A bit puzzled by the negative reviews. First time using this shop and was pleasantly surprised by the quick service/diagnostic and excellent communication. I'm afraid there are no "deals" when it comes to auto repair. Most shops quotes are usually market rates and pretty competitive ... unless going to a dealership! Always stings when you are addressing mechanical issues. With that said, this shop uses software / app that clearly defines the issues that presented with a scan and diagnostic. The customer has the ability to review the most serious issues needing attention ... and agree to authorize which services to complete. Prices are clearly presented and broken down with parts/labor so it is very easy to price shop if you are hesitant to authorize a service. I did not find that this shop was a bargain nor overpriced ... again pretty much market rates for labor and parts. Some may find a $200 charge for diagnostic and overall vehicle inspection high, however I found the results well worth it as I now have a roadmap of services needing attention. Some I can handle myself and others will require the shop service. I consider the detailed diagnostics more of a safety check as my Toyota work van has 315,000 miles and still going strong. I dealt with Victor, who was extremely communicative and kept in touch multiple times during a 24 hour period with updates on the vehicle status. read more

Be very careful with this place and do your research ahead of time. I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotations. I thought it was a little overpriced but I was open. I was told that it needed a few other services, including replacing 2 tires. For the services that my car "needed" I was given a quote of $4,000 (oil change, tire rotation, clean intake valves, replace the two back tires, replace front brakes, and replace transmission fluid). When I asked the guy who was assisting me what were the most urgent issues, he avoided answering my question directly and kept on trying to explain how it all was necessary. I ended up getting the oil change, tire rotations and one other thing that can't recall. The services that I didn't get were still about $3,000, I share this because this is where I felt like I was taken advantage of and lied to. I did tons of research, called various places to get quotes for the services I still had pending... everywhere else I called was a lot less than what this place quoted me. I ended paying $1200 for the needed services. Also, for the 2 tires he had told me I had to replace asap for my safety, I went to two tire shops and they both told me the it was only one tire that needed to be replace and that it could last at least 2 more months. Do your research, don't commit to getting the services done here. Couple other things to keep in mind: they will send a $20 if you have them a 5 star review ($20 isn't worth lying or going back). I came here for a battery replacement when my car wouldn't start. In total for the labor, replacement, and price of the battery, it all came out to approx $450. Do I think this was overpriced? Yes. I think they took advantage of me because I was alone, a woman who didn't know better, and desperate to get my car fixed. I was the only customer at the car shop when I went. Thought it would be really quick to change the battery. The guy at the shop told me that he needed to call someone to bring the battery over and it would take no more than 1 hour. Someone came by and dropped off the battery, but I guess it was the wrong battery so they had someone else come by to drop off ANOTHER battery. I waited 3-4 hours to get my battery changed. Throughout this process, no one updated me on what was happening and why it was taking so long. I got my battery changed. Went on a cross country road trip a couple of months later. Was stranded in Tennessee because my car didn't start. Called AAA and the technician told me that whoever changed and fixed the battery terminal ends did a HORRIBLE job. The AAA technician said that the terminal ends were very loose and they could've came off of the battery at any point during the drive and that I was lucky that nothing happened during my road trip. Overall, I don't think this place is worth your time and money. Go somewhere more reputable, more honest, and can deliver better service. read more

They won't give me an estimate for replacing an alternator. They try to force people to tow/bring the car to them so they can over charge for a diagnostic and then over charge for services once the car is there. The woman that answered the phone didn't know what she was talking about, nor did she know what an alternator does. The owner is rude and a crook. read more

I am disappointed to have to give this business a bad review, but here is how I'm feeling after making the choice to patronize this shop. I don't recommend this place and won't be coming back. 1) overpriced/inflated labor/costs: Around 4 hours of time for brake pads and rotors is excessive. Ask around if you don't believe me. 2) excessive time: it took 2 full days for basic brake work and to replace some hoses to the gas tank. AND they barely got the job done by Saturday afternoon and were trying to tell me they'd need to keep my car until Tuesday--since they were closed on Monday. Unacceptable. One alleged reason for the delay was that the rotors needed to be delivered the next day. I personally went to a nearby Oreilly and they had the parts in stock. 3) poor communication: apparently, this shop is too busy to communicate clearly and timely with customers. 4) Itemization of costs: I requested this multiple times. Only received it when I was being asked to pay--upon my request. It's a standard practice to see your itemization you front--and as often as needed 5) questionable work: the diagnostic test I received says that my electric gauge is not working. This is true and I knew this before I came here. But The report says nothing about the rest of the gauges. In fact, I already knew that ALL of the gauges need to be replaced. For example, the speedometer is obviously inaccurate if you drive the car--and they claim to have done a test drive. It's troubling to me that a professional shop didn't catch the fact all my gauges need attention. In sum, I should have done this work myself--or gone to the shop I normally go to when I don't have the time to do it myself. I was crunched for time so chose to take it to a shop. And I chose this shop specifically because I wanted to patronize a Latino-owned business in my community. I originally was looking for a shop to perform an A/c service and Cruz Auto Repair performed an in-depth engine diagnosis with an oil change service with pictures confirming engine components in need of replacement as well as suspension parts that were worn out which I agreed and appreciated the attention to detail, my vehicle was kept safe during the service that took some days due to my vehicle having some age, none the less I received txt updates and part arrival and completion of the repair, pricing was fair even when requested repairs to be added. This place has gone downhill in 2024 since previous service visit here a year & half ago. As Liliana C. says, be very careful to ask for an estimate and review it before authorizing any work. I took my vehicle in with a known issue and asked for a diagnosis and estimate as well to identify and estimate costs to address any other deficiences. I also was presented with a long list of issues and a total estimate around $4000. Multiple of the suggested and expensive repairs were determined unnecessary by a second, more-reputable shop. The repairs that were justifiable albeit not critically urgent were unreasonably expensive. Just one example: Cruz recommended replacing 8 spark plugs at a cost of $162 for plugs and $144 labor (1 hr). $306 total before tax. The same spark plugs cost $36 at the auto parts store! Changing all spark plugs takes 20 minutes, not an hour. It's reasonable to expect parts to be marked up 20-35% by a shop but not 300%. There were no other customer vehicles at Cruz at the time. Draw your own conclusions. read more

Went with an A/C problem at cruz's auto repair and got an estimate on how much they charge to fix the problem. They told me after checking that it was gonna be 2,400$ and that it was my compressor but ended up being my condesor, almost fell for it. Went in to nearest auto parts got the piece for 212$ and replaced it my self for a total of 288$. Saved 2200$ problem solved. Really untrustworthy knowing that they want to over charge for 10 minutes of work. read more

I don't trust any mechanics but when my car was turning off on me with a check engine light after I did an oil change at a shop in San Francisco, I did not want to cross the bridge anymore with having this issue. My friend recommended me this shop and it's so close to where I live at. I called and the next morning, I went to get a diagnostic. They found out what was wrong with my car, repaired it, and worked with my insurance. Everything went smooth that I went again to get the other parts that needed to be repaired. My 2009 Corolla is 12 years old. After they did an extremely thorough job of inspecting my car from tip to tip, it ended up needing quite a bit of work done on it (various parts of the engine and back brakes - due to its older age). Both Augustin and Victor kindly took the time to walk me through everything the car needed for repairs. Yes, with everything that needed to be fixed, it ended up costing more than I expected. But to make my older car run like new again cost much less then a downpayment for a new car. My car runs just like new again. We were very thankful to have found Cruz Auto Repair on a late Saturday afternoon after the heater hose in our car sprung a leak on the Interstate and leaked engine coolant everywhere.
