We live in Canyon Lake, and have eaten here on numerous occasions, and our experiences have mostly been positive. Unfortunately, I can't say that about yesterday's meal. We went for lunch and my wife and I ordered the special - grilled snapper, grilled shrimp, lobster ravioli and a crab cake. After waiting almost 40 minutes for the food to arrive, our server let us know that that the kitchen had put cheese on our meals - we had requested no cheese - so they were re-plating our order. When we got our food, it was pretty obvious the fish had been kept under a warming light (or something) and it was way over done. Also, the ravioli had cheese in it, and we weren't told about that. There were only 4 or 5 other tables, so we couldn't understand why it was taking so long, and our server didn't communicate with us about the issue. Stopped in Elio's Pizzeria for lunch and sat in the bar area because the place was so full of people. That is always a good sign. My husband had a pepperoni pizza and I had the pesto pasta with chicken. Everything was soooooo good. Our server was especially wonderful. She took such great care of us. The ambiance was so beautiful and they have a very nice outside seating too. So cozy and comfortable that we can't wait to come back and enjoy another meal. read more

Really good thin crust pizza. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. The pastas looked nice too.

Enjoyed the Mediterranean salad and our server was nice. However, the service that we received in general was just fine (hence the 3 stars). It didn't seem like folks were particularly friendly here and not sure if the pizza makes up for it. The focaccia bread crust is wonderful and will definitely fill you up! They won't take reservations unless you have a larger party, so be sure to get there early. Pickup orders are served at the heat lamps. read more

Finally made it over to Elio's and had a wonderful lunch. We sat outside which had nice ambience except for the busy highway yards away. We had great and friendly service, and the pizza was interesting but a little light on the chicken and could use some more spices (I assume they were relying on the garlic cream sauce which I barely noticed. I recently moved to Canyon Lake. I was fortunate enough to grow up in beautiful Santa Barbara. Elio's Pizzeria has excellent food. The Ambiance reminds me so much of SB. Place is not kid friendly, and has it always been this slow? Also tables packed way too close together, and seats could be a whole lot more comfortable (especially if you're waiting 30+ min for a cheese pizza). Be careful of your little ones, the cheese on the pizza is molten lava and slides right off, will give a child 2nd degree burns. Server wasn't great. Our salad and our main meal had large mistakes and needed to be taken back. It doesn't really bother me all that much, but come on, we've already waited 30 min for the food. Everybody's experience is different, though I WILL say that, consistently, it seems the floors aren't cleaned very well, you CAN be sure to be swarmed by flies before, during, and after your meals. They could at least bring in those little flies swatters. read more

Stopped in to order some food to-go as I was working remotely at the cigar shop across the street. Walking in, I was assaulted by the smell of delicious pizza and pasta! Everything that walked past me on the way to other tables looked and smelled amazing! I ordered the Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken and it was delicious! Lots of juicy flavorful chicken on top of a bed of greens, tomatoes, olives and capers. Just the way I like it. Could have stood some feta cheese, but thats just me nit-picking. Second time in and our experience today was much different than the first. When we arrived the place was pretty busy. Estimated wait was 45 minutes so we grabbed a drink and waited outside. It was nice out and our wait was probably a bit less, maybe 30 mins. The drinks, I had a sangria and hubby got an old fashioned, both very good! We were seated outside and Jamison was our server. Jamison was great, very friendly, attentive but not overbearing. He even offered if we'd like some fresh bread while we waited. We obliged and he brought out fresh focaccia. It was warm and so good! Hubby ordered a pepperoni pizza, I got the steak special and we got the kids pasta of the day. A few notes on the food: The pizza is great! The kids pasta despite having it with "red sauce" before we were told "red sauce" is not available for the kids. Uh what?! My steak meal was delicious, cooked very well. Jamison came back to double check that I wanted my steak medium well as Mr Gennaro wanted to make sure I had the best experience. I appreciated that but still wanted the original temperature. The steak came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. I was told when I asked for a steak knife that they currently did not have any but they are working on that. Mr Gennaro actually sent me a knife from the kitchen to use! What!! I was super thankful though it wasn't completely necessary. For dessert we had the Italian Crème Cake and the Almond Tiramisu. The Italian creek cake was so light and moist, the frosting not too sweet. We didn't get "Tiramisu" from the Almond Tiramisu, it was good, the Almond flavor was definitely there. Had a perfect experience at Elio's! Three friends and I ordered the crabcake and shrimp pasta special and limoncello cocktails. The crabcakes and shrimp were cooked perfect and the pasta was delicious. Our waiter was so patient and helpful with suggestions (wish I remembered his name, an older gentleman with an accent). We ate outside on the patio and they offer the fly swatter fans to help with bugs. Will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area! read more

I went there with my family tonight for dinner, I ordered grilled chicken with pasta and pesto sauce. I took 2 bites and felt like I was going to vomit, every bite I took I literally felt like I had a mouth full of oil. I ordered bread to go with it, when I touched the bread I literally had to wipe my hands because that was absolutely dripping with oil too. I am currently laying on the couch with serious stomach cramps and feeling like I'm going to vomit. To make matters even worse it was possibly the most I've ever spent on dinner, for 4 of us it came to over $200, so I have just paid $200 for possibly the WORSE food I've ever had that has made me feel sick. So I would not recommend, in fact I'd recommend McDonald's before I'd recommend this awful place. read more

Update: we get a pizza at least once a week. Great pizza. Today we ate in the restaurant. We started with the Calamari which was excellent. Split a strawberry salad. The salad was too sweet almost like a strawberry pie texture. Over dressed. Way too sweet. I had the Tuna with crab raviolis stuffed with crab meat and shrimp. My husband had the crab cake with pasta and shrimp. The Tuna was not cooked correctly. It needs a hot sear almost black from the grill and medium rare center. All of dishes were heavy on sauces and salt. Service was excellent. Well, we were disappointed in the food. I don't think we will be back for the menu items. Took a drive into the Canyon Lake and Sattler area and came upon Elio's. Walked in and was immediately greeted with a smiling face and a welcoming Megan, our server. She was perfect! My wife chose the crab cake, shrimp, and pasta daily special. The crab cake was outstanding, full of crabmeat. I played it safe and ordered a pepperoni pizza on the grilled crust. Very good and plenty of cheese and pepperoni. I normally don't eat the crust, but this time it was too good to leave on the plate. A nice surprise was the focaccia bread prior to the meal. Went for lunch. The food is always great. Had a crazy situation that I've never witnessed before.... a door dasher ordered lunch for he and his wife he proceeded to pickup and demand to be seated and eat their lunch at a table on the patio. I guess this was so he wouldn't have to tip and got some sort of discount. His wife wore socks no shoes and felt somehow she was being discriminated against. The wait staff still had to take care of them so that was crazy business! God bless the servers in Canyon Lake. We had heard good things about Elio's and so we tried carryout. While picking up, I got an overall feel of the restaurant that made me want to come back to dine-in. The outdoor dining area was expansive and very welcoming. Being a Friday night, the kitchen was really hopping with activity. I can't accurately describe the pizza we had, other than to say it was one of several that were oval in shape and had ingredients I've never before had in a pizza. Excellent. While waiting for the bill, I spotted the desserts on offer and just had to get the berry cup with a sort of custard beneath. You could make a meal on their desserts. We will be back! read more

This is my second visit, and I give both visits five stars. I had the salmon with the shrimp and veggies. I absolutely loved the veggies. If you can say that about a restaurant then they've got it going on. The salmon was excellent too. I'm going to try a specialty pizza next time. I have to tell you all that we wanted to replicate our first experience just a few months ago. It didn't happen. Last time we were recommended to try a fire roasted pizza by the wait staff. Beyond excellent. This time the person had no clue what we were talking about! The pizza we got was NOT THE SAME IN ANYWAY! It was just meh! The salad was fresh and excellent. However, the pizza had much less toppings and was similar to the pizza at Gennaro's- a sister restaurant. The pizza is great, service is great and has a nice ambiance! It is definitely busy on a Friday and Saturday night, so be patient.

Love their focaccia pizza, homemade, fresh and gourmet. I like brisket pizza. They also have great homemade desserts!

We ordered takeout pizza. One 16" pepperoni and one 16" supreme. Seemed a little pricey for pizza at about $30 a pop. Especially after we'd looked at their website menu which listed the supreme at $19. That was quite a surprise at pickup. Pizza was tasty, crust was a touch doughy for me, but had a nice taste. Wouldn't categorize as great. Will hold my opinion until we try some of their more traditional pizza offerings, like the Margherita, Calabrese and the Bianca. Might also make a difference if we dine in versus taking out? Not sure. But, living in River Chase it's nice not to have to haul all the way to NB for some pizza.
