Spicy 108. Fried Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce - nice

Come for the delicious Chinese dishes and good service at what feels like a mom and pop restaurant hidden in the back of a strip mall. Plenty of seating and clean. Good choices on the menu and portions were generous. We came home with plenty of leftovers. The noodles with beef dish was one of my favorites but also the spicy eggplant and pork with bamboo shoots.

This review is based on my one time experience! Came on a Sunday evening and it was quite empty inside so we got seated right away with a large party. I was craving a beef noodle soup but note this is the Chinese style beef noodle soup than the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I got the signature beef noodle soup. The portion was good for the price. The beef was tender and broth flavorful. You get the option of thin or thick noodles so the thin noodles are more like round thin noodles (think long spaghetti noodles) and the thick are really thick wide noodles that are about 1.25" wide. Note: some items may have the same name but there is a difference! For example lamb noodle soup under the "noodle soup" section is just lamb flavored broth with noodles and no meat but under the "signature dishes" section, the lamb noodle soup has meat. Green onion pancake was crispy but it was missing a lot of flavor and not much green onion. Service is fairly quick with all things considered.

Nestled away in an unassuming corner, this hidden gem offers a delightful journey through authentic culinary memories. The menu is a treasure trove of nostalgic flavors, reminiscent of childhood favorites. Each dish, from the flavorful beef noodles to the veggies and perfectly crafted dumplings, evokes the essence of the old school SGV. Every bite satisfies a craving, making it a must-visit destination. With such a diverse array of offerings, it's an invitation to return and explore the rest of the menu.

This was a surprising find and the place is kind of hard to find. It's nestled at the back of a strip mall. It's not huge but there's plenty of seating for smaller parties. We were in the mood for soup/soup noodles and this place hit the spot. The service was okay, not overtly friendly but the server helped pack out leftovers to go and was cordial. They have a number of cold dishes (i.e. tripe) that you can order to go. Their options are located right around the cash register/counter. As for the food, I'll start with the "meh" and go from there. The "meh" would be their green onion pancake (tsung you bing). While it's crispy, it's missing something....maybe not enough green onions, flavor...just not quite what I'm looking for. Next up and a little better is the juicy pork dumping (xiao long bao). It's got a thicker skin, similar to Ma Ma Lu's but juicier and has good flavor. Their soups were the best and I would definitely go back to try other soups or order the same ones. And, their price was more than reasonable...hard to find these days. Their stewed beef and tendon noodle soup with thin noodles was really good. Spicy but not too spicy and they gave plenty of soft/tender beef and tendons. The other soup was the special of the day which was a rice noodle with beef and pickled vegetables. It was very clean, not too salty.

First time visitor Been wanting to try this spot Hidden literally in a corner of a small parking lot located after Burger King Very hole in the wall Asian spot Large Variety of dishes from noodles hot dishes cold dishes appetizers Orders can be placed through various app or to go Primarily one main dining room but very clean with Asian elements throughout the restaurant and some decor and lights and calligraphy on a accent wall Flat screen available - news was playing at the time Server was nice and shared their favorite dish Everything was freshly made and came out one by one and not all clumped together Ordered spicy wontons, lamb soup with thick noodles, sesame Dan Dan, and seafood tofu hot pot Spicy wontons - not spicy at all so for those with low spicy tolerance this could be for you, something about the sauce and spices. Well cooked and stuffed and came with 12 pieces! Lamb soup with thick noodles (or choice of thin) but thick are hand made. Broth was mild and came with 2 woodear mushrooms cilantro and other items that I was not able to identify that appear to have no taste or could be aspects from other dishes made. Lamb was very tender and flavorful, thick noodles had the chew but hard to grip with the wooden chopsticks. I added more of the chili oil to give some broth a bit more zing Dan Dan noodles with sesame top with peanuts some type of gingery sauce. Good portion but the after gingery taste was not pleasant so it was half touch :( The seafood hot pot had very few shrimp one tiny segment of a sea cucumber and some cuttlefish fish and primarily filled with tofu and peppers It was ok and not worth the price point of $19 Overall would return to try other dishes Please note 3.5% fee to use credit cards only Also don't expect servers to check upon you frequently, it is the legit Asian service (love this) so if you need something, please reach out. Can easily share orders good for date night group outing and solo dining!

An authentic taste of western style chinese food. Lots of options for dishes. The thick noodle soups were very good. Beef was tasty and tender. Decent seating for large group. Would recommend.

I must have an internal clock that needs dumplings and the braised tendon with noodles dish from here. The place is usually empty when I've been. Today was the same, no diners for the 5 pm afternoon. I'm really curious about the big platter of spicy noodles with chicken, but since I was dining solo, I'll have to try that's another time. Remember it's CASH or Debit card only, credit card gets a surcharge. I used the debit card. Very quiet spot , it made me recall this couple I worked with who were cheating on their spouses : I also chanced upon them in a place like this.

Solid authentic Chinese food! We ordered the braised beef thick noodles soup, stir fried green beans and Mongolian beef. The 3 dishes came out to be $49 before tips. Not that cheap but you get great quality food, I especially loved the flavors of the braised beef noodles, the soup was slightly spicy and the noodles were hand pulled and chewy texture. The noodle soup also had beef tendons. Mongolian beef had the tasty soy sauce flavor and good with white rice. Food came out fast interior was clean. I would come back to try other foods.

Lamb Noodle Soup at lunch. Full of flavor

Quaint & Family owned... with awesome homemade wontons and dumplings. But... for me the best is their Lamb Noodle Soup at lunch. Full of flavor!

There's a great selection on the menu. We were blown away by the Big Platter Chicken, it's packed with meat and delicately seasoned with Szechuan peppercorns. It's $30 but worth it, it could feed a small army! In fact we added vegetables (and some more Szechuan peppercorns) to our leftovers later and it was STILL chock-full of chicken! The hand-cut noodles are in many other dishes as well and are really good (and super long!) Bring cash because (as the server kindly warned us) there's a 3.5% fee for card.

4.5 stars. Great experience! We came here for dandan noodles and left with a tasteful journey of some authentic flavors! It is always said that the more Asian customers you see at an Asian restaurant, the more authentic it is. Well, this restaurant only had Asian customers! We ordered the Dandan noodles and the Beijing Style soybean paste with noodles (basically a Zha Jiang Mian). The portions were quite large. The Dandan noodles were very good, but they had the Szechuan peppers, which brought that numb feeling I'm not a fan of. Other than that, the noodles were very good. The Zha Jiang Mian was very good, particularly because the pork pieces were minced, which I enjoy more than bigger pork pieces. The pricing was reasonable and there is a lot of parking outside the complex. Great find and we will be back in the future!

A longtime establishment hidden gem Taiwanese comfort food in Artesia, in the same plaza near Honey Bakery. They're known for their specialty braised beef noodle soup it comes with choice or thick or thin noodles, tendon or none, bok choy, topped with green onions, cilantro, and pickled mustard. The beef and tendon is flavorful and tender to bite, and the broth is flavorful. The juicy pork dumplings XLB the skin is slightly thicker. The green onion pancake is crispy. That's all we ordered will be back to order other items.

I've already reviewed this place but just updating on another dish. The thick noodles have that lovely thick texture I like and I like lamb. wasn't too gamey for me but I pretty much say that about all lamb. Food here always fills me up. Food comes out relatively fast for soup noodle dishes.

She did not let me down as we walked in and noticed how truly authentic it was going to look. Chinese decor on the walls and boxes of restaurant supples in the corners. Just as it should be. The bonus was that they had a TV showing the NBA Finals when we arrived. Pretty nice touch and in the back of the restaurant so as not to distract everyone. We went with a couple of our favorite dishes to run along and the Chicken Lo Mein was pretty good. Crispy pieces of chicken and soft noodles and veggies to go with it. We chose to get Mongolian Beef and it was absolutely fantastic. Crispy celery, green onions and decent sized pieces of meat in a terrific sauce. I would love to try to replicate that. My wife wanted a shrimp dish so she ordered the honey walnut and it even looked good to me when they brought it. She loves egg rolls, so she got a four piece and said they were pretty good. My biggest wow of the visit was their vegetable fried rice. MY GOD. I dont know what they season or flavor it with, but every fork full of rice that i ate, it was this sense of flavor that reminded me of butter or something else. I really loved the sensation i experienced from this particular dish. I am really curious on what it actually is. I will definitely be ordering out or coming in for Chinese because that reminded of many other places that put out fantastic dishes.

We had plenty to share, which is always a plus. The restaurant has a nice family-style vibe, but it's a lot smaller inside than it looks from the outside. If it's busy, it can feel pretty cramped, and you'll probably have to squeeze between tables and chairs to get around. If it's not crowded though, it's much easier to move around. The service was fast, which I appreciated. The only downside was the food runner who brought out our meals. He wasn't very friendly and kind of just set the plates down wherever there was space, even on top of the plates we were already using. It felt a little careless and took away from an otherwise good experience. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight, but because of that experience with the service, it'll probably be a while before I come back.

I absolutely loved the crispy bottom layer because it added such a satisfying crunch to every bite. The inside stayed really juicy and flavorful with a good balance of pork, shrimp, and chives. The Juicy Pork Dumplings had soup inside, which was rich and savory. I've had soup dumplings before where the wrapper breaks apart too easily, but these held together nicely while still staying soft and delicate. The Wonton in Spicy Sauce was my personal favorite from the entire meal. The spicy sauce flavor was savory with a little sweetness. I'm typically not good with spice, so this is at a spice level that should be very manageable for everyone. I absolutely loved the spicy sauce, so I started putting it on everything. Definitely put the sauce on the chicken fried rice! The Chicken Fried Rice was a great dish to pair with everything else that we ordered. With several orders of entrees, a solid rice dish is a must order for any Chinese meal. The rice had a nice savory flavor that I enjoyed, and there was a generous amount of chicken mixed throughout the dish. I even asked the waitress if they do anything special with the fried rice because it tasted better than many other restaurants. It felt comforting and balanced compared to some of the heavier dishes. The Dry Fried String Beans were cooked perfectly with a slight crispness while still being tender. The garlic and seasoning gave them so much flavor that it honestly didn't even feel like I was eating vegetables. I do have to note that these were very much on the salty side, so if you don't like foods that are too salty, I would choose a different dish. The Orange Chicken was really crispy and juicy, which I appreciated because soggy orange chicken is always disappointing to me. The sauce had a nice citrus flavor while still keeping that classic sweet savory taste. The Spring Rolls were simple with vegetable filling on the inside with a crispy outside. I would try a different appetizer next time. The Kung Pao Shrimp was packed with flavor and had a really satisfying combination of textures. The shrimp were tender, and the peanuts added a great crunch to the dish. I thought the sauce had a really nice balance of spice and savoriness without becoming overwhelming. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Beef Roll Pancake. The pancake itself was nice and chewy throughout each bite. The sliced beef with green onions and sauce all wrapped together made every bite really flavorful and satisfying. For drinks, I ordered the Jasmine Milk Tea with Boba. I really liked that the jasmine tea flavor was noticeable instead of being overly sweet like some milk teas can be. The boba had a soft chewy texture, and the drink itself paired perfectly with the spicy and savory dishes from the meal. Staff: All of the staff members were quick and friendly Ambiance: Indoor seating only. A good amount of parking in the parking lot that is shared with other shops in the plaza.
