Well, we picked one of the hottest days to go to Dana Point and rent bikes, but we were there and we said, get water. We were fine. We love this rental shop because they have the best high end bikes to rent. Now, they are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Some think they only do deliver, but you can go there if you want. We used delivery. The service is just great, and they make sure you are on the right bike for you and that you know how to use it. I needed that. I am disabled and they were great. They have great road bikes. They have the offer the best road bike rental fleets in Southern California. Some of their bikes are from Scott, Masi, Focus, and KHS. eBike Rentals. I went with an electric bike because of the heat and not being sure I would be able to pull this off in the first place. An electric bike is the best way to explore the City or the beach or wherever you want to ride. The comfortable pedal-assisted bike have a great seat. The business was founded in 2010. Renting relieves you of all the difficulty and cost of traveling with a bicycle, maybe the plane will not take it and give it back in one piece. These folks were excellent. They have great bikes and, just as important, great communication. If you are looking for something cheap, I don't know if Synaptic fit the bill. For someone who really rides (in my case, MTB) they really know their stuff. Great bikes (in my case, a Cannondale Scalpel) and superb communication. I have come to learn in renting mountain bikes that a great indicator of their dedication to the sport is the pedal choices made available to customers (not that I use anything wild). I've never seen more than here. With all the fun singletrack in the area, I highly recommend renting here for a good ride. read more

My mom is an avid cycler and when she came to town, we found Synaptic Cycles on Yelp for bike rentals (hard to find locally in LA because of Covid). We had the pleasure of working with Sean who drove the bike all the way from Dana Point to us here, delivering it to my building. Communication with him was swift, efficient, and he was remarkably kind. After a few days, Sean was even nice enough to extend the rental by a day and even went so far as to wait for my mom on pickup day when she tried to squeeze in one last ride before the rental ended. So I have always rode a bike in life but it has always been a beach cruiser. I never knew much about "serious" biking but I decided to take up a new hobby recently. However before I am going to go and spend a fortune on a "great" bike i took to yelp to see if I could find one to rent and try out before such an important purchase. I found synaptic cycles and figured i would call to check it out. I spoke to Greg who was incredibly informative and nice. You can tell he is passionate about what he does by the tone and the extent of his knowledge on bikes alone. BUT that is not the best part, this business delievers the bikes to your door! it saves me time from trying to go to a store and look silly trying to pick the right one when I didnt even know what i was looking for. Instead Greg asked me some questions to get a better understanding of what a good fit for me would be. Then he showed up with two different models for me to try. I ended up using the Focus Cayo Evo with Ulitergra Di2 components. I only knew this thought because of my invoice haha. But that bike was amazing!!! It rode incredibly smooth and Greg even adjusted it for me on every level to make it a perfect fit. I called a few places and this place was open earlier and later than any of its competitors which was a selling point for me because i work a standard job. I called about three places before i picked synaptic cycles mostly because the customer service. it really is a huge selling point for me. I hate when I call somewhere and I am new to biking and they make it sound like I am bothering them with questions. I decided to rent the bike for a whole week to really get a feel for it to see how much i enjoyed it and im sold!! I am buying my very own this weekend! Also side note: synaptics is great for anyone who is traveling out of town and wants a professional bike for a race or triatholon, what other competitor is going to deliver and pick the bike up from your door?! Great service. I had to be in LA for work and wanted to continue riding without bringing my bike cross country. I rented a Focus Cayo for 10 days and am very satisfied. Greg dropped the bike off at my door as promised and the measurements were accurate. He's very friendly and easy going and he provided a stand up pump and two extra tubes, canisters and tire levers. The bike was in great condition and the di2 is especially a nice touch. The pick up and drop off times were flexible to my schedule. Overall a great experience. It's a bit of an indulgence to rent a bike on vacation but I'm a cycling addict so I really had no choice and Synaptic has the best rates by far. read more

I was treated to a gorgeous carbon fiber Focus Cayo with ultegra Di2, which was a better bike than what competitors were offering, but Synaptic was cheaper in price and included delivery and pickup!! I had a trip planned to LA and found Synaptic Cycles Bicycle Rentals online. I emailed Greg and soon we had setup a dropoff date/time. When Greg showed up at my hotel, with my bike, it was in perfect shape. He had set it up to match the sizing of my road bike, and he nailed it. It felt like I was on my own bike, except the Focus Cayo with di2 was a much lighter, snappier, smoother-shifting ride. I was blown away riding the di2! I mentioned a couple of roads I was thinking about riding and then Greg pulled out his phone and showed me a couple of routes in the area. I chose a hilly loop in the Santa Monica area that he recommended - the ride was beautiful and challenging - exactly what I was hoping for! I had an early flight out the next morning, but Greg had already setup the pickup with the hotel. He made all the arrangements and everything worked out very smoothly. I would highly recommend Synaptic Cycles for anyone visiting the LA area - or even LA locals just wanting to rent a high end bike to see what it's like. Good road bike rentals are hard to find. Found Synaptic on the web. A few good reviews, nothing on Yelp. Incredible find. Rental includes delivery and pick up of perfectly set up, high quality road bikes. Made rental arrangements entirely by email. Responses to inquiries were prompt and helpful. Online form used to provide complete set of measurements to ensure correct frame size and seat height and setback. Variety of pedal and saddle choices. A Focus Cayo (carbon monocoque frame) with Ultegra Di2, good enough Fulcrum wheels and my exact seat (A new appearing Fizik Arione - I brought my own pedals) was delivered to my hotel just as arranged. Fit was perfect. Bike was great. Arranged very convenient pick up on my way to airport. Cost was less than cost of bringing my own bike and less than any other rental quote I obtained.
