I would not recommend anyone to ever get involved with synergy. Completely awful experience with them. Still has not been resolved 6 months later. They refuse to return phone calls or emails sent regarding money they owe us for a major screw up. Their customer service is absolutely horrible. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time and energy trying to resolve matters with them. This all happened because they dismantled my furnace instead if replacing a pipe(cost 800$+ to repair). I asked them to pay HALF. They ( jake holt?) argued with me for weeks about it not being their fault. Finally after providing them with written proof from kel-aire, and a contact at kel-aire. They said they would cut a check only after I threatened to report them. Weeks went by, no check, I had to call again repeatedly as to why. Only to result in another refusal to pay from jake holt. Who told me weeks previously "the checks been cut" I then was put in touch with a man named Edgar , who was at least more polite. He assured me it would be resolved. I sent him the kel aire info. It's been two months I've repeatedly tried to contact them still nothing not even a phone call. In addition to this the actual work they did was "iffy at best" which isn't to reassuring when you're dealing asbestos. Don't let these people near your home is my best advice to anyone out there. read more

Synergy Enterprises was recommended to us by Atticare, an insulation removal company. We needed someone to test vermiculite in our attic to determine if it contained asbestos. SYNERGY DOES NOT FOLLOW LEGAL PROTOCOLS AND THEIR NEGLIGENCE PUT OUR HEALTH AT SERIOUS RISK. First, the person who was sent out to collect the vermiculite was not a CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant). In other words, he was not certified to collect material for reporting purposes. Second, Synergy is an abatement company. As a result, they should not legally be doing testing at all. They "got around" this conflict-of-interest law by sending the sample to an outside lab. Still, it is not legit. Third, their employee took ONLY ONE sample of vermiculite. Vermiculite itself does not contain asbestos. The issue is that most of the vermiculite in the US is contaminated because asbestos ran through the mine at Libby, Montana, where 70% of the vermiculite used for US home insulation came from. (This mine is now a Superfund site.) The legal requirement is that a company take a minimum of three samples; even if homes have asbestos in their vermiculite, it will not be found in every sample. After testing ONE sample, Synergy sent us a lab report saying that our home was free from asbestos. Not knowing better, we allowed the insulation company to remove the vermiculite without abatement. Only later did we find out that Synergy's policies placed our health at serious risk. We hired an air quality engineer to test the air in our home. Because the insulation company did a poor job of insulation removal, we still had vermiculite in our attic. The air quality engineer took samples - and told us that he feared for the worst. He said the EPA recommendation is to consider ALL vermiculite to be asbestos containing and to proceed accordingly. We moved out of our house for a week while awaiting test results. Although we were fortunate--our home was not contaminated--we know how bad it could have been. Asbestos contamination would have put us at increased risk for a deadly form of cancer. And asbestos abatement is not an easy process: all soft products (think carpets, upholstered furniture, pillows, possibly even mattresses) and all items with a fan (think refrigerators, computers, TV sets) need to go. DO NOT TRUST SYNERGY TO TEST YOUR HOME FOR ASBESTOS, AND IF THEY GIVE YOU A NEGATIVE LAB REPORT, DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE LAB RESULTS ARE CONCLUSIVE. We called Synergy based on a recommendation from our Realtor. Our home is older and contained asbestos in the heating pipes and no insulation in the attic. The estimator, Peter, came out and looked at everything and gave us a very good price and was able to schedule right away. We were expecting our first child and it was important to get this work done before the baby came. Peter assured us that all of the work would be done in one day and it was. Synergy was recommended by the HVAC company in April 2012. The main contact person was extremely difficult to get a hold of - for some reason I was given a cell phone number and not a company number- odd. After multiple messages I finally had to contact my person from the HVAC company b/c my furnace was going to be installed that week. Through this third party did my asbestos removal appt was actually made. The day of the removal, 2 men in an unmarked van pulled up in street clothing. They seemed nice enough and would be working underneath my house. After a short time they were complete, no paper work was given to me. I asked if I could pay and I was told "no" that a bill would be mailed to me. The real problem came with the payment. I received a bill for $400 a week or so after the work was complete. I called, this time a company number and left a message wanting to use my credit card (not wanting to pay cash or check b/c it seemed a tad sketchy). No reply, again a few days later I called and left another message. A few days go by and I do receive a voicemail from a woman to call her back about a payment. So I did and again left yet another voicemail. A few more days passed and I again another voicemail left with no response. I got busy w/ life and work and never called again - figuring they would call me since I left 4+ messages. Fast forward 5+ months later - no call, no letters, no follow up whatsoever! I receive a notice that I have been sent to a collection agency for failure to pay! Really people?!? After pitching a fit on the phone I was finally able to pay, no one could explain to me how this happened and no one really cared. Why am I doing the job of the billing/customer service dept? If they can't keep track of who has paid and who hasn't; I am hesitant to trust anything else. I wouldn't recommend using this company it may end up hurting your credit score. They did a great job removing both the asbestos and giant old gravity furnace from the sump area under my house. They were incredibly efficient and left the area absolutely clean. We called Synergy for asbestos abatement in our condo. Tyren came out the next day to give us an estimate on a Friday. My husband had been calling him all weekend, waiting for an estimate, that he said he would be able to give us Friday afternoon. He never got back to us. We were about to use another company as we were on a time crunch to get our condo ready. But Monday morning, we heard from Tyren. Estimate was reasonable and they were able to get started on the work next day. Asbestos guys came in Tuesday morning, right at 8am. Got started immediately to cover up everything. They came back Wednesday for the actual abatement, right on time again at 8am. They got done pretty quickly, before 5pm. Ceilings looked good. Thursday morning, I was expecting the drywall guys (different crew from asbestos guys) to come on time at 8am. However, they didn't make it till 11am. I understand there's traffic and things happened. A courtesy phone call would have helped. The guys were really nice though, so couldn't be too upset. They refinished our ceilings. I believe they had to take an extra day. So the job was a 4 day job, rather than the 3 days. If the job gets done correctly, can't blame 'em for the extra day. They used "knock down" to refinish the drywall. However, the next day, parts of the ceiling started to crack in some spots. It wasn't horrible but I wouldn't be able to live with it. I believe the issue was that it was painted with ceiling paint and the knock down finish wasn't dry yet and there was some moisture in our condo and outside during this time. This added to the cracking. My husband called Synergy to let them know. The project manager, I believe his name was Ron, came to take a look at it. He was very courteous and apologized for it. He said he'll send his drywall guys out again to fix the problem. And as a thank you/apology, they agreed to remove the asbestos that was left in our heater vents at no add'l cost, which we couldn't get cleaned because of the asbestos. We were told it will take about two days to fix and finish the job. Same drywall guys came and just as nice as the last time. They brought some heavy duty heaters to help dry up everything properly. They were able to get the work done within one day, instead of the two days. All looked great!! No cracking! Overall, they got the job done and were true to their word. Although, they were extra days added to the job and set us back with our move-in date and all the contractors working in our home, it was all worth it. read more

I had a very good experience with this company for removal of asbestos in popcorn ceilings. The gentlemen that did the work were punctual (in fact they showed up a little early both days) and were very friendly. They even hauled away some trash in my garage as a favor. I'm no expert on the process, but based on my observations, they did a good, professional job. We worked with Jake to remove the popcorn ceilings and vinyl flooring in an old home that we recently purchased. Jake was timely, professional, and efficient ... and his quote was a well priced for the high-quality work that was done! We had to do the asbestos testing prior to removal (I recommend sending it in yourself to Microanalytics for $55-75 per sample) to confirm asbestos. His team did a great job with the abatement and post-abatement testing within 24 hours. The dry wall contractors that we brought in after all raved about what a great abatement job was done and how much of the ceiling was left intact - they took care not to destroy the ceiling during abatement. The house was left clean with a layer of plastic hanging on the walls and floors so that the ceiling dry wall company could use this as well. Synergy often works with Acoustic Dry Wall to retexturize and paint the ceiling after abatement and if you call both, they can coordinate to do the work back-to-back (I wish I would have known this before as we had a 2 week delay in retexturizing the ceiling and had to pull up some of the plastic sheathing for other work being done). read more

Before we moved into our home, our attic had a history of a pigeon infestation. All of the insulation and venting had been encrusted with feces. Synergy was in charge of disposing the old insulation and replace it with new insulation. Even though, our attic is 4 flights of stairs to reach, the onsite crew covered with plastic, all the floors and stairs leading up. Keeping our carpets and floors clean! We could not have had a worse experience with this company when they did lead paint removal on the house we were renting as they exposed my entire family to lead dust. Because I have a two year old and a newborn, I was very concerned when our landlords decided to do lead abatement on the outside of our house. I contacted the health department's healthy homes division and they told me what I should look for to make sure we weren't exposed to lead and assured me that if they are certified to do lead abatement that they would take the proper precautions. I also met with a supervisor from Synergy before they started the process who assured me they would take the steps that were outlined by the health department (covering windows and doors with plastic, not allowing lead paint chips to land on any part of the house or lawn or garden because it would all be completely contained, etc). This was supposed to be a 4 day job and on the second or third day I got a knock at my back door when they were working and when I opened it there were lead paint chips EVERYWHERE and no plastic to be found. They were also sanding the paint off of the house and exposing everyone who walked by on the sidewalk and there was lead dust all over our window screens, porch, lawn, trees, sidewalk, etc. When I asked him where the plastic was that they were supposed to use he pointed to a small square of plastic covering a tiny section of the porch. We called the health department and they came out and wrote them up and told me they were completely shocked at what they saw and encouraged me to file a lawsuit against them. I had to have my babies tested for lead exposure and it took Synergy two weeks to clean up all of the lead dust that they were responsible for. They had to send a crew of men in hazmat suits and gas masks into my house to decontaminate it and test every surface and it ended up being a huge and scary ordeal when the could have prevented it by taking the precautions they told me they would take. DO NOT use this company for lead removal. Not only did they operate in an illegal manner, they were unsafe and their communication was horrible. They never told us which side of the house they'd be working on and which doors/windows we could use or not use and on the day that the men came in to decontaminate my house I had no idea they were coming or that I'd need to be out of my house that day for the entire day with a newborn. It was an unbelievably horrible experience. The only positive thing I can say is that they offered to pay for my children to be tested for lead and gave us a small amount of money to compensate us for the trouble- it wasn't nearly enough but at least it was something. read more

My experience with Synergy was rather frustrating. They needed to remove a small portion of drywall in preparation to water leak remediation in a bedroom. They took a week to do an estimate and another to actually schedule the work - which meant meanwhile mold was growing. When they finally came out, they did an OK job, but chipped paint on my ceiling when they stapled plastic to it instead of using tape. They promised air test result next morning, but did not deliver. I had to chase after them with multiple calls to get an answer - all the while other crews are staying idle waiting for "all clear" to start their own work. Their customer service is basically non existent: reception who answers the phone just sends you to some voice mail; they do not return calls, claim they did not receive emails; when you finally get to speak to a them they try to shift blame to labs and other contractors for poor turnaround time ... In a word - unprofessional. read more

I'm not rating them on their job performance because I didn't give them a chance to remove the asbestos. Why? Well, when I scheduled the asbestos removal, the time I was told the crew would be there was between 8 and 8:30 a.m. I asked off for the morning from work. I was told I'd need to be there to show them where the registers in the home were so they could seal them up. After that, they would be down in the area of the home where the asbestos is (none upstairs in the living quarters). Essentially, I didn't need to be there once the registers were sealed. Great! Day before the job is to be done, they call and say they'll be there between 10 and 11 a.m. Not ideal, but still workable. Day of. No show between 10 and 11 as promised. At 11:05, I call Jake, the man who gave us the quote and the man who called and said when the crew would be there the day before. I had to leave a voice mail. I just asked him what the status was. No response. At 11:50, the crew shows up. They seemed like perfectly nice men. However, being late, not returning phone calls, and not calling to say hey, we're late, doesn't exactly make me confident or secure in your doing this job, or being at my home while I'm at work. Not going to happen. I fired them. They got in their van and sat outside and waited. I got upstairs and guess who calls? Jake! Isn't it interesting how I called him, my boyfriend called him, and he didn't respond, but when his CREW calls, suddenly he's all over it? He claimed he was in a meeting, and then he asked what he could do to fix it. In my eyes, nothing. I don't trust you, I took time off work, you wasted my time, we're done. I told him to call my boyfriend. Which is a total waste of his time, because my boyfriend's done with him too. Perhaps he'll think twice about wasting future clients' time from now on. In all honesty I would have paid for the job if anyone in that company had bothered giving me the courtesy of a call to let me know what the status was on their arrival. It's common courtesy. If you can't do that, then I can't help you, and you're fired. read more
