I stop off here every once in awhile when I'm in the area and I need a quick lunch. The food, for the most part, is just average -- except their french fries! Their fries are amazing. Everything else is just okay. The kalamari, wraps, or burgers are what I usually go for. The serving size is generous and the service is quick and friendly. There's also a small parking lot outside, which can fill up quickly, but there's street parking available as well. I've never had anything absolutely terrible here, and I think their quality is consistent. I don't think any of their dishes will "wow" you, but if you're just looking for a quick, affordable, decent meal then this is a good place to checkout. read more

So, Syros is essentially a diner. When I think diner I think dirty, sketchy, prideless food. So, here's how a diner gets above 3 stars. The place looks nice, is always clean, the servers are always good, and the food shows a level of care. It's not heavy on greek stuff (I wish it was, actually) but the best thing on the menu is the souvlaki platter. Beware, sometimes the specials are not all winners. For example, I had a lamb shank there. It was very, very gross and I felt like I was in an anatomy class. However, if you stick to the diner essentials, you will be OK. It is what it is. I can take my kids there, and they'll get chocolate chip pancakes in the shape of mickey mouse for dinner and they freakin love it. Also, their fries are pretty much my favorite fries. Very nice Greek restaurant where we had a family brunch/lunch with some having french toast and omelet, and the rest lunch dishes. I had great avgolemono soup richcy filled with chicken and a greek side salad that had no cukes or potatoes....and fairly bland feta. My wife had spanikopita which she thoroughly enjoyed and I had a taste. Son-in Law had burger and was pleased. Nothing tastes homemade , all frozen Most of their customers are elderly who don't care what they eat! had corn beef and cabbage last St pats, 30.00 and used canned or frozen carrots , meat tough, but they are not Irish either. Syro's fits in perfectly among Lewiston's average-to-awful eateries, but has the unfortunate distinction of being a little more dirty than the rest. Every time i have been strong-armed into accompanying my better half to this stereotypical pseudo-Greek restaurant i have had to ask for a new fork or a new glass or a new plate because the dishwasher didn't do his job. The food is so ordinary and the service so sloppy that a glass of water is the safest way to go. i consider it an act of penance to have to watch my misguided and confused companion consume a grossly overpriced salad while i cautiously sip my water but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. So if you're not under the pain of death, you will be exercising your free will to great advantage if you avoid this place like the plague. What you end up settling for in town won't be much better but at least you don't have to worry about contracting a disease. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Lewiston! They have a very large menu so whatever you're in the mood for they have it. My favorite is their souvlaki wrap and of course their avgolemono soup! They also have really great breakfast. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I've never had a bad experience and I've been combing here for years. read more

They do not have eggs Benedict currently so don't be disappointed like my wife who saw it in the website and had her hopes very high. She will survive but it's been or going to be a difficult morning for myself and two sons who now have to do everything possible to make her day what we can but definitely we will have to increase our social distancing today!!! We had lunch at Syros on Saturday, November 11th. The food was good and portions were large. The Greek cheese pie lunch is generous enough for two with a nice sized pie, good serving I'd delicious Greek potatoes plus a large salad and pita. We shared an olive tapenade which was very hood and large. The highlight, and that s is what made lunch a true treat, was the service. Our waitress aid close attention to us, kept our beverages full and helped us pack up our leftovers. She was friendly and helpful without being overdoing it. Great job by her and the kitchen. Only giving this one star because you are required to. As a former employee I can verify that eating at Syros is a health risk. The kitchen engages in very disturbing practices including leaving raw meat out for unsafe periods of time in an already filthy kitchen. Gloves are scarcely used in the back. A friend of mine found a hair in his food his one and only time eating there. I will never go there again after working there. DO NOT GO. read more

Typical breakfast choices. I was in the mood for French toast so I ordered the short stack with a side of bacon. French toast was a little bland and I felt it could have been cooked a little longer, kind of mushy in the middle. Portion size was good, if not a bit on the large size. In fact everyone's plates were abundantly loaded. My bacon on was overcooked, extremely crunchy and dry. The coffee was really good. First time here! Place was clean- atmosphere was good- service was good. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki dinner. The chicken was dry and absolutely tasteless, Even after I drenched it in greek dressing. Not a lot of Feta on the salad either. My wife ordered Moussaka, She said it was very good but the piece they served her was so small it was comical. Great food! Best French fries ever. Our family of four was passing through and stopped in for lunch. We were well fed at a great price. Ravioli, spanikopita salad and a couple of chicken wraps. Great fish fry however the mashed potatoes and gravy were absolutely awful. It was like eating glue. No salt, no butter, no flavor. The amazing fish fry would have made up for it. However I was very upset that there was not a changing table in either bathroom for my baby. I ended up having to change him in the freezing cold car. I ordered the greek penne pasta and an order of mozzarella sticks to go. The pasta was incredibly mushy and tasted horrible. The mozzarella sticks were not fully cooked, but were edible. My husband called the restaurant and they asked us to drive back the pasta for a refund (we didn't even mention the mozz sticks). I would give it a 3.5 but I can't. Decent food, large portions and price is right. We went for an early dinner before an Artpatk concert. Two of us got the Greek salad and spanakopita. Salad was nice, all iceberg, but had olives, red onion, cukes, tomatoes and feta. A bottle of tasty Greek dressing was on the table. The spanakopita was tasty, but didn't have the multiple crunchy layers of phyllo dough. My son got fried shrimp and it was a generous portion served with fries. My other son got a fish sandwich also served with fries - they are the battered kind, ok, but worth "the best I have ever had" status? No. We agreed that we would like to come back and try the burgers or breakfast. I was a little afraid to try the gyro meat or souvlakis because I am a Greek food snob having lived near Astoria in Queens. This place would be a nice in between from a pizza joint to a more upscale restaurant. Kids menu, easily handicap accessible - young and old both would be satisfied here. read more
