Szechuan in Auburn is one of our go-to spots for Chinese food. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and the portions are generous. We regularly grab takeout from here, and ordering online makes it so easy and convenient. The staff is friendly and everything is always ready quickly. They always make us feel like a valued customer. A great local spot we keep coming back to.

This is a cute little hole in the wall filled with pretty paintings for sale by the owners daughter, Linda Hao. The restaurant itself had a cute calming ambiance and the lighting was perfect not too bright or too dark. I didn't have a chance to take a picture of the food since we were all so hungry after a day of moving. We ordered a large egg drop soup, 6 vegetable egg rolls, big steamed rice, black mushrooms with broccoli, sesame chicken, chicken egg foo yung, shrimp with snow peas and vegetable chow fun. The egg drop soup was good and heart warming for a cold day. The egg rolls were crispy and hot. The service was very prompt and the waiter was attentive. He took away plates quickly, always filled our waters and asked if we needed anything. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some good Chinese food in the area.

    4. Kung Pao Chicken Combo Lunch Special

The food is really good and the people who work here are super sweet too! The vegetables still had crunch & the chicken was very tender.

    General's chicken

The restaurant was empty Sunday night so we got right in. Service was typical, somewhat indifferent, not overly friendly or rude. We ordered sizzling rice soup which didn't sizzle when the rice was added. When served, the soup was luke warm, not hot, hence no sizzle. While it tasted fine, we were hoping for hot soup, not warm soup. We ordered General's chicken that was also not very hot but had good flavor. I've noticed a general trend at Auburn Chinese restaurants to serve warm food rather than hot food. This is a deal breaker for me and I'll head to Roseville next time.

Ordered the Kung Pao chicken lunch special, including foil chicken, pork fried rice, garlic noodle chicken chow mien, egg roll & egg drop soup. Mrs. D had the same combo with cashew chicken. Served on an 11" platter,it was a mountain of food. Good, hot, fresh, and loaded with vegetables & chicken. As much as I love to eat,I was unable to finish. Having eaten Chinese in the SF /Oakland area for the past 20 years, I would rate this as pretty good & worth a return visit. We had a full meal to go & stopped to give it away to a homeless person. Go Hungry, or don't order the special!

FOOD - Walnut Shrimp: battered shrimp with candied walnuts…read moreover broccoli. The shrimp wasn't crunchy enough. Walnut shrimp is my go-to when I have Chinese food so I'm a little bit of a walnut shrimp snob. This was pretty mid. 3.5/5 - Mongolian Beef: beef with onions, red bell peppers, and bok choy. The flavor was pretty good. The beef was tender enough. 3.75/5 - Orange Chicken combo: orange chicken with chow mein, and egg roll. The chicken wasn't dry but not very tender either. The flavor was okay. The chow mein and vegetable egg roll were pretty standard. 3.5/5 - Fried Rice and 4 Dumpling set combo: the fried rice was, also, pretty standard. The pork dumplings were pretty good. The side of wonton soup was good. 3.75/5 SERVICE: Service was pretty fast and friendly. 4/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: Everything was okay. Nothing was bad, just nothing to write home about.

When I see Singapore chow mein on menu Is a plus. I love the curry spice & stir-fry noodle taste! Cordial staff- waited on me as a solo diner instantly. One thing I did notice was they didn't offer tea which is usually customary at Chinese restaurants. It's just an observation ( not a critique). Love all the original work of art on the walls. I felt like I was in someone's tasteful livingroom. Looking forward to returning after another hike in Auburn.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Auburn. Always friendly…read moreservice! Relaxing atmosphere. Clean Delicious food. Gluten free and vegan options. For celiacs, I have celiac. Confirmed they have a GF protocol they follow, a separate prep and cook area with clean utensils. Fried items are pan fried with corn starch. I order sweet and sour chicken and they prepare it properly. Just ask them questions before ordering. They offer GF soy sauce. No reactions after eating here several times!

Definitely NOT a happy experience. There was nothing good about this restaurant…read more 1) They opened late and then only finally opened because I peered into the window and saw a man who works there sitting at a table. He looked up and saw me...didn't even give me an apologetic "be there in a second" gesture. Just got up, and it took him another two minutes to get to the door. 2) No warm welcome. Edit: No welcome whatsoever. He took me to the table with the menus. 3) The women's bathroom was in disarray. They had literally just opened the door and there were paper towels and toilet seat covers on the floor. A female staff member left as I was entering -- and she left it like that for customers? The sink was full of suds (at least she washed with soap) and the rim of the sink was full of water. I had to wipe it down to avoid getting my blouse wet. 4) The server was as inhospitable as the man who opened the door. And we told her it was pretty hot and asked if they could turn the temp of the AC down a bit. She told us they had just turned it on and cold air would be coming... Well, it should have been on a good half hour or so (about how long it took to cool down a little) before they opened the doors so customers would be comfortable. 5) The food was not good at all. My friend's meal was mostly flavorless, except for the pieces of ginger, and was extremely greasy. Mine was bland, bland, bland, and the meat looked and tasted like it been simmered, not seared in a hot wok. 6) The server never came to ask how the food was and never checked back to see if we needed more water. No one else was in the restaurant (that says something), so it wasn't like we could catch her walking by. 7) After the server brought the check, it took another 15 minutes before she came out again to get payment. And there were still no other customers -- so I have no idea what she was doing. Neither of us finished our food and had we not been on a time crunch we would have sent it back -- but neither of us was confident another order would be any better. We will not be going back there and do not recommend it at all. This is Chinese food and hospitality at its worst.

They are so kind and patient with the toddlers and babies in our family. The portions are always generous here and I have never been disappointed with the quality. But yesterday, everything was different. The crunch was gone, and what batter there was had no flavor or crunchy texture. Half the chicken had no batter at all. The sauce was sour, and the spicy kick I loved was gone. The dark brown coloring with that lovely hint of caramel was replaced with a rusty reddish orange sauce. I ordered takeout, and I decided to eat a portion in my car before driving home. I tried, I really did. After a few bites, I closed the container and drove home, and immediately tossed it into the trash. I understand that many restaurants are trying to hang on in this economy. Maybe Lincoln Chinese tried some less expensive ingredients instead of raising prices. I'm here to say, I'd happily pay more for the version that has been my signature order for many years. No other restaurant could top your former General Chicken. PLEASE bring it back! So disappointed.
