretty busy since everyone was coming in to pick up some sweets. The inside of the store was very nice since they had some recent upgrades. I'll have to return another time to take advantage of the cake bar. Whenever I need of some delicious cakes I'll be visiting Sydney's Sweets.

Sydney and Jermaine are geniuses. Culinary, confectionery and gastronomical geniuses. Last year I attended a YEE event hosted by them and we got a sampling of many of their cakes and pies. When I tasted Sydney's sweet potato pie, I was transcended to a different astral plane. This was seriously one of the best forkfuls I have ever put in my mouth and I vowed this needed to be on my Thanksgiving table. And that's exactly what I did. I called a week and a half before and placed an order for a pie. Sydney's requires pre-payment, and they take your card info the phone but are happy to accommodate if you come in person before hand to pay since they aren't really a retail bake. After placing my order on the phone, I confirmed with them when I would be dropping by to pay and it was easy peasy. Some might say... easy as pie. I picked up the pie the day before Thanksgiving and was greeted by Jermaine who was chatting with some other customers picking up their holiday delectable. The total vibe was so welcoming. Dessert is always the hardest part about a holiday. You always want to save some room but the entrees and apps get in the way. Well, that wasn't going to happen this time. I saved some room, did crunches in between and had two slices of the pie (along with some other desserts). I savored the damn thing, eating it slowly so that it could just stay forever in my mouth and heart. Sydney is a genius. A bonafide genius. That's all I can really say. And now, with a forlorn and heavy heart, I move into the space where the sweet potato pie one again becomes only a reality in my dreams as I wait out the next year for it to come around again.

Thank you Sydney for the beautiful and delicious graduation cake. The cake was so pretty we felt bad cutting it but I must add, it was just perfect. You did an amazing job.

I attended the Yelp Night at The Museum - A Food Art Show event in which the Nassau County Museum of Art was open to Yelp Elite members at night for a private viewing. Sydney's Sweets served cake samples as part of the event. Their red velvet cake was delicious... moist, flavorful, delicious cream cheese frosting. BUT... The coconut cake with coconut cream frosting..... Do yourself a favor and order yourself a cake or a dozen cupcakes of this. It was moist, excellent texture, flavor was perfect. I could have eaten a whole cake of it by myself. The head baker, Jermaine, was friendly and welcoming, taking time to speak with us about his business and offerings. The only sad thing about this is that I do not live anywhere near the bakery! But this cake was so good, I will likely make a special trip so that I can experience it again.

Stepping inside of this magnificent dessert emporium I became perplexed by the variety of desserts and pastries that were very desirable and readily available. In the words of Vinnie Barbarino, I'm so confused (IYKYK). It's a different setup that causes the line to move faster than it used to, I see the improvement. The ordering is done in one place and cashing out is next to it, in the same area. You still walk in and head straight to the display cases where you pick you pleasure. I did not pick my names sake only because it slipped my mind due to me being focused on breakfast. No, I don't eat cakes for breakfast. I picked up a couple croissants, apple turnover, a couple of cheese Danishes, and an almond croissant. Service was prompt and the employees were attentive as well as pleasant. I like how they approach the counter and inquire about your status versus staring at you letting you try to figure out if someone is going to help you or not. At the check out, there's the coffee station or tea. I ordered 2 French Vanilla coffees, to say the least the French vanilla flavor seemed distant to none. On the second trip it was exact same coffee request with the same results. An improvement needed is to have different sweetners for the coffee. Not everyone wants white sugar or sweet n low. Since the vanilla syrup is not sweet enough, another liquid sweetener can work. Nonetheless this was such a sweet experience! Inspire more, Yelp more!

Bundt Believe the Hype--These Cakes Are Everything…read more I don't even know where to begin other than this: Nothing Bundt Cakes makes some of the best cakes I've ever had. Truly. I am a chocolate and red velvet person through and through, and I don't play about my cake. Outside of a standout red velvet from a favorite Harlem bakery, these are hands-down some of my favorite cakes--period. The red velvet bundt cake? Incredible. Moist, rich, perfectly balanced, and that icing (I'm guessing cream cheese, but honestly, I don't even care what it is) is just chef's kiss. It's sweet, decadent, and exactly what you want when you're craving cake. And then... the Biscoff flavor. Listen. That cake was on another level. I had it during a seasonal run, and I'm still thinking about it. I actually liked it more than chocolate--and that says everything. It was that good. What really stands out to me is the consistency. I've had Nothing Bundt Cakes in different cities and states over the years, and it is always the same: soft, moist, flavorful, and just done right every single time. I was first introduced to them through birthday gifts (shoutout to the people who knew what they were doing!), and I instantly became a fan. I didn't even realize there was a location near me until recently, and when I found out there was one nearby, I was genuinely excited. I've been to this location twice now, and both times delivered exactly what I expected--amazing cake, great quality, and that same signature flavor I've come to love. Are they the cheapest? No. Are they worth it? Absolutely. If you love cake--real cake, good cake, great cake--go to Nothing Bundt Cakes. You will not be disappointed.
