The project manager did not have any timelines or status updates, and would provide inaccurate updates which was different from the dashboard updates within the City's website for permit application and review. The city's inspector also gave feedback that the PM and his team that worked on our pergola and outdoor bbq island project were very unorganized and chaotic, communication was very unclear and the permit applications were not timed strategically. read more

This is a review for the company System Pavers. They offered a free consultation where a representative, Scott Issersohn, came to our house and went over a custom design plan that fit our budget. As visual people, this gave my wife and I a great sense of what our backyard could look like. Scott is a great guy who is very sincere, personable and has a great personality. He has the "gift of the gab" so be ready for the appointment to last the entire slotted time. He has been with System Pacers for over 10 years and is very knowledgeable. You always wonder if they put their best employees, like Scott, in the sales department and if their project managers will fall short of what the sales team brought to the table. Once we signed the paperwork, we met our project manager, Javier Rodriguez. Javier has been with System Pavers for over 11 years and still worked in the industry before that. I am happy to report that the wheels never fell off the bus and Javier is a solid project manager. From the very beginning, Javier went over the plan with us and with Scott present which made for an easy transition. Javier and Scott work great together and it was fun watching them bounce ideas off of each other for the betterment of our new backyard. Since the start of our project, Javier has been there for us. He has made routine trips to our job site and has sent us regular updates, via text, of the progress from the beginning. As questions arose, Javier brought them to our attention promptly. He offered his professional opinion but also paid close attention to our wishes which ensured things were done the correct way and the way we wanted it done. If something was done differently than what we talked about (and there were very few instances where this happened), then he ordered the change immediately and without getting upset or showing any frustration. Javier showed us tremendous respect vs. just rushing to get the job done. He was also very patient with our demanding schedules and did not lose his cool if we did not respond right away, he patiently waited for us to answer his question(s). One such example of Javier's professionalism and honesty was when his work crew encountered an issue during the demolition stage. The pre-installed concrete that was present when we bought our house was very dense with rebar in the concrete which went over the allotment time for the demolition stage. Instead of charging us more money, Javier ate the extra cost to ensure we remained happy. Javier provided us both a piece of mind that we chose the right company and provided great quality of work. Javier has directed the repair of several other minor annoyances (from pre installed work of others) to tie in their work and right the wrongs of other contractors from the past. An example of this is when his work crew butted up their pavers to a side, cement walkway which we had installed when we first purchased our home. Clearly, their paver line was plum and the previous contractor's concrete line was off. Javier directed the application of concrete in this area to ensure a smooth transition from the previous contractor's work to System Pavers' work. One of the things I have really grown to love about System Pavers is, because they are such a large and experienced company, they don't nickel and dime you for every little thing They provide an estimate in the very beginning and stick to that as closely as possible. Javier also knows contractors in other fields and got us a screaming deal on tieing in electricity for a fountain installation down the road. While the job is not finished yet, we are very pleased with the quality and value of the work being performed and are extremely pleased that such an experienced and knowledgeable project manager, like Javier Rodriguez, is our project manager. If you pick System Pavers to perform work at your house (and I think you should), ask if Javier Rodriguez is available as the project manager to oversee your project, you will not regret it. Lastly, I wanted to briefly mention our work crew. They are extremely hard workers and are very respectful, They keep to themselves, and make efforts to clean up at the end of each day. I have seen pretty much the same employees from the start of the project and believe them to be regular employees of System Pavers. I feel this is important to mention because you want experienced people performing the work who are in tune with the progress and project goals, not a hodge podge of different people each day. Javier Rodriguez has also effectively managed them and is just as respectful to them as Javier has been to me and my family. Final product is outstanding. We use it every day of our lives. Biggest short coming is their organizational skills as a company. Our project was supposed to take 3-4 weeks. It took 4 months. We had different project managers on three different occasions. First crew said one thing, second another, and then the third. There was a good two months with zero communication. The EVO grill that we wanted was the biggest headache overall. Even with precise instructions down to the millimeter, it was not properly installed until we insisted. This was over weeks and being told to sign off on the project when it was not complete. We were told that having something special wouldn't be an issue. It was and it was the most important feature to everything built. Overall I would recommend them again. But when they move away from your vision and you are not satisfied, you will have to put your foot down. read more

Very disappointed with System Pavers' sales process. My review is for the sales process only, and not the quality of the work seeing as I will not be using them. Maria came out to give me a quote. Her communication was solid in advance of the appointment, including letting me know that she was running a bit behind. When she arrived, she took measurements, showed me some stone options, and explained their installation process. This is where the issues began. She asked where my husband was and why he wasn't there because "all decision makers must be present for this appointment," suggesting that I'm not capable of making a design choice for my own home. I shared that I was just as much a decision maker as he was, and she walked this comment back a little bit. The pressure to sign right then started immediately, even before I had a quote in hand. When I explained that I was in the process of getting quotes and would be making a decision later, she told me that she gets a "black mark" from her office if people don't sign within 5 days, and asked that I call the office to cancel my appointment (that was currently happening) if I wouldn't sign in that time period. She also told me how she'd be retiring soon and didn't want any marks against her. Again when questioned, she walked the comment back a bit saying "well just tell them another project like painting took precedence and you decided to do that instead." The number she left me to call ended up being for Medicare. Today, I got a call from the office asking why I had refused the appointment when she got to the door!!! I was absolutely floored that this lie was passed to the office by the sales rep, and very frustrating that she would claim this happened-my guess is she lied because I said I wouldn't be signing within a matter of days. Finally, I did it eventually get an emailed "quote" that gave me a likely price range and started with "well I see that the appointment never got cancelled, but I promised numbers so here they are." When I spoke with the office today, they assured me that this isn't how they do business. I do appreciate the follow up from the office, and I was able to share my experience with a manager. Hopefully they will be able to change their sales tactics, however, I will absolutely not be going with this company due to the sales experience. read more

The sales team (Charstan) who was very helpful in helping me select a design that best suites my needs, select materials and was patient in waiting for a decision, was friendly, honest and and demonstrated great knowledge about the System Paver process. When passed on to the execution team, there was no dissapointing there either. Charstan was there in person to complete the "handoff", and project manager Ricardo took it from there. He was prompt, friendly, thorough in explaining how the project was going to go. Ricardo was also available and very responsive to text inquiries. His team was fast, competent, and complete the project in good time ahead of schedule. The only bummer was that System pavers does not provide paver sealing services and they dont tell you so you have to ask. They installed the landscaping design of their fellow System Pavers designer, Sarah Slatter, for our new home that came with no existing landscaping in the backyard. It was a big job. This included pavers for a backyard patio & a pathway for the front/side of the house, pea gravel pathways with borders, angilia edging around the planting areas, & a gravel pad for a shed. They also had to bring in soil to level & build up certain areas. We were very happy with the quality of their work & the materials used, & the excellent service provided. Oscar's crew were hardworking & very respectful, & Oscar came on site every day to monitor the progress & communicate with us. I valued his knowledge & willingness to share his ideas & expertise. I am thrilled to share my exceptional experience with Ricardo from System Pavers. From the very start, Ricardo displayed a courteous and professional demeanor that immediately put me at ease, especially after having my initial misgivings with our designer Scott. (Just a brief word of advice, the designer that they send out to you doesn't really know much about the actual construction work or timeline, which I feel is a bit misleading. He kind of gave me the impression of a used car salesman, but the pricing was reasonable and I wanted the job done fast so I signed anyway. After we signed the contract, I literally never heard from him again even though he assured us at signing that he would be reachable every step of the way - if not more so than the construction manager.) HOWEVER, this is not to take away from the stellar work that we did end up getting. Throughout our backyard paver project, Ricardo consistently exceeded my expectations and demonstrated an outstanding level of skill and dedication and the end result is so worth it! Not only did Ricardo complete the project ahead of schedule, but his craftsmanship and attention to detail were remarkable. After receiving several quotes, we hired system pavers since they were very collaborative from the start in helping us figure out the right paver colors and design, a fair price point, and was very responsive. Our design consultant didn't come out to do a walk through with us and the project manager, however, which caused a lot of avoidable miscommunication and delays so be sure to have this person join. Also be sure to have everything you want documented in the design drawing. There were certain things we asked about that weren't drawn in or detailed in writing, which we wish we had known was needed. The pavers and turf ended up looking fantastic. They also have a 10 year warranty on turf installations and 25 year warranty on pavers. Even though there were a lot of bumps, our project manager Adrian continued to come out, keep us in the loop, and ask the construction crew to fix all the things that weren't up to our expectations. read more

I am a bit surprised system Pavers had such high rating. My experience has been far from 4 stars. I will admit the first impression is great, Maria (the designer/architect) came out and we went over the idea, and she provided an estimated quote. She was responsive and flexible. After a couple brief messages I had a formal quote in my mailbox and an increased pressure to sign in order to "protect" the price and guarantee the schedule. I had a large number of questions around the details of the design, which I was assured we can go through as we get closer to the project start date. Again she was very responsive and flexible, and that gave me confidence to sign the contract. The moment that docusign went in and I placed the initial deposit, there was radio silence. I had so many questions around the details of the design, the grading, laying conduit for irrigation, the layout of the pavers, etc, all unanswered. A couple days before the project start, the project manager Eli, came in to go over the project with me. I talked him through the various ideas, and again he was very receptive. As the project was getting done, I realized many items that I had conveyed to the architect had not been communicated to the project manager. Material was ordered incorrectly, the paver pattern was incorrect, and a few other details. Fortunately I had proof for all of these request and was able to show them when they questioned me about it. Soon the project managers tone switched from being flexible and receptive, to being very difficult to work with. As pavers went in, I realized the grading was all wrong, I thought these folks were professionals. The top of the pavers were higher than the fence line border (above the skirt). Water would pool in the fence. The side of the house was also too high, and the tilt on the pavers was incorrect as well pushing water into the fence (vs the lawn). See pictures for details. I could not recommend system pavers at the moment, fortunately concrete has not been poured and getting this fixed is still a possibility. But the pushback from system pavers to fixing it is slightly comical. I'd expect them to stand by their work and their name and take ownership of a mistake rather than blaming everything else. This is not a big project, about $15k, but I would expect that the entire design would not be done with just one brief 17 minute review with the architect, and that's it. I cannot recommend these guys for simple backyard hard scraping, perhaps they are more suited for larger projects where attention to detail is not required. read more

I have no question that System Pavers look wonderful and have an amazing product guarantee. I can, however, leave this screenshot of the arrogant message I received back, after I tried to do the right thing and let David E. know that we would be going with someone else. I think it's rude to leave people hanging, but that's just me I guess. He spent about 20-30 minutes of our consultation going over everyone else's poor quality - I don't believe you should have to do that if you are the best. Let your product speak for itself. Ironically the quote we chose was very close to System Pavers - but this company spent no time speaking about its competitors. We are SO pleased with the paver installation on our driveway, walkway, and front steps. It took about a week and each day was very productive in terms of progress. System Pavers offered great service from initial consultation, project management, installation, and final walk through. Javier was especially tentative and ensured a very smooth and safe installation process. (Thank you Javier and team!) The install was very well done and the details at the edges and curved areas are especially lovely. That walkway to the door feels much more grand as we filled in a planter and expanded the steps. So glad we did both the driveway and entry for a complete/finished look. Not only does it look great, but we resolve drainage issues by adding a drain channel and piping under the pavers (and a big reason of needing to redo the driveway). The steps made a big difference in our entry! The lower step was expanded, making it more safe than before (it was kind of a cliff previously). Overall, it was an investment in home value, aesthetics, and safety. I barely want to park my car on it. read more

My husband I used System Pavers a few years ago for a large outdoor living project which we loved. Recently, my elderly parents wanted to change the lawn in their front yard, side yard, and backyard to artificial turf. This seemed like the best fit for them considering they can't do much yard work anymore. We didn't bother to obtain any estimates from other companies since we loved the work they did on our house and trusted them. We also loved the professionalism and service they provided. For my parents' house, I dealt with Henry (sales) who was top-notch and with Javier (project manager). He made sure that we were able to get a good price on the job and was not pushy. Javier was amazing! During the time the job started my 89 yr old dementia mom was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Since I'm the main caregiver for my parents and still work full-time, I had to take care of everything and was going under water. I would give 5 stars on the pavers but only one on their crushed granite. They did a lousy job on the granite. We got the work done in 2014, spent a total of $70,000.00 on project. The whole area where the granite is infested with weeds and was told it was a maintenance issue. One year they added more granite and it became a giant cat box. They came out and removed it. I have seen other crushed granite projects and mine looks nothing like it. It doesn't matter if we put weed killer or not. The same thing happens every year. read more
