If I could.give this experience ZERO stars I would. Completely ruined a birthday dinner. To be fair, we have visited before Covid and recently a month ago. We had a table of 6 with 3 separate checks and told our waitress before ordering that we had Groupons. She said nothing about an issue at the time, but when it came time to pay, they suddenly refused to honor them. The Groupon clearly states "1 per transaction," not "per table," yet they still wouldn't allow it. It was also supposed to be a birthday dinner, and absolutely nothing was done to acknowledge it. The service was slow and inattentive, and to top it off, they were out of SIX different items on their menu - including coffee! We ended up paying full price for a mediocre meal and still lost the money spent on the unused Groupons that they marked as used. They stated that we coukd use another time but we will NEVER return.We asked to speak to the owner but was told theybwere not there even though q0 min prior the waitress stated that she had to get the owner to redeem groupon. I found this place was a little difficult to find at night and if you miss the turn into the parking lot, just do a U-turn and go back on the freeway. The Google maps might suggest another route but it is not a good route. My husband and I came here with a Groupon and we had a good time. The food was okay and the service was awesome. I had the chicken and my husband had the steak. We were both fairly pleased with our selections. After dinner, we opted to stay for the play. "The Neanderthals Next Door" was being staged, and it was very entertaining with good use of the space and a very homey type atmosphere. We were disappointed with the Murder Mystery Luau. No one at our table had a part in the show, and none us understand if we did not participate we would be totally left out of what was going on. We could not hear or understand much of anything the audience cast members said. A few of the cast came by and said something, but we did not hear or understand much. We did hear when someone died, but otherwise felt totally left out of what was going on in the room. The food was okay but overpriced. One suggestion might be to provide a hand out to everyone with a list of characters and a short description of the roles. At least the audience could ask the cast member a question when they came by to better understand and remember what part they were playing. The name tags were hard to read and remember for the few that did come in our direction. We don't think the killer ever came near our end of the dining room all evening. I recently dined at Sylver Spoon, and while the food itself was well-prepared, the overall experience left much to be desired. Each dish seemed to stand alone rather than forming a cohesive meal. The flavors were good individually, but they clashed when eaten together, making it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. It felt like the menu lacked thoughtful curation, leaving diners to assemble a meal that didn't quite work harmoniously. The service, unfortunately, was a major letdown. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, it was nearly impossible to get our server's attention. Constantly had to get up to ask for drink refills and the staff seemed generally disengaged. When we finally did get assistance, it was rushed and inattentive, leaving us feeling like an afterthought. While the food's quality shows promise, the lack of complementary flavors and poor service made the dining experience frustrating. With better coordination in the kitchen and more attentive staff, this place could have potential. Until then, I'd think twice before returning. We also attended a magic show. The talent was amazing but the theatre was terrible! The lighting was not great, so half the time you could barely see the stage or talent! The sound was mediocre. The worst part was the seating. It's like they got a bunch of used furniture and threw it into a small space with zero thought. We sat on the most uncomfortable metal chairs that were so close together my husband and I were arm in arm to avoid leaning into our people to the left or right. It was awful. The ONLY thing that made the night somewhat worth it was the magician/mentalist. His name was Steve and he did things we were in awe about. I think my husband said multiple times how did he do that! We decided to check out Sylver spoon as part of the January 2024 SA culinary restaurant week and take advantage of the $35 3 course dinner. I checked out the website and it said reservations strongly encouraged, but didn't see an option on open table to reserve/prepay for the restaurant week option. I messaged the number on the website and had AMAZING, personable customer service and she got us booked for 730 Friday before the show. We didn't have an issue finding the restaurant, and were immediately seated upon arrival. We were provided drink menus and the food menu. I asked if they were participating in restaurant week and if they had a menu for that, and they said yes and brought it out separately, but wasn't super forth coming about it. The restaurant week was just a shorter version of the usual menu, but was $4 cheaper. The waiter also asked us if we were planning on going to the show afterwards, in which we said yes. (They added it to our tab.) I ordered the crispy Brussels, ravioli, and cheesecake. Everything was really tasty and plated nicely. We finished eating and headed to the room for the play. Unfortunately even though we made a reservation with the impression we wanted to see the show and told the waiter we were planning on seeing the show, we were placed on the "seating chart" for the play until we showed up to be seated where only one other couple was already seated. Unfortunately We were seated on a bench essentially perpendicular to the stage and it was FREEZING in the room and they didn't offer any blankets or anything. Additionally, the building is shared with other businesses including an ax throwing business so you could hear the continual "THUD" of axes throughout the experience. We also witnessed two separate patrons attempt to access the sliding barn door to the restroom like a Murphy bed- pushing it straight out and trying to go under the door instead of sliding it... that's all I will say about that. The performers for the show were AMAZING and really drew us into the story. But it was awkward at the end when they asked for tips when we tipped on our dinner check since that was part of the total we payed. Other than that, i just am having a hard time justifying the "$$$" price range with the experience /ambiance, and food selections we had. My wife and I came on a Wednesday with a reservation for 5pm. Yes, it was early, but we have a two year old so we didn't want to distract/bother other patrons, but it turned out we were the only patrons lol. That being said, here was our experience in a nutshell. We would go later since it seemed that most employees were just arriving for work at that time and our scheduled server wasn't immediately available. The hostess did a great job of getting us started and took our order and I would have preferred her service over the staff member that ended up serving us. She was attentive, made us feel comfortable, and unfortunately we didn't get that feeling from the server. The selection of menu items was great. You select from a three course meal option and you have the ability to select "intermission" features/side. They have a theatre inside so everything is themed that way on the menu. I was skeptical of the place and when our first election came to the table, my shrimp ceviche came out with literally one small cut section of shrimp. The server came back and was quick to take it back and had another prepared and then it was what was expected, full of shrimp. When paying this much for this meal, that's what you expect. After that though, everything else came out great! The presentation, taste, and amount of food met our expectations. In the end, for the two of us and additional sides we ordered and tip, we walked out with a $150 tab. I would say that the atmosphere is less than to be desired for be a "romantic" setting but the food would be what brings us back again. It's a different vibe than what you would expect for a date night with your significant other. But, for the options we have in New Braunfels right now, it was some of the best food we've had. I did a Halloween wine tasting event at Sylver Spoons and I really liked their setup. It is located right off I35 in New Braunfels, so it was very easy to find. I booked the event early, but had a last minute add, which was very easy to make. The wine tasting was different and interesting. I wish they'd had a better selection of wine and more information was given on how to pair them, but the concept of pairing Halloween candies with wine was different. Made reservations here, when we got there the restaurant wasn't full. The host decided to sit us right in the middle of the restaurant where no one else was seated. We would have been a spectacle being that every other guest was seated around the restaurant. I asked her for something more comfortable that didn't have metal seating. During the entire dinner service, I notice the same host seating guests at preferable seating along the windows and no one sat in the middle (where she intended to seat us). It would have just been us the entire dinner in the middle of the dining room. Now on to the food... Nothing was actually edible. 5 star for Mary who held it down for the entire restaurant. She was a phenomenal waitress. However, the food, I took everything home to not insult the chef. The combination of ingredients for the appetizer and entree did not go well. Salmon was torched and practically burnt. My salad was great. It was probably the only edible thing I ate. Dessert? I got the mango sorbet... it was rock frozen. I have no clue who is running this restaurant but being that most of it is prix fix, most of the choices should have been easy to execute. Tori was our waitress, and later, we found out that she was so much more than that: owner, planner, manager, and actress. I'm probably missing something. She did great on all accounts. The food tasted amazing, nice presentation and the show was funny. Very intimate and comfortable setting. I have to admit it's in a weird spot, and it was interesting watching water skiers as a pre-show. I think there's potential to add some better lighting for the evening. There's an interesting blend of classy and casual. I think this is a great concept and establishment operated by hard-working and talented women. **Murder Mystery Dinner Review** I have been dying to try Sylver Spoon for a while. December 2022, I finally booked a reservation for a Christmas Themed Murder Mystery Dinner. OMG it was a blast!!! I (7 months pregnant at the time) invited my husband, sister, and brother-in-law for a night of dinner and fun. When we checked in with the host, we were handed envelopes with our "character", a quick synopsis of our story, and instructions. Everyone plays a part in the murder mystery dinner and the culprit could be anyone among you. Participation is key, expect to have a busy dinner talking to everyone in the room. My group and I had so much fun, we were laughing the whole time, and we enjoyed the whole experience. The tickets to the Murder Mystery also included dinner (with optional add-ons to pay for) The dinner was wonderful, I have never had Brussel sprouts that taste THAT good! At the end of dinner and the Murder Mystery, there were awards given out to some of the best performers and best dressed patrons that took their character seriously. My husband won one of the awards and we got free theatre tickets for Sylver Spoon's productions. We are excited to go back for another experience! read more

Before I start this review, I will acknowledge my opinion will be unpopular, and I'm sure some will read it and think I'm crazy. I will preface this review by stating up front, the food here was amazing. This evening the wife and I attended a Top Cats banquet here with my beautiful and amazing daughter. The wife and I grabbed a seat and after some small talk with a few Top Cat moms, we browsed the menu. The menu is $35 a person for dinner, and $20 for lunch. The setup is a three course meal (appetizer, main dish, and dessert). There are upgrades on the menu for an added cost for a premium side or better main dish option. There is also a great selection of alcoholic beverages and attractive cocktail options. They also have fountain drinks, but beware, they are not refillable, and they will not warn you there is a charge per drink. Considering the mark up on fountain drinks is already high, the margin for profits works in their favor. I considered this to be a cheap shot. The wife ordered the 2 piece Fried Mozzarella , the Roasted Garlic Chicken, the Side Sexy Mac, and the Peanut Butter Mousse Tart. I ordered the same appetizer and dessert, but I opted for the Beer Cheese Burger for my main course. The Fried Mozzarella came out and it tasted amazing. The presentation was amazing, the mozzarella tasted was perfect with a nice crunch to it, and was topped on a nice marinara sauce. Not one complaint. Wish it was more than two pieces! Shortly thereafter, our main dishes arrived. The timing was impressive, and again, the presentation was amazing. My cheese burger was thick, juicy, and was complemented very well with the beer cheese. The cheese was perfect, and had a nice subtle kick to it. The fries it were paired with played second fiddle to this burger and were just your regular fries. Perfectly seasoned and crunchy, but the burger stole the show. My wife's dish was another story. While the presentation was phenomenal, the wife said her vegetables were cold and hard. Not long after, I glanced at the table to the right of me and saw the steak someone else had ordered and it looked out of this world. Steak was an additional $15 up charge. We then realized we did not get our sexy mac (mac and cheese with four different cheeses and bacon). We were just discussing removing it from the bill, when it arrived late to the party. Already half full, we still gave it a shot and tried it. Again, presentation was perfect. The right amount of cheesiness, with a little extra flavor just so you know this mac and cheese came to win. The wife and I thought it was pretty good. It had a little too much of a garlicky taste for me, and the wife thought it was a bit salty. It did have a nice little subtle spice kick as the cheese burger, and did like that. Definitely would order again. Lastly, the peanut butter mousse tart. The presentation was amazing. However, considering it was in a pie like presentation, it was served at the wrong temperature. The fork cut through it, and the texture seemed off. This dessert seemed like it needed to be served cold. Our guests across the table noted their cheesecake was served in a similar fashion with their dessert turning to mush when the fork cut in. The desserts tasted great, however, they were a bit underwhelming considering their price. We received the bill and were hit with $12 in soda fees for the three fountain refills we got. Again, no warning for the per drink charge that is customarily free at a restaurant with soda. Again, a cheap shot. We handed the waitress my credit card to which she handed me an electronic drive to fill out and sign. When she handed me the device, it requested a tip starting out at 20 percent and went up to 25. To the untrained eye, it would have been easy to just assume those where the only choices, and forced to abide by a higher than the industry standard (which to me starts at 18, not 20). I figured out how to make the device accept an 18% tip, signed the bill, and left. After food, drinks, tips, taxes, etc., we were out the door $114 lighter in the wallet. Overall, again, the food: amazing. The presentation: some of the best, and my pictures do the dishes no justice. However, this place was priced too high. If I'm paying high prices, I expect perfect plates with no cold vegetables. I also expect sides to arrive on time as well. The food was really good, but not your average Joe can afford to eat here. The price point for this place is way off, and for $114, I could have gotten two steaks and a fancy steak house for that much. The portions also could be a little more generous as well. While we enjoyed the food, this will be a one time experience for us. Great food, would recommend for anyone. We, however, will not be back. Give this place a try. But bring money. Enjoy! read more

Went for a Mother's Day treat and it really just burned a hole in my pocket. It was a $260 experience for 2. Keep that in mind. That took away from a lot of it. For the price paid you'd expect the inside to look like a five dining experience, but inside looked more like an outdated diner. It was busy. People coming and going from another area outside. There are no curtains to block the sun. Rather miserable sun glare. I told them about the lobster being raw. To Two people. Not one person cared or addressed the issue. Just a smile and an uneasy laugh. Pretty sad for a $15 upcharge. I really expected for it to be cooked. They have an odd menu. It's hard to figure follow. Mostly different packages. Hard to buy al-a-cart and know what you'd be spending. It almost seems designed that way. The show was nice. They did a good job. It was funny. It's a unique experience. There was a singer the night we went. He was entertaining. The music made communication with your date or wait staff difficult. For the price of it. I doubt we'll be back. This was our second time. We asked the server multiple questions about the menu because it is little confusing if you are a first timer, because it is theater based menu. (Creat your own story) The server really didn't know how to answer any questions... or knew how to navigate the menu. Which that's a bummer :/ It was a date night for me and my wife. We ordered a crab cake (which we didn't know that 1 was $16 because the menu doesn't tell you). Order their garlic aïoli mushroom that was deep fried and their garlic aioli was really spicy! (On the menu doesn't say that it's deep fried or it's spicy) I had a half of it and couldn't finish. And I love mushrooms. We did get the fillet on the salt rock! Which tbh it did not look like a fillet cut due to a lot of fat! I had to chew some fat off the meet at put it on the plate:/ sorry. My wife spent $250 for both of us for a 3 course meal with a 20% gratuity. For that service and food wasn't that good in my opinion. I respect a lot for local people that are working hard!! I had heard nothing short of amazing about this place, and finally had a reservation for a double date on New Years Day for what we thought would be brunch (I had messaged them and then saw elsewhere they were doing brunch). Well, we showed up and no brunch. Bummer. We all really wanted brunch, especially since the other couple with us was just there for dinner and wanted something different. Also, the tables were super close together so it felt as if the table next to us was a part of our party. I get it's a small place, but during COVID (and waitstaff not wearing masks), I was a little put off. I'm not even one of those pro or anti maskers. Just wanna follow the rules. The 3 course meal (plus an app to share) were all SO flavorful and rich. I loved all the flavors that went together. Really delicious, except all of my dishes (minus my Sexy Mac and dessert), were all room temp. Not even warm. That was disappointing. Meanwhile my husband had a super hot sizzling salt block steak. I was envious. The cocktails left a lot to be desired. I tried 2 different ones off their menu (thinking I just picked the wrong one), and both made me think of a college house party. Just too sugary and not much booze. I couldn't finish the second. Maybe we hit them on an off day, but with all the advertising I saw on social media for NY Day, I expected more. There is a water ski park nextdoor and you can sit in the dining room and watch the skiers in action. It is off the freeway for easy access but sits in a "country environment." Today, my husband and I visited for the first time for BINGO! They were super busy, which I was glad to see! We tried a few different wines and the mimosas. My husband and I both did the $20 3 course meal. I ordered fried mozzarella, beer cheese burger and cheesecake. I can 100% say EVERYTHING I got was outstanding. So good, that I wish I had more of it all. My husband got the frog wings, fish tacos and peanut butter pie. He liked his food, he just eats more than than he received so he was a tiny bit hungry after. However, his food was still good! Our waitress, Sam, was amazing, very knowledgeable on all things Sylver Spoon. Not only was she great, but there were a few ladies that checked on us during our time to fill up waters and get more drinks. Overall, it was a tiny bit more expensive than I anticipated prior to visiting, but I would go back, because it was delicious. I chalked it up to a "rough night" for the staff...... but tonight was even worse... ordered my appetizer and they brought the wrong thing.... I told the waiter what I ordered and they said "oh we're out of that so this is what they are giving you"....... rather than come out and say hey, there's four more options would you rather one of these they just happen to pick the food category that makes me gag...... first visit the Duck L'Orange was amazing...... this visit it was COLD... and undercooked! I have to be honest. I really wanted to like this place. I've heard nothing but amazing things from friends and online reviews. So I thought for a treat I would take my wife and kids out for dinner for Mother's Day. What an utter mistake..... When we first walked in it took a few minutes to be noticed and to be seated. The view of the ski lake was nice but their air conditioning needs help. They had huge fans stationed indoors to keep the air moving but it was by no means "cool". There was a table seated on their patio outside and to be honest I felt sorry for them. As I looked around I saw all of the seated tables had nice water glasses. We were stuck with very small cheap plastic cups that held just a few ounces at best and were never brought actual glasses. Before hand I was told the kids menu had cheese tortellini and chicken tenders on the menu. The kids were excited for the cheese tortellini, but much to our dismay they didn't even have it. It was chicken tenders and buttered pasta. My daughter had the buttered pasta and we found a piece of plastic in it. My sons chicken "tenders" were actually nuggets that looked like they had been pulled from the frozen section at HEB and tasted like garbage. The appetizer consisted of two small room temperature (not chilled) shrimp cocktail. The second course was a tomato bisque that had so much pepper in it, it was almost inedible. Not to mention the portion size (in picture) was laughable. It was just enough to cover the bottom of bowl they gave us. We had to go through several rounds of ordering our entrées because they kept coming back saying they were out whatever it was we ordered. I wound up getting the Duck á l'orange and my wife got the cheese tortellini (apparently they had it for adults). I really wanted to get pictures of the entrées because they were plated quite nicely but I was trying to wrangle kids at the moment. The duck was not Duck á l'orange, but rather a roasted and over seasoned hindquarter that was lukewarm served over a puree of overly sweetened sweet potatoes and nearly burnt brussel sprouts. My wife enjoyed her tortellini but the portion for the price was ridiculous. Lastly was the desert. On the menu it said bread pudding, but what came to our table looked like the leftovers of whatever they call bread pudding crumbles. It was pretty terrible as far as bread pudding goes but my kids loved it and ate it. The overall experience was terrible and WAY over priced. The service was mediocre. At one point while waiting to cash out I saw our waiter sitting down and eating. The fact that an automatic 20% gratuity was added to the bill pissed me off. Our Thanksgiving dinner left a lot to be desired. Food arrived to our table cold. We we're missing a course. The wine pairings did not compliment the food courses well. Hubby requested togo boxes to take food home to properly season and heat his food. The restaurant seemed unclean/dusty. A child was bringing our food out to us. We had to flag him down to bring us out meal vs taking it to another/ wrong table. We were not impressed with the experience. We regret this was our choice for our holiday meal. I wanted to take my wife out for a nice date night, and we were torn between the "ultimate date night" on Wednesdays and the "Murder Mystery" on Sundays. Due to the Wednesday being more personal and romantic, we went with that. We were the only people in the entire restaurant, and the food was nowhere near what should be expected. Originally we had paid the 99$ up front, and once there there were upcharges on a lot of the good choices. All in all I spent over 170$. That was not including the tip. I am 100% sure that the "filet on a salt block" was not a filet. It was so dry that neither my wife nor I even ended up eating it. I grill all the time, and my favorite cuts of meat are the fillet and ribeye, so I am well aware of what they are. I could not have been more disappointed in the entire experience, but at least my wife and I got to go out and enjoy each others company. The owner posted acting like she wanted to make it better, then was extremely rude when my wife contacted her, and offered for me to take this down. You will never get a penny of mine, nor anyone else I am able to let know about you. I was nice about the review compared to what it should have been (including the bugs on the table, ants and beetles), too... We purchased the dinner and theater package. When we got to the restaurant they had an Elvis impersonator playing in the restaurant (which prevented us from having a quiet conversation). There was no theater show because the stage manager was out on maternity leave. Seriously??!!?? You knew when we changed our reservation that he/she was out on leave. You could have notified us before we arrived that there would be not theater performance. None of us are Elvis fans, we didn't get what we purchased. Very disappointing. Way over priced for what we expected. Left early at the beginning of the performance because it was just too noisy. read more

Visited for music trivia brunch with the girls and we had lot of fun. We were 1 of 3 groups that were there so if we didn't have a big group it would have been very quiet and dead. The food was fantastic but the drink options were lacking. We were also pretty hot in the corner and could have used a fan! Overall fun! My girls definitely made it the best experience! read more

We had a great time watching Yuri's life explode! Loved the writing in the play! The first dish in our 4 course meal was great! It was the Barbacoa potstickers! Fresh and delightful! The salad was great but not for everyone, the beets and mangoes mixed kind of differently texture-wise and they were honestly slightly frozen. (Not the most fresh) The chicken cordon Bleu was tough and most likely reheated. (We were on one of the last nights of this special I think) I'm positive that when the food is on, it's epic and wonderful. We will definitely return but probably on a new menu cycle and not the last of ending ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will return to see what's next! My first time here and it was not a great experience. The entrance is around back but covered in spiders . Do not hold on to the ramp post because you'll have webs tangled in your fingers . Our table was not leveled so my drink spilled a couple of times onto the table. The food looked amazing but was seriously lacking in taste . We arrived for a group event. Price of plates ($17) and selection was pre determined. upon arrival we were told the selections had changed. I did not ask if the price changed. I ordered one of the two selections and was charged $50 for that selection. It also took 1 hours and 45 minutes for my plate to be served. The whole event was over and people were leaving and I received my food. Manager was unwilling to honor the price of the pre determined plates even though I was told by the serve server what my choices were. Overall horrible experience. Would not go back. read more
