When I come to Miami I find gems, and on a past trip I found Sylvano's in Miami Beach. This trip I tried the location a block or two from Wynwood (dont trust me on location, just know we walked over after...never walk in Miami) and was pleasantly surprised that it was just as good, and maybe better because they were so good with my kids. Apps Melanzane alla parmigiana was delish. Artichoke hearts with a bunch of stuff was delish, and the kids and wife loved the fried zucchini Dinner Kids loved their Margarita pizza Heather loved her Chicken Parm and I loved my pappardelle lamb ragu ...almost forgot to mention one of the best things...wine list...we ordered a Grand Tuscan that was very reasonable for the quality, which made the meal... will double check if I have a pic and post later... read more

This is a cute house-style restaurant in Edgewater. The restaurant was filled without being overly packed. Our waitress was nice! Polipo - deliciously charred with nice light salad Pollo alla Parmigiana - great! 4 cheese pizza - a bit on the heavy side (but of course, it's cheese!). Other than that! We were disappointed when the last Italian restaurant in this spot closed so I am glad Sylvanos came in and knocked it out of the park. Their happy hour is fantastic! $5 wines, a great food menu. We have ordered one of everything. I also highly recommend their ravioli ! They do a different one each day and they are delicious. The bartender we have had and the chef have been super nice and great! We finally did a full on dinner there and it exceeded our expectations! We stumbled across this new, second location of Sylvano's on its opening night. I had never been to the original but my friend recognized the name as we drove by and told me she has family who loves the original location. We decided to stop in for dinner. The restaurant is located in the old Jack's space and they've done some remodels. The patio space was lit up nicely at night and had simple yet nice decor. It was very inviting and given the cool temperature that evening we opted to sit outside. Our waitress was extremely attentive and the manager even came over to check on us a couple of times, which we thought was a nice touch. My only criticism was that the busboys were a little too eager to clear our plates at times. The food was pretty good. I ordered the chicken parm and my friend had a salad. Our waitress told us the portions were generous but we thought they were normal. My friend and I ate our meals completely -- there were no leftovers nor did we leave stuffed, which is an okay thing! The veal parm was delicious and the veggies and potatoes it came with had really good flavors. The menu is pretty big and I noticed they had a lot of vegetarian options, and even some vegan options. The prices of pastas and entrees seems to range from low to high, depending on what you want to order. All in all, we had a very nice dinner with great food and service. I would return to perhaps try another dish. I'm also curious to try the original location on Miami Beach to see how it compares. read more

Sylvano's is a cozy warm beautiful place with amazing and super friendly souls. This was our first time here and they were so open and welcoming, I'm kind of picky and sometimes annoying when it comes to food but they worked with me and even the Chef came out to check on us and other customers that were there, the experience was as amazing as the food. Definitely coming back. Give it a try I would say and they also have a location on the beach close to lincoln 17th. read more

I visited Sylvano's for dinner on New Year's Eve with five of my friends. I hadn't been to the space since it was Jack's (oh, how I miss it), but it hasn't changed much inside since then, except the food isn't delicious anymore. We'd chosen Sylvano's to have dinner because it was close to the house party we were attending afterward, and when we called the restaurant we were told they would be offering the regular menu (that we could order a la carte). From what i'd see from the online menu, it seemed Sylvano's was a moderately-priced, typical Italian restaurant serving the usual, i.e. eggplant parm, pizza, pasta, etc. So, what could possibly go wrong..? When we arrived, we were unpleasantly surprised by a VERY marked-up, VERY limited menu for the occasion. Not only was the menu limited, but the items on the limited menu didn't seem to be on the regular menu, so it was a veritable bait & switch. NONE of the appetizers on the special menu are on the regular menu, and the prices were exorbitant. I get it, it's New Year's Eve, but shouldn't they have included at least some of their regular menu items..? For our appetizers, we had a grilled octopus that was decent, breaded artichokes that were good, and a beef carpaccio I heard was also good. The entrees though, weren't so good. There were only a few options available, including osso bucco, a pappardelle, lobster ravioli and maybe something else I can't remember. I had the pappardelle which was average at best, and one of my friends had the osso bucco which he said wasn't good. No one else at our table had anything different. The food arrived lukewarm and no one asked us whether we needed fresh pepper or anything else until we were almost done eating the food. The service left much to be desired, which I didn't understand since there were only two or three tables occupied at the restaurant. We waited for drinks for much longer than usual and often had to remind the servers that our drinks, including a wine bottle, hadn't arrived. The service was so slow in fact that by the time we'd finished our food we decided to skip dessert so we wouldn't be stuck there. Anyway, despite the fact that Sylvano's is a casual place, they'd clearly tried to make it seem like a much more upscale experience for the holiday, but missed the mark completely. I hate to judge a restaurant on a holiday, but judging by the fact that they weren't busy yet the service sucked, they completely switched up the menu, AND the food wasn't good I wouldn't consider returning. read more

Wonderful authentic Italian food in a great local venue. My family and I have celebrated, ate, drank and hung out at the Miami Beach location for years. I was stoked when they opened up a location walking distance from my condo! It is in the old "Jacks" local. Wynwood and Edgewater residents definitely needed a space like this! They have amazing pasta options, the calamari with zucchini is not to be missed. I love their Chicken Parmesan and the black linguini crab pasta and the lamb ragú. All delicious. The chef walks around to check on the tables as well, which is old school awesome. Edgewater start frequenting this establishment more! They deserve the support. read more

Had a lovely dinner here with friends who were in the process of leaving the Miami area. I was not familiar with this restaurant but they raved about how great the food was. Walking up it had great ambiance. There were white lights lighting the walkway out front and outdoor patio area. It was a nice evening so we opted to eat on the patio. Besides when we walked into the restaurant it was a little frigid. The chef and some of the team were inside upon our arrival. Other patrons had also opted to eat outside. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. I had pasta with sausage and peppers in a tomato sauce. The other orders included fish and gnocchi. I very much enjoyed my pasta but I expected more tomato sauce. I tried the gnocchi and it melted in my mouth. We had drinks and I ordered tiramisu for dessert. It had great flavor but I would've loved more texture. As others joined us on the patio, fur babies were also welcome. At one point the chef even took someone's dog for a walk! Totally random but nice. He also checked on every table. Definitely worth trying if you're in the Wynwood area. I will for sure be back. I am sitting here at my table having just finished an amazing meal with outstanding service. This place is AWESOME!!!! The service is excellent and the food is even better. I would say this is probably the BEST Italian meal I've had in Miami. I highly recommend this restaurant. The ambiance is very nice for conversation, romance or a night out with friends. The chef came to our table and personally thanked us for coming. What a nice touch. Dont waste time and money at chain Italian restaurants or the overrated, overpriced all over town. Was very disappointing! There were 3 of us and we followed the suggestings of our waitress. We ordered the Branzino, an Eggplant pasta and calamari and muscles with risotto. First dissapointment, the potatoes with the Branzino was served cold. Did not start us off with a good impression. I could understand if it was a busy night but we were the only ones there. Nothing was terrible but didn't feel that there was much love in the kitchen. The owner and the chef were by the bar. I talked with the owner and he told me "the next time I should tell him if I am unhappy...." He did not seem very open to our criticism even though I tried to make it constructive. What blew my mind and made me decide to leave this nagative review is that the chef didn't even bother to stop by and apologize. Just didn't seem to care. Definitely will not be returning.
