I've had Gary install stereo's with blue tooth hands free in two cars. Both jobs were excellent. He also noted that on my Ford, if I could find a used steering wheel he could add controls for the stereo (volume, mode, track/station) to the system. I said that would be great but wondered where to find a used wheel that would work, he logged on to Ebay on the spot and used his account to order one. He call when it arrived and did th installation of everything in less than an hour for the exact price he quoted. Doesn't get better than this. read more

I got my mom a gift certificate for a car starter for Christmas.We told him the year, make and model of her car. He asked if she had a spare key for it and we made it clear to him that she had ONLY one key. To have it done with one key was $245, with two was more expensive. So we got the one key certificate and he told us to get in touch with him after the new year for an appointment. It took forever to get in touch with him to make the appointment. When we finally got an appointment, he told us to be there early so mum went in at 8 am, 9 am, and 10:15 am, and nobody was there and the shop was locked. She tried calling at 9 and the phone just kept ringing and ringing.. then tried again at 10 and this time there was an answering machine stating that the shop opens at 9:30.. but like i said before, no one was there and the shop was locked at 10:15. My sister called later that week and rescheduled. The appointment was for today. My mom got there at 9:30 am. I left a few minutes after she did to pick her up, and she called me while i was on the way saying to forget it he couldn't put in the starter. He had told her that he needed two keys in order to put the starter in. My mom has a smart key system in her vehicle, so in order to get a new key it would have cost her $180. He also told her that he would have to keep the spare key. She told him that she wasn't going to get a new key made to hand over to him, and he told her "Well then I guess you can try to sell the gift certificate to someone else". When I got to the shop, I told her to give me the certificate. This guy put us through so much trouble, WHY would I want sell it to someone else and put them through the same problems? I walked in and said to him that we told him that she had only one key to begin with and he said that was ok when he sold us the certificate. He tried telling me "Well I must have misunderstood you." How do you not understand that there is ONLY ONE KEY?!?! He also tried to tell me to sell it to someone else. I told him no. I need a refund. There is no way that I would try to go to, or recommend anyone going to him. read more

I've had a bunch of people tell me how their remote starters have messed up their cars, or don't work right. I've had 3 starters put in by Miles and I never have any trouble with any of them, one of them I had for 10years before I got a new car. Gary's prices are better than competitors, but more importantly Gary Miles is honest, transparent, and works in the customer's best interest. I chose him to install a remote starter after reading his only yelp review (which was good) and calling around to get pricing from several places. He gave a flat fee quote and explained the cost of the unit & charge for labor. He also explained that unfortunately he couldn't fit me in for a couple weeks because he is a one-man shop and pre-Christmas is his very busy season, but I made the appointment for January anyway and I'm glad I did. AND, he does more than just remote starters. My dad was a car mechanic "guru," and when I first met Gary I recognized that certain something, so even though his specialty is electronics, I asked him for his thoughts about a different car I have with a heat problem. His answer showed me that he really knows his way around a car and has a lot of experience, but more importantly for me, he also knows how to save money, suggesting that he might be able to "Jimmy" something to avoid the high cost of replacing a part (in my opinion, any mechanic can replace, but the gurus can offer more options). So, after his busy season I brought that car in for him to look at. Gary explained it could cost $50-$60 just to check it out, and he couldn't really estimate price beyond that until after he knew what was wrong, but I was OK with that. In this case unfortunately my heater core turned out to be too far gone, but Gary back flushed it a couple times (I'm sure he spent nearly a couple hours) then called me with the news and options (including a cheaper "might work" option), and his honest opinion with explanation of how even a new core might fail a few months later, plus my car has other issues, etc, suggesting that it's not worth spending any more $ on this car. Total bill for all his time and advice ... $30. Not too often do you find a mechanic who is up front about pricing (and cost uncertainty), and is honest enough to tell you when you should stop wasting money on a car that's not likely to last.
