I happen to stop here before heading back to DC for lunch. I was craving Chinese carryout .... Something quick and simple ....like Chicken Waangs & Mumbo sauce. Yes, don't judge...Lol. This is something you know you can just about find a dime or dozen...on every block at various carryouts in DC, but I noticed that Chinese carryouts are definitely far and few in the Fort Washington area. So...Thank goodness I found this place before heading back home. It is located in a shopping center off of Route 210 & Old Ft Road. Although, not much to look at on the outside or inside, this place is legit. The food is the bomb and hellacious!! I walked in and was greeted by a lady behind a plexiglass counter and asked if they had "Waangs and Mumbo Sauce" of course they did not. I almost started to turn away and leave, but so glad I didn't. Instead, I asked about popular dishes that they were known for and she mentioned the salt and pepper shrimp was popular, the egg foo young, and typical dishes like chicken with broccoli and combo lo mein. So I decided to order the salt and pepper shrimp, combination, egg, foo, young and a general Tso chicken. The order was prepared relatively fast and well packed for my long drive back to DC. WELL....Let me just say this right now..... I knew the food was going to be bangin' (good) just from the smells alone coming from the bag before I even left the store. The smells and aroma of garlic, salt, spices, gravy and peppers....were screaming through the bag! I couldn't wait to get home. Each dish was well prepared, fresh and super-seasoned! I was quite surprised both by the layers of flavors in each dish. The food even remained hot and most of the fried items remained crispy...not soggy or mushy. I must say I did not expect much from this restaurant at the time of ordering, but they proved me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. In all, Asian Star gets "Two Thumbs Up!" from me! They offer a large menu selection of items including appetizers, noodle/rice dishes, vegetarian options and chef's specials. Given the customer service, large menu selection, price point and taste of their eats.... You can't go wrong with this place. It rivals any popular DC carryout any day.....hands down!! I definitely recommend this place and will be back when in the area!

The chicken with broccoli was solid- chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. Tofu with vegetables was fine, as was the mushroom with pea pods, but would probably get something different next time. The fried rice add on was definitely not worth getting.

This little restaurant in strip mall was a surprise. Dropped in for lunch. Three other patrons were there. So service was quick. Water and soon a complementary little bowl of soup was placed in front of me. Lemongrass soup. Spicy and fragrant with pieces of chicken and quartered mushrooms in a spicy broth. So good. My server, Gong said it comes with any protein that you might want from the menu. Next time I'll have it with rice and some other stuff. My appetizer of spring rolls were hot and crispy. Pieces of chicken and shrimp. Get them! I ordered my favorite Thai Basil Fried Rice. Huge shrimp and just enough heat to warm your tongue just a little. Also grabbed the pork Pad Prik Kra Prao from the lunch menu. Stir fried in a spicy brown sauce with green peppers and basil. Man, I did as much damage as I could. Gong asked if I was able to drive. I had read the reviews before I dropped in. All I can say is come see for yourself. If you like Thai cuisine and you're near the Fort Washington, Oxon Hills area...scoot up 210 and check in, I'll definitely be back to try more delicious selections.

The Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and Larb dishes are ver good! They have a long list of menu items; including lunch specials. The price is good too. Two standout dishes for me is the Bangkok Noodles dish and Duck Curry plate....both dishes are delicious and so flavorful....with the right amount of "Thai American" heat-spice level. I order these dishes on repeat when coming here! I highly recommend giving this place a try.

The owners were very kind, friendly, and attentive! There were a couple of tables inside, so we chose to dine in. Everything tasted fresh, not at all salty, and prepared with care and love. I'd love to try out their lunch specials and other chef specialty entrees on the next visit. Toi was well seasoned and slightly crunchy like I like it. It's sauce was genuine. It gets an "E" for excellent! The soup gets an "E" too. They used a chicken stock, not broth. Cooks know the difference and I am a cook. The dumplings were fried well, brown on one side and the pork filling was delicious. The pork fried frice was delicious. The rice was properly cooked with onions, bean sprouts, and fried egg. They made it the original way, no short cuts. The scallion patties were new to me. It was a little greasy and could have used a little seasoning. I heated them in the microwave on a paper towel and seasoned them with a little salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. Then it was really good! I will make this restaurant my favorite Asian restaurant for now on because their flavor meets my own

While the menu is expansive, many of the dishes are very similar, i.e. they have the same brown sauce as a component. Nonetheless, all the dishes we have tried are good. Orders are always ready for pick-up within 15 minutes. Service is very friendly. I haven't used the online ordering system because it is so easy to just call in my order.
